OK, I have a slight feeling that absolutely no one else will be at all interested in a cricket thread but what the hey.

After England's shite display against the W Indies over there (with the exception of Strauss) it's been nice to see them playing well in this test. Onions was on fire today. Skittled through their middle order and tail-enders in no time. Strauss decided to enforce the follow on, so hopefully our bowling form can continue tomorrow and ensure an easy win.

That would put us in good stead for the rest of the series and let the fans have a bit of hope of avoiding a pasting by the Aussies in the Ashes.

Oh, and it was a bit disconcerting to see the Windies apparantly have Marlo Stanfield bowling for them:

My only experience with cricket was watching in Australia (at a very old cricket ground, it still had seat segregation for ladies and men). we had box seats that were utterly useless, so we went down close to the pitch. Great meat pies and beer; boring game. Was completely embarrassed by the Canadian guys with us who kept yelling at the batter to peg the bowler. A. Nobody yells at cricket matches. It was like a golf crowd. 2. "Peg" does not necessarily mean "hit with the ball" in all places. It also means bang in the ass.

I find crickets to be crunchy and not very satisfying.

Well, it's not quite a mop, and it's not quite a puppet, but boy...

heh, heh, heh.

You're all a bunch of uncultured swine. EZ cheese eaters to a man! Arbor Mist drinkers!

Pah and fie! A pox on all your houses!

If you enjoy cricket, have you ever met it's slightly faster and more itnerestign cousin? Baseball... Oh how I love you.

No, we don't really have baseball over here. And I'm not aware of any World Series or other competitions TV highlights packages either.

Baseball is the only American sport I think I could get into. If I ever find myself in the states I may just take in a game.

if you find yourself in New York, let me know and I'll treat you to a game.

That's a kind offer, sir. I don't currently have any plans to visit the Jewel of the North-East (oh yes), but if I do I'll let you know.

Dammit, why didn't you post more last year. I was trying to get someone to go to a game with me. But my even less athletically interested theater folks didn't wanna go.:(

Back on topic, it's looking like we have a good chance of winning this test as long as the weather holds out. We need to bowl them all out twice in two days, which is looking pretty likely, considering how uninterested the Windies seem. Chris Gayle has been talking to the press, saying that the future of the sport is in 20/20 and that test cricket is on it's way out. So it's not really surprising that his team's hearts aren't in it.

Still, Ravi Bopara has been awesome so far, and Onions is still doing well, so let's hope they can keep their form for the Ashes.

you are really gonna hate me. I had a ticket pack last year. You and i could have gone to a game for free. Sorry. I love baseball and frequently end up going to games alone.

Edit: and for the record my BA is in theater arts.

Edit edit: Sorry Mr. Cunk but it looks like nothing will get this thread on topic.

Awww, I can't hate you, man. It might have been cool, but let's not live in the past.:D
