Ok, on the vent page awhile ago and many people know that I am getting laid off from my employment of RR Donnelley & Sons. (Lonnng story)Well I was first told I was leaving April 30th. Then two weeks before the 30th, I was asked to stay till May 15th. No big deal, I had nothing planned during the month of May and this meant another paycheck WOOWHOO!!. On May 13th, I was asked to stay till the end of May to help clean the warehouse, because I still had no plans for the end of May.
So my last day was June 1st, just so I will have health/dental through June. Plus four weeks of separation pay in June. Today I was told that I was still working at the fucking warehouse clean team till the 19th or Friday, depends on if I get the warehouse spotless. So I am pretty mad at this point and when I get back to my desk, IT took my fucking computer away. NO email, NO clocking in/out, and no QSE.com/forums. I was sooo pissed off today that I even skipped lunch just so I could get more work done.
As I get home, Mom asked me if we could go to Target and get a few things for her class tomorrow. She is taking her kids (she works with the special needs kids at the local middle school) Fishing! So we are finding her fishing poles, hooks, lures, and etc. As we walk down the isle, I found something that made my FUCKING day so much better. The Super Soaker 50 20th Anniversary!!!!
It FUCKING rocks!!! I remember when I was two and my Dad got my sister and I both one. We had so much fun with them, we took them everywhere even when we got a little older. As kids do, we got sand, dirt, mud everywhere it could get in. Like the Bottle, the trigger, the pump, and the tip where it finally stop working.
Here are the PROS of the new Super Soaker 50:
Bottle stays on, has new easy fill cap
Original Colors
Leaks like the original one
NO easy sticker/decal logo on bottle
Now for the CONS:
Leaks like the Original one
Only 35ft not 50ft like original one
Plastic banned holding cap will break (one day very later)
Only one on the Block with one.
I love this water gun, I could not wait till Ken Plume ever gives out the one that Hasbro gave to give to us the readers. It was only $15 and I love it and the little kids next door was playing with it also and they were the same age as I was when I got my first Super Soaker 50. Now, I need to get my buddies to get a few and we can have water fights like when we where little. I still Love being a kid!!!:D

Yup, we had that one too. As a kid the entire block where I lived on, my friends and I would have the 55gal. garbage bins filled with water and we would have water wars and we would dunk out bottles, tanks and even we had the cheap plastic water pistols and we would go forever. Man, I love those summer memories!
Decent squirt guns didn't come out until I was too old (and on to real guns).
feel fortunate you were not stuck with the crappy sqeeze trigger squirt guns or yester years. They sucked massively in comparison.

When I was a kid, I bought the Super Soaker 50 with money I had saved up doing chores around the house. I remember being SO excited! I filled it with water, pumped it all the way up, took it outside and shot it...once. It only fired like 1/3 of the claimed distance. I boxed it back up, grabbed my receipt and my mom took me back to the store. I returned it and for the reason I said..."Well. It's crap."
That is all.

Last saturday I spent the day shooting my 3 year old with a fake supper soaker bought at the 99cent store.
I wonder if this is child abuse.
TO be fair, she had oen too, but she was a horrible shot.

Back in the day, if we wanted power when it came to water gun fights, we used a hose.

Is that a gun that shoots meals from the barrel or a gun for wetting your dinner? ;)

We poor families used to go for the water balloon fight. A little more indulgent than the hose fight, but you get better aim and distance....

Amen, brother.
I didn't get my first Super Soaker until I was in my 20's.

Right on sir.....we even got crazy and put a splitter on the hose bib so we could hook up 2 hoses. If we wanted to sneak up on someone (DTCB this is where you insert your Spiderman Ambush comment) you just got a bucket of water and threw it on them.

I actually thought of you and Aaron when I wrote that. I wasn’t confident it would be funny to any extent, but I knew you’d get the reference. I recall listening to one of your podcasts where you made a reference to a Beatles song (Little Piggies?) and being sort of impressed. Why? Because you’re younger than myself, and I’m always impressed when subsequent generations at least know the Beatles material. Not everybody does. When I consider that some grew up believing “I saw her(him) standing there” is a Tiffany song, I don’t know whether to laugh, cry, or fart. Kids, huh?

Blech.
There is something to be said from listening to The Beatles from an early age/naice standpoint and slowly realising all the different meanings to the lyrics etc as you get older.
The White Album just gave gift after gift for every year I revisited it.
One day I was riding around with my buddy, who is only five months older than I am. I was playing Aerosmith's version of Helter Skelter. What did my buddy exclaim?
"That's not Mötley Crüe!!!"
I wanted to give 'im a taste o' the back side of me hand...

I'm an old soul where matters of musical taste (and pop culture in general) are concerned. I have my dad to thank for that. With The Fab Four however, it was almost all my own doing. I picked up a cassette copy of The White Album that had gathering dust in the house for years and listened to it one day when I was around 13, and an obsession was born.
Oh, and I didn't know you listened to our ramblings. I'm honoured.
