after listening to the episode I just needed to know how many movies were from the two companys and found that they both have wikipedia pages. so here is the dc list (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_based_on_DC_Comics) and here is the marvel list (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_based_on_Marvel_Comics). after looking at these two who comes out the winner? Dark Horse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Horse_Comics#Films)!

Marvel may have always been bigger, but DC has always been better
I always saw it as Marvel being like Disney and DC being like Looney Tunes, so the recent acquisition by The House of Mouse seemed quite fitting to me.
I am no aficionado, but my favourite comic book characters are, and always have been Batman and Superman (and for some reason I don't understand I have a real soft spot for Green Lantern), so DC has always seemed better to me. Hardcore readers of both, however, (Aaron for one, and a few others) tell me that Marvel respects its characters backstories more, whereas DC just shits on continuity quite liberally.

Since Marvel is now owned by Disney and DC is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. It is indeed quite fitting :p

I state again though, I don't know why. I've never read a single Green Lantern comic...ever. I just think he's...kinda...cool I suppose is the word I'm looking for. The whole ring thing is pretty sweet, and the uselessness against yellow is just so damn weird that it's awesome.
I watched First Flight though, and it was really good.

Well ever since Brand New Day that can kinda be called into question.
It's weird, I started off as a Marvel reader. I got into comics because of the X-Men movie, but I don't know, I ended up jumping to DC and I've been a hardcore reader of there's ever since.

Yup, First Flight is a great introduction for those who don't know all that much about the mythos. I'll have to see about getting a softcover copy of Sinestro Corps War to send over to you.

I was into GL before the 2005 relaunch but Geoff (and Ivan Reis) have made the series for me, it's really the GL books I genuinely look forward to reading every month. TT is ok, but I'm getting tired of all the good characters leaving the team or dying :(

First, let me say that I love it when you guys talk about real shit.
About the who violence discussion. I'm more of the belief of peace in general. It's best to avoid any kind of violence if possible. However, if it gets to the point where someone physically threatens you, and there's no way out, then it becomes a matter of self defense, beat the high holy hell out of the guy. I don't believe it's a matter of pride, I think it's a matter of self preservation.
Concerning the spanking issue. I don't see anything wrong with spanking. You can't just let your kids run around and do what they want when they don't know any better. I think it's been proven that time outs don't do shit. You can tell them to go to their room and it's not going to have the same effect as a belt to the ass. I've gotten spankings before and they've straightened me out.
At a certain age, you can't treat them as equals, because they're not. They don't have the same knowledge and experience that you have, you have to be the authority. I'm not saying you have to be Sinestro and rule them with the yellow light of fear, but to some slight degree there should be an element of fear. I know I've avoided doing really dumb shit for fear of my dad whooping my ass. You can't be too lenient and let them do what they want otherwise they start to lose respect, and they wont see you as parents. Now I don't condone spankings for every little thing like spilling some juice or something. But for the real major acts.
If you ever wanted to see a giid endorsement for spankings, look no further: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcqOgnQyXp4

matt, loved how you said that nobody could ever say anything to you to make you violent, yet on a previous cast you said your self that you 'jumped up on the couch and was ready to punch jessie'.
also spanking is absolutely needed before a child can understand the basics of the English (or what ever) language.

So, BallsMonkey, how do you feel about the Turtles being sold to Nickelodean?
Thanks for asking.
That Wednesday I found out, at first I was pissed, that quickly subsided. Then for hours I was sad. Not because the Turtles would essentially be "kiddie-fied"(they already had been since 1987), but because it meant the end of the comic book. Tales of the TMNT ends at number 70, The artist are going their own separate ways, the Mirage Source Book and any hope of any future trades have been canned, nothing would ever be the same.
But I'm pretty much over it. I'm happy for Peter Laird he doesn't have to be a business man anymore and he can go back to being an artist(plus he can still publish up to 18 books a year if he wants,). And I'm also happy that this ensures the Turtles last for another generation. Who knows, maybe Nick will have the right ideas. These characters do have appeal and Nickelodeon probably sees that, otherwise they wouldn't have offered 60 mil for them. All I can do is stop bitching, remember the good times, and hope things work out for the best.
All I want to know is how this deal affects the already announced movie.
And Friend

I'm interested in this street interview concept. It could be interesting, especially if you come upon some whacked out nutjob.
I listened to the new episode today before work and as I listened I started feeling bad for Jesse about feeling defected and having to move back to a small town in Alabama. Near the end of the episode I looked up Mobile, Alabama only to find out that Mobile is bigger than the city I live in........... My sympathy died at that moment when I realized that the "Hick Town" that Jesse is going to move to is bigger, then I thought about how insignificant my dreams are because I live here..... I did not leave the episode in a great mood because I have yet to even try to build a career and Jesse is already throwing in the towel it sounds like.
In closing I am the loser.

Definitely not throwing in the towel. The arena is just moving to a smaller location.

Like I said at the top of the page, I only recently discovered Bagged and Boarded. But what a bombshell! Just when you get used to a shows format, it could all be change!
Thanks for the shows you've done that I have listened to.....the only positive being that I have plenty of back episodes to plough through. Hope eveything goes well for you Jesse....Matt, I hope you can cope without Jesse.
BTW, the SKYPE idea should still work and I hope you think about that method. If you do and it don't work out....fair enough.
What else to say......hope all goes well **shrugs**

Ok. to be clear. Jesse WILL return to the show, in a regular capacity, but not for a few months.
As far as the skype alternate, I hate to pull the curtain, but at least 10 shows we've already done have been recorded using skype, thousands of miles away from eachother.
so no fears... jesse will be back. And yeah, it'll be skyped unless he can learn how to use editing software...

Matt, you bring out the anger management in me. When you said Jim Lee saved comics I about shit my self. Then when you told Jesse that Chris Claremont Didn't write the X-Men relaunch and that neither of you knew who did... fuck me.
I maybe alone in saying this, but Jim Lee was the reason I quit reading X-Men, and pretty much comics altogether back then. I can't stand that guys comic book art. I'm not saying he can't do some amazing work, I just hate the way he drew his comics. everything was so angular and his lines never connected.
As for marvel holding up DC, as of right now, I don't see that happening. Of the titles on my pull, only one marvel book is on it and that's 'Marvelous Land of Oz'.
Great show guys, its good to have Jesse back in full force. and I really dig that you play the theme song at the end too. But why did you edit it Matt? and are you going to edit Jesse's part about Quickstop?

Yeah, I toyed with the idea for a short time before I realized that every mook with a computer and a mic had a podcast... present company excluded. ;)

Don't listen to those mooks, Jim. Everything you need to know is just a mouse click (http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/e0b40f2e73/the-cabin-fever-guide-to-podcasting) away.

You do some great emoting, Ian. You guys all had me in stitches. The twins, too. When they walk through the door all dressed for diner, awkwardly struggling to get through, then Brians nervous facial contortions matched with Aarons suave, crooked grin...that kills me every time. There are too may good moments to name. And I love it when you guys are barely keeping it together.
I've watched that video a lot and only noticed the god/science lighting credit when I posted it here. Little shit like that I appreciate. Python used to do that too. I love it when people fuck with the credit rolls.
You guys all nailed it. Comic giants in my world, each and every one.
Gnats! I'm sorry, I meant gnats, not giants. ;)
