Here's my second attempt at a music thread.
I was thinking about how I have some go-to songs for different things -- a song for cruising, a song that pumps me up when I'm angry, a song that puts me to sleep, a song that keeps me in a good mood while I'm on my way to work in the morning. So what are everyone's go-to songs -- even if they're just the first songs you want to hear when you put in an album?
My go-to songs of the moment are, in no particular order:
Drunken Punchup at a Wedding by Radiohead (Hail To The Theif)
Ambulance by Blur (Think Tank)
Lateralus by Tool (Lateralus)
Luetin by Underworld (A Hundred Days Off)
My Dad's Gone Crazy by Eminem (The Eminem Show)
Taxi Ride by Tori Amos (Scarlet's Walk)
I-E-A-I-A-I-O by System of a Down (Steal This Album)

Anything by SLOAN. I stopped listening to them for a while, and I started again and realized how much I love them.

The absolute best song for driving, that will just pump you right up and make it impossible not to speed is "Tahitian Moon" by Porno for Pyros.

Actually, the best thing to play when you're in a hurry, you really have to get somewhere, and you've got to do some weaving through traffic, is the Indiana Jone Theme, by John Williams.

Speaking of theme songs, Magnum P.I. ain't too shabby either.

I promise you I will put the Indiana Jones theme song on a CD and use it for just that purpose though. I have a soundclip of a McLaren F1 accelerating to 200 mph -- that one's fun to crank in my Saturn SL1.

Your the second person that I have told that I have the Indy theme on CD for driving who has vowed to do the same. Soon, you will all come to my side! I am slowly taking control of the world, one CD at a time.

Yeah! Pantera! Raises her fingers in the sign of the devil, and watches the neighbors get really scared

Being that all I know about how you look is from your avatars, I am laughing quite hard. Imagine Zens dressed up as She-ra, rocking out to some Pantera songs. Meanwhile, her neighbors are leaning against the fence saying, "That girl ain't right".

For driving: Kid by the Bouncing Souls (Hopeless Romantic)I was a little punk rock kid at one time, and I still think these guys are good.

Going to sleep: Incident on 57th Street by Bruce Springsteen (The Wild, the Innocent, & the E Street Shuffle) Since I sold my Camaro over the weekend, I've been in mourning and listening to sad Bruce Springsteen songs about cars. This is my new favorite album, I tell you what.

For pumping myself up 1234 by Helicopter Helicopter (Wild Dogs with X-Ray Eyes) I got to see these cats live a couple of weeks back. I was really impressed by them and bought their album at the show. This song deals with all of the intangibles that can get in someones way, and not being bothered with the things that cannot be controlled.

Accismus by Forget Cassettes (Instruments of Action) just because I have to pimp for my local favorites. They do a really good job of this song live.

[/ QUOTE ]Well - of the avatars, I most closely resemble She-Ra if she had no helmet and wore vintage t-shirts. My neighbors do think I am odd most of the time, especially the cop next door who listens to R.Kelly 24 hours a day. Can I get a toot-toot? Can I get a beep-beep?

Here is my mix-tape for this month:
Driving: Foo Fighters - All My Life, Helicopter Helicopter - Harsh Light, Rhett Miller - The El, The Roots - Seed 2.0, QOTSA - Go With the Flow, Sparklehorse - Someday I Will Treat You Good, The Black Keys - I'll Be Your Man, Wilco - Casino Queen/Heavy Metal Drummer, Whiskeytown - Hard Luck Story, Bruce Springsteen - No Surrender, Sterophonics - More Life in a Tramps Vest

Chilling Out: Ryan Adams - Come Pick Me Up/Monday Night, Jayhawks - Save It For a Rainy Day, Bob Dylan - Most of the Time, Johnny Cash - Hurt, The Eels - Love of the Loveless, Ed Harcourt - Undertaker Strut, Tom Waits - A Little Drop of Poison, Evan Dando - All My Life, Foo Fighters - Everlong (Acoustic version), Jump Little Children - Close Your Eyes

Just to make me laugh: The Legendary Shack Shakers - The CB Song

The fact that she looks like The Princess of Power but in vintage T-shirts?

I think this is why the hubber puts up with liquid soap and locked door issues.
