I couldn't find a thread for body modifications! If you've got them, lets see them! Why not share the story behind them too? Piercings, tattoos, etc etc.

I've had a few piercings:
http://photos-f.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v195/1/40/768825157/n768825157_2502965_6339.jpg
14g septum [middle of my nose] and my 14g snakebites [on my bottom lip], which were fresh when this photo was taken. Hence the teary eyes and lack of facial movement.
I've taken all those out and now have these:
http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-snc1/v316/200/6/566915525/n566915525_3917968_9905.jpg
I JUST downsized them today, so the picture isn't 100% accurate.
I now have a 16g microgem in my medusa [the top one], and another curved 16g microgem in vertical labret [the bottom one]!
Please mind my drunken nature in the picture. It was the day before my friend moved to China, so we had to send her out in style.

I only have one tattoo, but I love it dearly.

It's a claddagh, which is an Irish symbol meaning love, loyalty and friendship. They're typically seen on rings, but I wanted to get something more permanent. It's for some of my family who are very Irish, and I remember as a kid there being alot of prayer banners and such around my great grandmothers house. I learned when I was about 12 that they weren't actually my blood relatives, and my Grandpa is actually my Step-Grandpa. Over time I grew to love them all even more, because they never treated myself or my parents any different. Shit, I never felt like the odd one out or anything like that. So to me, that was a true testament of what the claddagh represents!
I didn't design it, I actually picked my artist because thats his own unique style. I flew from Alberta to BC to get it done, and didn't see the drawing until the day before. Took 8 hours, and it was one of the best experiences of my life! The shop had a really positive environment... shit, we watched the first season of Metalocalypse, haha!

When I was young I saw at least 3 piercings 'removed' from their owners in an unkind fashion so I've completely avoided them.

Any piercings I received were involuntary and involved things more akin to broken bottles, knives and 'pointy' objects. (which several of us elaborated on in a scars thread).

No tattoos.....yet.

Funny enough, it isn't even the same. I CAN'T STAND getting shots. Getting a tattoo wasn't that bad.

i'm a pretty big fan of the endorphin rush from getting pierced/tattooed. well, with exception of my first piercing... my septum.
this guy who apparently was a piercer for 8 years, studied with a doctor, etc etc completely fucked it up. he went through my cartilage, and i puked like five minutes later.
the second time i had it done was a MUCH better experience.

I have a needle fear too, which is probably why I'm so into the tattoo/piercing thing. Y'know, overcoming and all that. If my cam software was somewhere I could find it, I'd get pics on here...oh well.

Chelsea is hott.

I'll be honest, I will prefer my woman to not have any tats whatsoever. Its not like I wouldn't get with a girl if she had or not date her if she had them. I just don't like them on my woman. I prefer my woman to be au-natural.

I don't mind em' on other people, but I highly doubt I'll ever get a tattoo or piercing in this lifetime. As for the needle thing, I went through years of allergy injections, and on a few occasions the nurse f*cked up and injected allergents directly into a nerve. As far as I can tell that's a much worse pain than any tatt.

JK
08-26-2008, 10:47 AM
When I got the two tats on my chest, oh boy... that hurt more than anything I've ever experienced. There's a bundle of nerves that run right through there and every time the needle went over that area, it felt like electric ice water shooting up into my head and down to my finger tips. I thought I could smell burnt toast a couple of times...

The only two tats I didn't fall asleep during...

DarthMaulRat
08-26-2008, 11:01 AM
Yeah, I imagine just about anything involving a straight shot to the nerves is gonna hurt like hell. When my nerves got hit, my arms would twitch uncontrollably and feeling would fluctuate between going numb and feeling like my muscle was going to flex through my skin. That would continue for the better part of an hour. After a few years of injections, the skin on my arms became extra leathery, so the nurses would have to do a quick stabbing motion with the hypodermic just to pierce my skin. Of course that's a much less accurate way to place a needle, and do-overs were often in order. Fun times, fun times.

Whats wrong with saying my woman? Its the same as saying my girl/baby/lady etc. I have respect for any woman(so long as she respects herself.) I didn't mean it in a derogatory way like shes a piece of property.

another reason not to get a tattoo....drunkeness or sheer stupidity led to this guy's decision.

I'd guess that in your head it probably sounded ok,
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d84/missmeganp/WeirdScience28.jpg
but you wouldn't say that in a room full of women....and walk out with your dignity or manhood still attached. Rarrh.

But, to be sure, we'd have to ask one of the women who post on QSE if they agree or disagree.

Unfortunately they may not care what either one of us says or posts.;)

There's some weird stat about the percentage of people who tattoo their faces and then kill themselves within a year. I think it was half but I'm not sure...

Hmmm. I did use that word 3 times and it started to sound weird as I read my own post. But girl is usually directed towards younger females while Woman is directed to older ones. It gives them more adult like status. "Woman" commands more authority. Thats the only reason I used that word. I wonder if I said that in a room filled with women if they'd attack me. I'd be helpless if they decided to strike.

I feel really sorry for the guy with the Dell tattoo. I have one tattoo and I'm currently gauging my ears, I'm at 6. I had my labret pierced but took it out because it was causing my gums to recede like a bitch. My brother and I are going to have someone design a celtic knot that we are both going to get.

I heard that the average lifespan for someone with a facial tattoo is 2 years (after the tattoo is in place).

I narrowly missed getting a tattoo, instead I got a tongue piercing, and then another one six months later. I think I still have the hole even though I took out the stud years ago.

I always was preferential to scarring, I think it looks awesome.
