Bram Stoker's Dracula...Keanu Reeves was the only flaw in an otherwise enjoyable film.

I think I would have to agree with The Lost Boys. Of course, Love at First Bite was cool.

I'll say "From Dusk Til Dawn" because nobody else has yet. Plus I dig Clooney and Harvey Keitel.

Quentin Tarantino's "From Dusk Till Dawn" ties with the "Blade" movies for me.

I prefer to think of it as Robert Rodriguez's "From Dusk Til Dawn." Tarantino's original script was crap, before the heavy rewrites that made it the film it is today.
Big fan of "Near Dark," "Fright Night 1 & 2" and "Sundown."

Question...Does Mad Monster Party (yes, the claymation one) count as a vampire movie? If so, then I'd like to change my answer... /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Very Good point. Tomsend (spelling?) in Queen of the Damned was really better than Tom "Hey it's me" Cruise.

Another good cheesy vampire movie was Once Bitten with Jim Carey. The moral of the story was that it was bad to be a virgin.

That was a good one. Jim Carey loses his cherry in a coffin. They just don't write them like that ne more. /forums/images/icons/smirk.gif Ha!

I have to agree, with the statement about not making them like they used to. I saw a movie called Better off Dead with John Cusack, they don't make that kind of dark comedy anymore. I mean, a little boy fell of a mountain and it was funny.

07-25-2003, 02:17 PM
When are they coming out with a John Cusack DVD boxed set? I mean, c'mon. Better Off Dead, One Crazy Summer, Hot Pursuit, Say Anything. Can they even put this together. If so, I'm there!

You can't do it when multiple studios are involved. Same reason why Kevin can't do a boxed set for the Jersey Trilogy. Makes you yearn for the old days when a star could only work for one studio, doesn't it?

FDTD2? What could you have possibly liked about two that puts it above, well, nearly any of the vampire movies listed?
I must concur with "Near Dark". A Classic Bill Paxton film, right up there with trespass.

probably the fact his hero had some involvement in them, he probably thinks 3 is the bomb as well. I've not seen 2 or 3 cause I heard how crap they are and for once I take heed to people's words.

Tarantino was supposed to write and direct part 2, while Rodriguez did part 3. They were supposed to be a big theatrical thing, mucho hype, etc. Then Lazy Q farmed the script out to somebody, handed it off to another guy, and basically just stamped his name on it.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez and his brother sat down, cranked out a script, took it seriously. When Tarantino showed up with his POS, they decided to send the thing straight to video. Not happy about the situation, Rodriguez got his friend (the original Mariachi) to direct his script. Part three is MUCH better than two. I know some people who like it the best.

Did anyone know they made a sequel to Dracula 2000? I didn't until I saw it at Hastings yesterday. I didn't really care for the first one, but the second one was decent. Not scary or anything, though. Just a decent movie. They called it Dracula II and it must have went straight to video.

I'm surprised to see "Shadow of the Vampire" (my fave vamp movie) only mentioned once so far. Dafoe and Malkovich are great in it, and the plot/story/script what-have-you is pretty creative for a vampire movie.

I think it is mentioned twice in this thread.
