Alright, I'm a new guy. As in I just registered a few minutes ago.

I feel like an asshole coming here. Almost like a spambot coming in to peddle his wares and then disappear forever... I made a short film in homage to Clerks and Mr. Smith himself, it's nothing super high-quality (never done this before). Looking for fellow fans to share it with. Am I going to get totally lampooned for posting a link uninvited?

At least you asked instead of throwing it in everyone face....which is a plus.

Maybe...but only because it was your very first post.
Would you go to a city where you didn't know anyone and walk down the street stopping people and asking them to watch your video before even introducing yourself.

Also, it should be noted that Big Kev doesn't have anything to do with this place aside from posting Smodcast here...so he's not going to see your film.

Mostly, but you've been polite about it so maybe they'll curse a little less at you.
What I would say is, post a link to it in the movies thread.
People will be more likely to view it if you stick around and chat for a while.
If this is the last we'll see of you, consider the whole thing pointless because we won't bother.

Also try the viewaskew forums for a similar tactic

Probably. Mostly because Mr. Smith doesn't post here. And we don't much care for spam. But if you hang out, get to know us and participate, you'll find we're a hell of a good group of people.

I love me some Smodcast which is how I found this site in the first place. I have no delusions about the big man seeing it, just looking for a congregation of fans. I've never been big in to forums, but the analogy of walking down the street hawking a video is exactly what it felt like. I figured introductions followed by a link anything less than several months apart would have the same feeling. Hence, no link.

Plus, if it were my first attempt at creating a film...I'd definitely want to make friendly with the natives first. They'll be more likely to give you constructive criticism instead of just flaming your labor of love. ;)

I would love some constructive criticism. My family/friends all give me the mom answer.

Of course everyone who reads this post is going to look at me under suspicion. There's always that anticipation, that this guy wants something. So with that in mind... I vow never to post the link here.

But I will hang out on the board if you'll all have me.

Stick around...but keep your feet off the furniture.

And it is now your job to water the ficus, don't let that thing die, it's like seven or eight years old now.

I thought it was Shitbreak not Shitbrick.
As in, he had to take a break and go home to take a shit.

i had no idea.

I thought it was shitbrick. it just sounded right.

I'd say shit break makes more sense for Finch.

I'll have to go back and check (my guilty pleasure is enjoying watching those movies; primarily for Stiffler quotes). Everyone probably has someone like Stiffler in their life.

I was thinking the same. I know of no one else who comes out with the 'interesting' combination of words and phrase as our Dctb does!

I love the first two. The rest don't count.
