OOPS...SHE DID IT AGAIN!:
That loveable BRITNEY SPEARS collects the fourth Top 10 hit of her 5-year chart career this week. I know it’s hard to believe with all the talk she’s generated over the last half-decade, Spears has had so few hits, but consider the artists who were in the Top 10 back when Britney appeared there for the first time: SHAWN MULLINS, FAITH EVANS, 98 DEGREES, LAURYN HILL, DIVINE, BACKSTREET BOYS, EAGLE-EYE CHERRY, CELINE DION, and DEBORAH COX. When was the last time any of these artists were making news?
Here is BRITNEY SPEARS four Top 10’ers:
“...Baby One More Time,” #1, 1999
“(You Drive Me) Crazy,” #10, 1999
“Oops...I Did It Again,” #9, 2000
And “Toxic,” #10 (so far), 2004
OH!...SHEILA’S BACK!:
READY FOR THE WORLD’S #1 hit from 1985, “Oh Sheila” is back on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, with a new version called: “Love Me Right (Oh Sheila)” performed by ANGEL CITY Featuring LARA McALLEN, which debuts at #97.
“Oh Sheila” is the second remake of a #1 hit from 1985 to resurface on the Hot 100 this decade, following DJ SAMMY’S cover of BRYAN ADAMS first chart topper “Heaven.” Sammy’s “Heaven,” which featured YANOU & DO, peaked at #8 back in August of 2002.
I think the time is right for LUDACRIS & CHINGY to release their take on PHIL COLLINS’ “Sussudio!”
