Hey dude-
How come you never review any PC games? Most PC games kick the crap out of console games, yet I never see anything reviewed.

computer games really piss me off like that too!!
I can't get any of the good games to work with it and it's always freezing plus u need different controls for certain games and u need to install them and did I already mention that all the newer computers can't play the older games that were actually worth playing?!!

I'd figure for all the damn comics columns we got, MPS could afford another videogame column, but anything with a little less of console-centric slant would be nice.
In any case, E3's around the corner, w00t!

My reasons for not doing PC games are numerous, but the main three are this:
I can't rent PC games
I don't really LIKE PC games
and I have a laptop, and not a full computer
Sorry, but there probably won't be many PC reviews from me. I've always been a console guy, and i remain as such.
I mean, hell, i got an XBOX for this column, what more do you people want from me, to sleep with RICKI LAKE or something? AN XBOX!
Unclean...must...get...clean...

What does THAT mean? Did you not want the XBOX, the most powerful and state-of-the-art system on the market? I don't get what you are trying to say, here. I would think anyone reviewing for consoles would have them all, anyway.......

I feel your pain Ian lol. It must have been very difficult to actually walk up to the store counter and tell the clerk you wanted an xbox.
It's not about the processing power when it comes to xbox, it's the thought of buying bill gates whore of a console.

Lol outer,
thats the same effect as when you are 16 and try to buy porn magazines from a normal newsagent, half embarassed, but its something you want. hell I was still like that aged 19 trying to buy porn mags from a proper sex shop.

AH HA! I always pegged you as a PS2 fanboy.
You people disgust me, the same ones who let the Dreamcast flounder and die with one of the greatest collections of games of any console to date. Why? In order to get raped by Sony with a laughable launch line up and shortages.
Are people so myopic that they don't realize Sony is by far the most likely candidate for monopolizing the industry? Keep the ignorant "Bill Gates is the devil" mindset if you want, but businessmen are all immoral and at least MS is innovating with more advanced hardware and an online network.
A monopoly is the easiest way to get ripped off (wanna see the profit margins on Windows XP?), all Sony supporters are now pushing for a monopoly. The only hope for the industry is too keep some competition in it, and since Sony is litterally decimating the Nintendo and MS, I'll root for anyone making the competition more equal. Casual gamers don't care about this though, they assume Sony is the best and most innovating because it has the most marketshare and mindshare.
Oh, and about the insults, I don't really care. It's actually fitting that an MPS column should be skewed to the casual gamer, I just like calling people fanboys.

I understand your point of view, but its hard to call Sony lacking in terms of technology or lineup. Have you played any game on the X-Box that surpasses the graphics to any significant amount? Not to mention half of Sony's fanbase was created because they know how to broker good deals with software companies. Squaresoft alone is responsible for millions of PS, and PS2 fans.
I think what scares people away from the Xbox is having endured years of the Blue Screen of Death on thier windows PC's, thanks to the wonderful Microsoft corporation. And when the Store Demo Xbox's started crashing all over the country it hit a little too close to home. I personally now use Windows XP, and I'm sublimely happy that they have finally taken the care to make a stable platform. I think that if they can stick around long enough, people will welcome the lets see (3.1, 95, 98, ME, XP) fifth time around for the xbox as well.
As for the Dreamcast, Sega killed that off all on thier own, with bad marketing and game liscensing, just as they did with every other console they launced. That's why they don't make them anymore. By the time the Dreamcast came around it was too little too late. The world had been burned by Sega too many times to put thier trust in them again.
But all of the above is just my wanton desire to rant needlessly so take it all with a grain of salt lol.

