Your frustration is understandable.
Now that I think about I never saw "Star Wars" since I first saw it on video when I was 3 or 4, which would have been around 84-85, by which point Lucas had already added the Episode IV moniker.

It became subtitled "A New Hope" when it got re-released in like 78-79 and they were working on Empire. So it has had that subtitle for a while, but the idea of calling it A New Hope seems to be something that has come with the new era of fans. Star Wars has become the title of the franchise, and the DVD is even called A New Hope.

Space Opera: is a subgenre of speculative fiction or science fiction that emphasizes romantic, often melodramatic adventure, set mainly or entirely in space, generally involving conflict between opponents possessing powerful (and sometimes quite fanciful) technologies and abilities. Perhaps the most significant trait of space opera is that settings, characters, battles, powers, and themes tend to be very large-scale.

Nothing big. I got suspended multiple times during my last two years of school, and it was always for the same thing - a culmination of excessive chattiness in class, never doing homework and turning up late. This would go on for a month or two, with lots of detention, until they finally would snap and "have no other choice" but to suspend me.
I can't begin to tell you how little I gave a toss in school. I had a blast though and I'm still very close to all my school friends, so quids in!

Now I gotta ask since I'm surrounded by troublemakers. Anyones parent have any fucked up discipline for them as a child? My folks were raised Catholic, so my brother and I got some very inspired punishment. We never got smacked around but the worst of it was having to kneel in the corner on the hard ass kitchen floor for extended periods of time. If we were particularly awful, they would throw down some popcorn kernals first. A co-worker and I have had the discussion and she had to kneel on a broomstick.

Best Star Wars Moments

I loved the movie, and each time I've watched it the value has barely diminished, as opposed to Batman Begins which I can't really watch anymore. The move has killer replay value. But I don't count myself in with the people who think it's a travesty that it did not receive a best picture nomination.

Kane was a well made movie, to be sure, but I found it boring. I think its entirely overrated. Family Guy actually got something right when Peter said about the Godfather "It insists upon itself." I just don't like it, it might be just me.
Nightmare is good, but undeserving of the ridiculous fanbase and cult following that it has.

Don't read the book then. It's even more ridiculous. Off the top of my head, because I read it in sixth grade, he becomes an international chess master and defeats the world champion by cutting a fart which throws the champ off and he accidentally knocks over his own king ... and he becomes an astronaut and the shuttle crash lands in the Outback.

I don't think I understood Napoleon Dynamite. I got the impression that he has Asperger's Syndrome or something, so all the socially awkward things he does which are (I presume) meant to be funny just came off as sad. It seems like 90 minutes of "let's laugh at the disabled kid!"
Donnie Darko is over-rated. I like it, but it's nowhere near as deep as many over-sensitive teenagers seem to think it is.
American Beauty is another one. And I've only recently come to realize this, as it used to be one of my favourite films. I watched it again recently though, and it's actually full of achingly pretentious pseudo-profundity.
Speaking of which: David fucking Lynch. His entire output seems to exist solely so film students can feel smug about liking him. And condescendingly dismiss anyone who doesn't. Bah.

Another one I have nothing but love for. I saw this film at just the right time in my life and it has stayed with me ever since. Plus it introduced me to the band Gomez, via this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvDk_cwwNbI&feature=related) awesome track.

I'm no Lynch apologist, and I've seen as much bad as good from him, but I do adore Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive. I don't hold to the notion that some people don't "get" his work, because I don't believe that there is anything to get in the strictest sense. I think it's more about his work eliciting an emotional response in the viewer. If you like it, great; if you don't, great too. There's no right answer.

Really?
yup. I never liked it. Its very much the same as Scarface. It might be that I just don't like gangster movies, but I loved Goodfellas and Donnie Brasco.
Godfather just rubbed me the wrong way...
I'm just leaving myself open with that one aren't I...

I just think it's a well made little story, plus it's funnier than most people give it credit for.
Yeah, it is funny. That's one of the things I do like about it.
Yeah, I might have been a bit deliberately cunty up there. It's not so much Lynch's films I dislike as the oh-so-earnest film twats, who adore anything he does and sneer at anyone who doesn't. Although I do actually like Blue Velvet.
I also very much like Jam (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbXFSFO2yaI&feature=related) despite it's Lynchian influence. I'm a mess of contradictions, me.
