Week of March 13, 2006

You can take "The Peacemaker," "Deep Impact," and "The Tuxedo." We'll take "Gladiator," "American Beauty" and anything else that didn't suck.

Emilio's 17

Yeah, like he needed all that overpriced crap anyway...

This lawsuit's going to make 'House Party' look like 'House Party Two!'

I told you... don't call me SENIOR!!

Maybe this is all a bad dream too?

Thanks Sharon, but I think I'll wait until this one comes out on DVD (so I can freeze frame of course)

There is absolutely, positively no nepotism in Hollywood. None.

You're good, baby, I'll give you that... but me? I'm magic.

This band will go down like a lead balloon

Well, Goodbye there Children...

They can't sell the Capitol Records building! What will be left to destroy in the next crappy 'end of the world' movie?

Same old Courtney - still sponging off Kurt

Panic on the streets of Austin

You're a fat, Botox faced, wig-wearing ninny! Oh yeah? Well your band has a dirty H addict as a lead singer!

POP CHART NEWS

By Roger Nead

April 6, 2004

DIG IF U WILL:

A picture of the year's biggest come-back! It's none other than the artist currently known as PRINCE.

The purple one has his first charting single in nearly 5 years, with "Musicology," which takes the top debut honors, at #62, on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks Chart.

PRINCE first made this chart on July 29TH 1978, with "Soft And Wet," nearly 26 years ago! That's before many of the artists on the current chart were even born...including: USHER, ALICIA KEYS, CHINGY, RUBEN STUDDARD, and BEYONCE!

With his Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction, his "bringing down the house" performance at this years Grammy Awards, and his much talked about tour, this is the best year PRINCE has had since....gee I don't know...**1999?**

MMMCRAP?:

Did you know that every single released by that dreamy brother trio HANSON has reached the Top 5 on the Billboard Singles Sales chart? No, you probably didn't even realize they were still recording, but it's true!

"Penny & Me," their fourth single, debuts in the #2 spot on the sales chart this week, the same position the boys previous single: "This Time Around," debuted at back in 2000.

"Penny" isn't receiving enough airplay to make the Hot 100...yet, but the previous three did. "This Time Around," peaked at #20, "I Will Come To You," reached #9 in 1997, and, of course, "MMMBop" spent three weeks at #1, also in 97.

Who knows, perhaps HANSON is ready for their big come-back, before they even reach their mid-twenties!

IT'S NOT NICE TO MAKE FUN OF THE MENTALLY HANDICAPPED!:

Yet every week millions of viewers tune in to AMERICAN IDOL, to have a good laugh. This week the show's biggest joke has the last laugh!

WILLIAM HUNG, who seemed to exist only to annoy SIMON COWELL has four songs debut on Billboard's Hot Digital Tracks chart this week. "She Bangs" is the highest debut on that chart at #8, and his "take" on "I Believe I Can Fly," "Rocket Man," and "Free," check in at numbers 28, 31, and 46 respectively.

So to all you nay-sayers who think American pop music couldn't get any worse...show's how much you know!

ROCK & ROLL TRIVIA QUESTION:

What was the first #1 hit from the 70's to reach #1 a second time by a different artist?

THE ANSWER: The first #1 hit from the 1970's to make it back to the #1 spot by a different artist was the third song to reach the top in the decade..."Venus!" originally recorded by Dutch act SHOCKING BLUE, it hit #1 on February 7TH, 1970, and then again on September 6TH, 1986, by British girl trio BANANARAMA.

The other 70's chart-toppers to repeat their success, are:

"I'll Be There" by THE JACKSON 5 in 1970, and by MARIAH CAREY, in 1992
"Lean On Me" by BILL WITHERS in 1972, and by CLUB NOUVEAU, in 1987
And "Lady Marmalade" by LaBELLE in 1975, and by CHRISTINA AGUILERA, 'LIL KIM, MYA & PINK, in 2002
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION:

Read the clues and identify this well-known pop singer: Since 1970 he's had 21 Hot 100 hits, and included in those are remakes of popular hits by: THE EVERLY BROTHERS, BUDDY HOLLY, THE DRIFTERS, JIMMY JONES, INEZ & CHARLIE FOXX, SAM COOKE, and MARVIN GAYE. His Brother, Sister, and Wife have all had Top 50 hits, and his first chart hit was written about a friend who had committed suicide.

Who is he?

Answer Next Week!
