Supposedly it was to stop some ethnic cleansing or some shit. Russia will annihilate them in like two weeks, and then 10 years later return claiming that Georgia has WMD's. Oh. Wait. I might be getting my super powers confused...

There was no ethnic cleansing.
Ossetia is a region that crosses both borders. The Russians have staked claims on south Ossetia for a long time now they've moved their troops in but they're also bombing between Poti and Gori

This is aggressive behaviour and pretty fucking scary especially considering how much of the Watchmen I've been reading lately
I think there are a lot of Russians living in Southern Ossetia as well.. Anyone else notice Putin is still very much in charge of Russia?

Thats how they stake claims on it. They say they're doing this for their citizens

Wasn't Russia backing a separatist group that was attacked by the Georgians? That's a page out of the cold war book right there.

It all seems very underhanded right now.
The Russians are currently blocking all trade going in or out of the Georgian docks.
They say they'll be letting oil through but reports came in that they attempted to bomb an oil line going from Georgia to mainland Europe.
It's mental!

Heard Bush doesn't like it, but the question is, will he do anything about it...? Who knows. Everybody is freaking crazy as far as I'm concerned.

Man, I heard about that! "Oil for blood Part 3!" Russia is getting ugly again. The think I read Russia is also slipping money and promises to some of the breakaways (like Abkhazia) to get them to come back to mother Russia.

As long as it doesn't go all "The Bear and the Dragon" I'm not going to panic.
Tell me about it. China is definitely Empire building like crazy now. Hopefully, taiwan/china relations will continue to improve (they have been) because that is the kindling for WW3. If China invaded Taiwan....no, just no.

I met a friend about a month ago. A really nice girl who was one of the people to have went skydiving with me and my bud. We became pretty cool and she went back to her home in Georgia for VACATION. And now all this shit is happening. I feel bad for her. Especially when she told me what its like out there. I can't even imagine. I hope it stops immediately.
