I need to see that one more time to decide if I liked it or not. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Okay, then why did you post a thread here? Why don't you watch it again, post your opinion of the movie, then ask what everyone else who saw it thinks about it?

I only needed to see it once to decide that, other than NEMO, it's the best summer movie I've seen. Johnny Depp is awesome.

For me, it was everything I want a summer movie to be...Action, adventure, romance, comedy, a couple of explosions and a cast that's very easy on the eyes. I hope they can make #2 as well...Two very enthusiastic thumbs up!

What is a carabean? Is it tasty?

Gee, if I ripped on everyone who mis-spelled words or used poor grammar, I'd have over 1000 posts, too.

Calling that a "rip" is hyperbole.

Ok. I definitely need to see it again. Maybe I should have gone to the original version rather than a french-translated one. And maybe I would have like it better without the little monster crying all along. At least, I agree that Johnny Depp was very good. Remind me of Dustin Hoffman in Hook. And Orlando Bloom was just fine as the naive one.

I thought it was a great movie and I would definetley like to see another movie of it's kind. Also wasn't there a movie that was called Pirates of the Carribean a long time ago cause somebody told me this and I wasn't sure if it was true.

There was a movie called The Pirate Movie that was a take-off on the Pirates of Penzance.

I tried to write a "pirate" movie, but it turned into 200 pages of guys going "Argggggh, matey." Apparently, there has to be more to a movie than pirates going "Arggggh, matey." I always thought "Arggggh" said it all, but I guess I was wrong.

Pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel down his pants...

bartender looks at him and says "Isn't that steering wheel uncomfortable?"

Pirate says "AAAAAAaaargh, it's drivin' me nuts!"

I can't believe I just laughed at that.

Three pirates are discussing their wounds.
"I was attacked by a crow up in that thar crow's nest, and he pecked me eye out, so now's I got one made a cork!"
"Arrr, I lost me hand to a gator, and all that rests in its place is this metal hook!"
"Avast! I dangled from many a plank, and on one such occasion, a shark felt a pang o hunger that cost me the knee down!
"All this talk of the sea is makin me thirsty. Woulja like another round?"
"Would I? Would I?"
"Peg leg! Peg leg!"

Mainly, I'm just suprised that Pirates of the Caribbean was rated PG-13. I think it would be obvious to anyone who has seen it that it should have been rated R.

There was a quite good pirates by Roman Polanski, too, in 1986, staring Walter Matthau and Cris Campion. A good one, too. What's missing in the Caribbean is a good song. Don't read me wrong here. The soundtrack is good, could even have been signed by John Williams, but a nice balade would have scored.

Can't be as good as the pure action-comedic gold (pun intended) of Cutthroat Island.

waiting for the UK release...which is really annoying seeing as they had the premier over a week ago but its not actually in cinemas until 8th August....gol figure!

I remember when (living in Europe meant that) a big American movie arrived a year or more later in theaters. A few weeks isn't that bad. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

i'm use to the gap between the USA release and the Uk release it just seems a bit silly to have the premier and all the media hype that surrounds it like 3 weeks before its actually on general release....

Okay, help me out. I can't believe I'm writing this but I am confused by part of the Pirates...plot. Please confirm that Jack Sparrow does cut his hand and put the blood on a coin at the end. If so, why? Are he and Orlando Bloom brothers in a literal sense? Or is it more symbolic? OR is it because Jack stole a coin and was thus cursed like Geoffrey Rush and had to put his blood on the coin to reverse it?

And no, I am not a member of MENSA.

Thank you.

Confused in Boston.

I'm not going to get too worked up just yet. It's hard enough to believe Bruckheimer can be responsible one good movie , but two?
Will the main characters return ?
Is Verbinski directing?

I was the same way. I didn't see it until I was trapped at a friend's house and forced to watch it. Now it's in my regular rotation. So we just need to trap you somewhere and force you to watch it.

I've yet to see the first one. No matter how many times I hear how good it is, I still have no urge to see it.It's all right. Johnny Depp is great, but it's shot like an MTV video with it's all of it's quick edits. It's more annoying than entertaining. But it proves my theory that Jerry Bruckheimer + Movie = not good.

Don't bother, it's not as good as people make out.
I went to see it with high hopes cos I like The Depp but I was quite disappointed. Orlando Bloom is lame and Johnny isn't all that much either.
Mildly entertaining, nothing more.
