It will make less than $80 million at the US box office.

I imagine it doing much better in home sales and rentals some several months from now.

"Kill Bill" will be a smash-hit once it hits theatres. Who doesn't like a violent/gory/kung-fu fighting movie directed by Quentin Tarantino?

About 99% of the planet... maybe more. Otherwise his films would make a lot more money. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Excuse me, but dumbass, Pulp Fiction was one of Quentin's most violent films and it was his most successful one. It won the academy award for best screenplay and the script is now essential reading for every film school student. I think even if your joking, that is a thing that only an [censored] would say.

Twit, Pulp Fiction made $107,928,762. As his most succesful movie its profit represents the direct cash input of less than 1% of the planet (in fact, it is less than half a percent). 1% of 6 billion is 60 million.
It is scary how you never pay attention to the little details. Are you 15?

I am afraid statistic wise he does have you. Also, I liked Pulp Fiction but I really van't stand QT. Maybe this Kill Bill will be good but I can wait until the dollar theater if it makes it there or until video.

Pulp fiction is one of the best movies ever made and is on almost all people's list of favorite films along with Ctizen Kane, Godfather II and Titanic. Does the fact that the script is required reading in film schools mean nothing to you people?

This movie, will probably be a big hit. I mean, look how much it's been talked about since filming started?
And, QT's work has always been good, so I'm sure this movie will do great in the box office.

It's not required at all film schools, first off. My film professor hated the movie, and one afternoon we discussed at length why it was a fad than an example of quality screenwriting. You want a great script, try Usual Suspects, or Back to the Future, or Body Heat, or Butch & Sundance. Those they teach at film school.
Also, most professors worth their salt will push some John Sayles and/or Hal Hartley on the students. Those are writers.
Tarantino gave us an orchestrated collage of lifted scenes and concepts. I have never actually enjoyed reading any of his scripts. I will give him far more credit as a director, somebody who pulls great performances from actors, has a good visual eye, and can find a rhythm in scenes that should by nature have none. But I do not consider him to be a good writer.

Not to be a dick or anything, but where is John Sayles or Hal Hartley's Oscars for screenwriting? Don't have 'em? Well then.
Not that all faith should be placed in the Oscar, but your argument would work a little better if they had the hardware to back it up.
Tarantino's films have largely been lauded as the most influential of the past decade. The same can't be said for Sayles and Hartley, althought their films are good.

I completely disagree. Angelina Jolie has an Oscar, for what I feel was one of the weaker performances in that film. The year Tarantino won, he was up against Peter Jackson for HEAVENLY CREATURES, one of the best scripts I've had the pleasure to read. Sayles and Hartley don't make the kind of movies that get the press to be in the public eye enough to win Oscars.
The Coens have, until recent years, been ignored by the Academy. CITIZEN KANE was panned when it came out. The Oscar, in my mind, means an evening of making bets and getting disappointed. Other than that, it means squat to me. Tarantino has one. Great. Whatever.
If I wanted to, I could remind everyone that Costner has an Oscar, when they decide to pick on the Postman. No, I just say I like his work, you don't, let's move on. That's all this is. The Academy liking Tarantino more than I do is just opinion.
The president of the Academy directed CARPOOL, so you may want to weigh that accordingly.
