In my bedroom I have a DVD rack which can hold about 30 titles- I'm working on creating the quintissential movie collection- movies that deserve to have their own section at the Video Library labelled AWESOME. So far my personal collection looks something like this:

Death Proof
Pulp Fiction
The Man From Hong Kong
The Big Lebowski
Dogma
The Last Boy Scout
Edward Scissorhands
Life of Brian
Little Shop of Horrors
The Player
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
The Butterfly Effect
and
Silence of the Lambs

My question is; what would you put in the rack?

...The Butterfly Effect...

I haven't laughed that hard in a long time, so thanks for that.

See I saw originally the directors cut, which has a different ending from the theatrical release, and I loved the film.

I didn't know at the time it was a directors cut (was a dodgy DVD ) so then bougth the film on DVD and got this shitty "everything is kind of good in a weird way" ending compared to the downer of an ending it had originally.

Apparently the directors ending didn't go down well at previews...and because of that they fucked over a very good flick!

If you haven't saw the directors cut I recommened it!

Ashton Kutcher is in it, so no thanks.

I have balls I need to scour off with a brillo pad.

My DVD rack has a couple hundred DVDs in it. You could always move out of the 'rents house so that you can have a living room or home theatre that you may fill with a full DVD collection. ;)

I was gonna say...

I don't think they have enough server space for me to list the some 600 titles I own.

As DVD collections grow they take up a lot of space. Would any of you throw out the cases to put them in DVD organizers? I've thought about this a few times but I just can't seem to do it.

I know people who do, but I could never throw them away.

I already have. I found it very liberating. There are a few I kept. Like my autographed Anthrax DVD, but for the most part, they are in a notebook.

Did you keep the cases or throw them away?

I threw out all the cases for the single-disc and some double-disc DVDs. Special editions with interesting packaging stayed. But I need another box for the other 200 or so discs...

I could never bring myself to throw away the cases. Maybe put them in a box, but never throw them away.

Unless they have something special, why the fuck keep them. It is just wasted plastic. Most DVD's have names printed on them you need no identification. What used to be a bookshelf now takes up about as much room as a pizza box. It's awesome.

I keep them. It's like decoration to me. I'll never have a library with leather bound books or anything. This is my library. :D

I like being able to walk up to my shelving units and peruse...wouldn't be the same if I was flipping through a book.

Its the same reason that Netflix will never replace a video store for me. I like to browse.
