I was just perusing the member list and I was wondering why so many people register and never post...
They go through the trouble of filling out the form, loading an avatar and a profile pict, listing their bio and interests, and then..?
Nothing. Right now there are 467 people who signed up and never came back.
Do they get their jollies through filling out forms? I can think of at least a dozen things more arousing than filling in the blanks.

When money is involved, I let someone else do the forms.
That's why I use TurboTax...

I think it's the for the same reason that people go to a lot of work making a MySpace or Facebook profile...for social networking...and then mark it as private. Gahey.

I can relate to that. I remember finding it difficult when I was a noob. This place is so close-knit, you feel you have no right to join in. I use to choose carefully what I said, now I just post anywhere - don't think twice about it.

I don't think it's so hard to be a part fo this place.
I started posting a few months ago i think, and I never felt "out of place" anymore then I do at any new online community.
And as to the actual topic of this thread- I bet 90% of the people who register then forget their passwords. OR like me, their validation email ends up in the junk mail and they don't find it for a few weeks.

At any point has there been a box during the registration process you could tick to recieve Kevin Smith newsletters or anything similar? There must be another reason why people sign up.

Maybe it's just people who are very fond of their User ID names and can't bear the thought of someone else using it on another web site. So they register it everywhere just to keep others from using it.

Well it was a pain to register. Every time the screen popped up, the captcha wasn't loaded. It took two or three days of intermittent checking before it popped on screen.
Maybe I was subconciously getting back at the system by witholding my colorful commentary.
