What are the best animated TV shows on DVD I'm gonna make My top 5 based on a number of factors Commentary Included so here goes:

1. Family Guy
funny, great commentary that is sometimes funnier than the writing itself, and just has so many quick sight gags you have to watch more than once

2. Invader Zim
Strange, Dark, Hilarious, Better on DVD somehow, and the commentary is well awesometacular

3. The Venture Brothers
Simply the greatest show ever animated or not, and makes 3 and not 1 simply cause I saw family guy first, and fell in love with it first, on season one the commentary is spectacular, especially one gem where Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer discuss which Venture character they would fuck, including Dean Venture

4. Aqua Teen
Frankly there is nothing to say that hasnt been already said

5. Futurama
It may not be obvious but the story arc is truly epic in this animated series, and frankly its hilarious, and also has some very touching episodes, which I'll admit has brought a tear to My eye once or twice

Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Family Guy are the ones I watch the most. Every now and then i break out the old school GI-Joe and Transformer cartoon movies from back in the day.

Transformers Beast Wars was the shit!!

1. The Simpsons (Season 1-10)
What can I say? A shit load of classic episodes right in those ten season. A commentary for each episode. Great special features. The show might not be worth a bag of beans now, but back in the day it was God. If the show's quality today was like it was back in the day, this show would make Family Guy it's bitch every week. Leaving it in a puddle of blood and seme..... maybe I should just stop there.

2. Futurama
I agree with devilsrevolver. This was and still is an epic show. They had storylines written out years in advance. And yes. This show was emotional. (I still damn near tear up after "The Luck of the Fryrish" and "Jurassic Bark") And like the Simpsons, they do a commentary for every episode.

3. The Venture Brothers
If you're like me you watch the entire first or second season once a week. (Just got done season 2 again a few days ago.) Maybe after they knock out a few more seasons this'll be number 1. Or at least number 2. But I want to see if they can keep up the quality I've become accustom to.

4. Beavis and Butt-Head
I love Beavis and Butt-Head. I don't know what to say about this one.

5. Invader Zim
Great show. Very funny. I'm amazed what they got away with. (Dark Harvest anyone?)

The Boondocks are cool, South Park is past it's prime but was very cool and Beavis & Butthead were good fun.

I've really gotten into Death Note since we started offering it on-demand. A couple of the episodes were pretty intense. Big O is good, as well.

Disagree, it is still hitting the standards it always has.

I remember Cartoon Network used to have some awesome kids cartoons like Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Laboratory and Ed, Edd n Eddy. I still quote Ed, Edd n Eddy all the time without realizing it.

devilsrevolver

Angry Beavers was the shit, and Ed Edd and Eddy was truly epic, i also liked some of the old disney shows like Darkwing Duck, Tale Spin, and shit like that, plus lets be honest and go back even further...the original Looney Tunes was so fucking classic, nothing really tops it

JK
08-03-2008, 09:51 PM
Yeah, but the original Looney Tunes were theatrical releases...

OrangesofDeath

It's hard to see someone fail so badly. :p

Even though they on't count, Looney Tunes were cool. Although they're a bit repetative to make any of my top lists in anything.

JK

There's no failure. I'd wager no one on these boards ever saw any of 'em in a theater along with a news reel. Hell, the only exposure I had was growing up Saturday mornings. Just pointing out some trivia.

point for you, Mr. Samson, anyway, they truly were the first great animated Characters, screw mickey mouse and all that mouseketeer shit, Bugs and Daffy is where its at, but in terms of animated TV shows, I think we are missing one, lemme think um its like on the tip of My tongue, fuck I cant think of it, but lately on cartoon network there is a new breed of show, that is cool as fuck check out if you get the chance, The Misadventures of Flapjack and Chowder

JK

...The Misadventures of Flapjack...

They don't pay me enough to watch that...

Duckman, oh and I guess I liked spider-man from the mid 90's even though they had alot of stuff from the comics watered down (harry becomes the new goblin but his dad was speaking to him from an alternate dimension. I know I didn't like the two series that came after (unlimited and MTV's) and so I havent even bothered with Spectacular.

devilsrevolver
08-04-2008, 03:44 PM
Flapjack is so fucked up its awesome, and the new spiderman is interesting, its essentially the Ultimate Spiderman from the comics adapted for TV, not saying its great but its good, and the tv show The Batman in the beginning was so fucking awesome, I cant describe it, like I said was, it got kinda lame afterwards especially the movie where He fought dracula, shit Im on a rant again...

For anyone wanting a good dose of decent Cartoon Network these days I find Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends far too amusing.

...the episode with 'Cheese' in it being the best!

Samurai Champloo. I loved every episode of this season. The artwork, the music, the storyline, the action it was all sweet wrapped up in a nice package. Cartoon Network only showed one season of it. I think there are others but do they follow the same characters? If so I need to go out and purchase those immediately. Do tell if you have info on this.

Its a shame. I was hoping for more. I wonder if they will ever resume it one day. It totally deserves another season.

I am currently enjoying Code Monkeys, some of it might be lost on modern gamers but retro gamers should definitely check it out, whole plays out like south park meets river city ransom with a little bit of clerks thrown in.

Edit: it's come to my attention that this is a Podcast series which I geuss makes sense because the pixellated format would look garish on a bigger screen.

I was given a Transformers Season 2 boxset a few years back. Never watched it apart from the animation blooper reel.

Anyone ever hear of a show called Kid Notorious? I saw a few episodes on Comedy Central but they stopped showing it. I thought it was pretty funny. And cool.

I thought season 1 was good. Maybe just for the nostalgia. But I bought season 2 and couldn't stay awake for a single episode.

OOhh I have that on DVD! After he died in the movie, my world was shattered until I found this DVD one rainy Sunday morning back in 2000 at best buy.

The world was righted the day.

I also found a 'Return of Optimus Prime' VHS tape recently.

Tell me if they fixed the animation mistake. When it first aired it came on while I was on the bus for school, so I used to tape Transformers. The Return of O.P. had a great mistake where Rodimus Prime was talking to a statue of Optimus and said something to the accord of "Are you trying to tell me I am not as good a leader as you, I already know that". Then Rodimus' head just starts jutting back and forth on his torso. It used to make me and my best friend crack up. A mistake that big should have been fixed long before airtime.

I plan on watching it soon. I'll let you know.
