Well, my theory on it is this.

We've (and by we I mean the longer posters) been here this long and are not going anywhere. So if we give each other shit, it will get resolved and we will keep posting.

My biggest fear is, that when noobs get given shit for very little reason or often even just for the sake of it, they might leave and not come back. That only results in a lack of posters and no fun.
I say be polite at first, give people the chance to get used to the place and the informal rules we have around here. Then if they still don't get it, be mean.

Plus, leave the noob telling off to the old heads. If you're a noob I think it's a bit cheeky to attack a noob.

To be honest, I really am not trying to impress anyone.

Perhaps it's a cultural thing. Where I'm from, ripping is part of basic interaction, 99% of insults are back handed signs of affection.

I appreciate you giving me the heads up on how things work on here, I genuinely and sincerely do, but I have a very busy life, I have about 30mins tops each day to mess about online. and the idea of sucking up to a bunch of people around the globe that I'll never meet is frankly a non starter.

If anyone thinks I'm going to waste a single moment earning my "damn stripes" or worrying about the respect of angry individuals with too much time on their hands then they are sadly mistaken.

I am a fan of Kev Smith's films, plus his and S.M's SModcast. Their mentioning of the QSE board got me interested in checking it out. Thus far there have been a few easy going guys, appreciating that I'm just having a laugh, the rest seem to be pompous, up their own ass fuckwits who having spent a life of having their head flushed down the toilet, who now suffer from some sort of geek bully revenge syndrome as soon as they get a keyboard in front of them.

I'll happily communicate with the open minded, friendly, interesting and funny individuals on here, many of whom I've already chatted with. The angry, mob mentality fuckers.........their next shit can be a hedgehog.

The reason I am genuinely baffled, and that you think seems to reak of arrogance, is that in every day life we all meet people of opposing political/religious beliefs, sexual preferences, general attitudes, many of which are extreme. I just found it very surprising that given the vast spectrum of things that people can get fire up about, a "throw away" thread about MJ would cause such a reaction.