But the reasons are true, I bought a PS2 cause of squaresoft and also because of konami. Most the games I've kept for psone are squaresoft and konami titles
My friend is won over by anything Resident evil (okay he didn't get a dreamcast, but he bought code veronica when it came out on ps2.)
I just dont want an x-boxbecause I am not fond of FPS with keyboard and mouse, I play like a fish out of water with a control pad. The demo I played of gotham racer was annoying control wise and I just didn't like the games, my friend got a ps2 before me so I was able to sample most titles and build up a fanbase for certain titles so I knew what to get when I had my console. people say its not the companies, but Gamecube might have died months ago had it not been for the exclusive resident evil's they've signed from capcom.
And well X-box, they had to flat out buy companies out :/ and thats hardly a good tactic.

Ummmmm.....put Max Payne or Splinter Cell side by side on a ps2 and an xbox and tell me there is no graphical difference....you can keep your jaggy, stuttering ps2 and GTA, for all I care. Just wait until the Matrix games are out, then we will see who has the next-gen graphical firepower.
God, I hate the Gaystation Boo.

Replying to Dr3vil:

Now, don't get me wrong. I loved the Dreamcast as much as the next guy, and still play it a good bit now and then. And yes, i may be a bit PS2 biased at times, but I do try to give EVERY system a fair shot. Honestly though, i sell these things as part of my REAL day job, and most people out there agree, PS2 is tops. I have heard so many complaints about the Xbox it'd make your head spin.
<<Are people so myopic that they don't realize Sony is by far the most likely candidate for monopolizing the industry? Keep the ignorant "Bill Gates is the devil" mindset if you want, but businessmen are all immoral and at least MS is innovating with more advanced hardware and an online network.>>
It's not that i'm worried about someone monopolizing an industry...it's craptacular hardware i'm worried about. The Xbox just doesn't do it for me. Yeah, the graphics are a tinch smoother, but there's numerous amounts of lag to make up for it, the system has unpredicatble bouts of freezing, and the original controller is big enough to get inside and drive to your grandmother's house in. Each system has it's own pros and cons, yes, but overall, i prefer the PS2.
<<A monopoly is the easiest way to get ripped off (wanna see the profit margins on Windows XP?), all Sony supporters are now pushing for a monopoly. But it has the most marketshare and mindshare because it actually IS the best. Gamers buy what they want to buy, what they like to play, and they, for the most part, could give two craps less what the "market" is doing. It sells because it's got the most amount of games, the best games, and the most comfortable unit for gaming. Plain and simple, it's a gamers game machine. Take a look at how often Xbox games go down in price over the PS2 versions (or even games not released for PS2) and you'll see that most gamers know what they're buying into, and so far, The X ain't it.
<<Oh, and about the insults, I don't really care. It's actually fitting that an MPS column should be skewed to the casual gamer, I just like calling people fanboys. >>
Fair enough...though, admitedly, i'm pretty much a fanboy. Since birth.
I'm not a specific gaming fanboy, mind you. I like games, and that's about it. Get me a good game, and i'm a happy guy. The most consistant system for good games? Anyone wanna take a guess?

The Atari 2600, of course. PITFALL, KABOOM!, BERZERK, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, ADVENTURE...that system's games were can't-miss every time!

Chris, I think you missed out mario bros, ghostbusters, q-bert, centipede and another I cant remember the title of. Those were the days where end of game sequences didn't matter, just getting a high score and totally being the king/loser in those 2 player bouts of who gets the bigger score.

That's the end all perfect description for that thirty pound monster. I feel like I'm hefting up a small child to play a game instead of a controller.

Those games were awesome. Especially Kaboom! I still have a pc version that I play quite frequently, but its never the same without the paddle controller. I still have Atari in a box somewhere, maybe I should go dig it out. Then again the days of playing games without a save feature make me quiver with fear lol.
But that was the beauty of those games, they was no need to save, just play for as many points as you could, take a polaroid of the screen for high score proof, and send it off to Atari Age magazine.
Chris i've got to disagree with you on "Raiders" i just could never get into that game, maybe because i lost the instruction booklet so i was as lost as a duck in a desert trying to play that game.
