Im a huge hockey fan and dont want to clog up the thread I was in. If there is already a thread on Hockey here is my advanced appologey and Ill use the explanation of Im new.....

Speaking Hockey I thought that movie idea of a guy who loves hockey and could only get into the NHL because he could grind and fight was awesome. It reminds me of maybe a Joe Kocur, Tony Twist or Stu Grimson kind of guy.

My team is Detroit I grew up not too far from Joe Louis arena when they were the dead things. I consider myself a hockey fan 1st and a team fan second. being stationed in Cali I went to alot of Kings and Ducks games.

I'm a caps fan, have been since Ovechkin's second season in Washington, so not too long, but I generally know my stuff and have a good knowledge of things outside of the capitals.

I spend far too much money on hockey, and hockey stuff. I spent $150 on last row tickets for game 7 of the rangers series  It was a heck of a lot to spend on the seats, but the atmosphere at the Verizon center was amazing.

Trust me I know the feeling I went to all the Wings Ducks games out here and went home to see game 7 of the Wings Penns.

Go to Detroit and check out Zetterberg and Franzen ha ha same thing

I forgot to add Brashear to my 1st post on here.

I don't think he'll be re-signed. The caps want to be like Detroit and just beat people with talent, they don't really need a goon, just a little grit.

Now for some humorous hockey pictures:

Franzen was my new hero after I saw that. I hate that Kane is on the cover of NHL 10, with his mouth guard hanging out his mouth of course!

sw1ob
06-28-2009, 10:01 PM
A game before that he was trying to be sneaky with his stick and jabbed Franzen during a scrum. I agree he seems lik a little rich kid pretty boy. Im not much of a Hawks fan but I think they got a good team. Toews should stay the franchise face. But I wouldnt turn Kane away from a Team USA.

Now Pens has Gill and Skudery in one jersey - Simon Despres
We have Alex Goligosky who will be a 2nd Gonchar in future...
Gerin and Adams stay in Pensburgh
And we have Dan Bylsma... newbie but lucky...
not so bad...

Im curious how the Pens will juggle their cap space with Malkins new cap hit. There is alot of free agents there too to make room. I bet they deal Staal to make more room.

Sweet_Adeline

Free Agency starts today! I don't think the caps have the cap space to make much of a splash. They still need a second line center though.

Im glad he found a home for a long time. I liked him in Detroit but he was getting paid TOO too much for the cap space on the team. Washington dosent need to sign anyone at all. The minor league depth there is great

Knuble... sign to background of Ovie and Backstroem. I feel that many knees will be cracked by them...

Oh, I remember
KHL:
"Hawks" - Omskiy Avandgard sign the contact with Flyers' def Lasse Kukkonen (22 games in main team, 26 - in farm)
Yaromir Yagr has contract (salary unknown) with Avangarg until next summer (by hearsay, Super Mario calling him to Pens).

Pens.
We're sign fvrd Mike Rupp (Cup with Devils '03), and def' Brain Strait.
and...
Pittsburg Tribune writes:
2009-10 NHL cap: $56.8M
2009-10 Pens salaries: $51.2M

Name: 2009-10 cap hit
Sidney Crosby: $8.7 million
Evgeni Malkin: $8.7 million
Jordan Staal: $4 million
Chris Kunitz: $3.725 million
Bill Guerin: $2 million
Pascal Dupuis: $1.4 million
Matt Cooke: $1.2 million
Max Talbot: $1.050 million
Eric Godard: $750,000
Tyler Kennedy: $725,000
Craig Adams: $550,000
Sergei Gonchar: $5 million
Brooks Orpik: $3.75 million
Mark Eaton: $2 million
Alex Goligoski: $1.833 million
Kris Letang: $835,000
Marc-Andre Fleury: $5 million
Overall: $51.2M

But... Scudery and Orpik with two ex-Penguins teammates Ryan Malone and Ryan Whitney were invited to the Olimpic Camp.

Not so bad in Danish Kingdom...[mockery of Hamlet...]

Hossa decline $7 million to 7 years in Pensburgh and goes to Detroit, saying that he wanna play with that team which can win the Cup...
(I roar with laughter), now he get #5 million to 12 years! Amazing degradation! 12 years... crazy Slovakian... not Czech as like Yagr...
Mad Max Talbot sayd before G7, that he will tryed to prove the Hossa's fault...

Lots of resignings Whats your take on Brashear going to NY? My favorite Caps fan on here.

Sweet_Adeline
07-03-2009, 01:34 AM
The Rangers definitely over payed Brashear. I know they lost their bruiser when Burkie signed Orr, but do they really need an aging Donald Brashear? I like the guy but there is no way he's worth 1.4 million, especially to the Caps. We have guys who can fight, or in Matt Bradley's case take a beating :p, but do they need such a one dimensional player? Probably not. The Caps are emulating the Red Wings and trying to beat people purely with their talent, no thuggery needed.

I'm not feeling the Ranger's signing of Gaborik either. He's just too injury prone for such a long contract.

sw1ob
07-03-2009, 01:43 AM
I bet there is NO no trade clause that way they can drop him if needed. It has been pretty eventfull the last 48 hours nothing realy brewin with my fav team tho. It is too bad to say good bye to McCarty and Cheli just because of the past.

Word nerd that I am, I admit I had no idea that was a recognized spelling. According to the Oxford English dictionary the "American" spelling is considered acceptable world wide. The other spelling is colloquial. So we are both right, yay!

I just saw some guys who are hard competitors who ultimately came up short. If they don't get upset it means they didn't try hard enough. By now I hope they have mellowed out and started to enjoy their Silver medal a bit. Great game though.
