That's right folks, it's back.
After a decent competition last year with some surprisingly good scores from our American contingent on the board (and a foul one from one of the English... I'm looking at you Antonio) I'm hoping to up the ante on this years league.

The QSE Championship is now open for business.
The Premiership kicks off on the 16th of August so you have a month to register and join up.

-Go to http://fantasy.premierleague.com
-If you have registered before just log in with your old password, if not then sign up. They don't ask you for any personal stuff so it will be a quick registration.
-Make up your team. Don't worry if you're undecided about who to pick, you can make unlimited changes to your squad up until the start of the season.
-Go to your leagues option in your menu bar and enter the following code 247234-56467 then you'll be added to our league.

For any more information, just ask.
I'll be announcing the league on Cabin Fever as I'm hoping to get as many people involved as possible.

There are some nice tweaks to the system this year, but you can read all about that when you join up.

I'll leave this to the people who actually enjoy socce.....errrr..football.C'mon, it's fun. I had absolutely no clue last year, and did okay I guess. At first I took some transfer chances, then was obsessed with building an awesome midfield, then worrying my strikers weren't good enough, then trying to fit Lampard into my team (which meant changing a LOT of players around)

Doesn't sound the wisest of moves. Lampard's still looking to leave Chelsea before the end of this transfer window.

I think I pretty much have a sound squad, staking alot on Pompey's backline though.

I haven't got a single Chelsea player. Big Phil's a new manager, so i'm not too sure how he'll tinker the squad. Really wanted to pick wright-phillips but he's almost never selected. All i'm really trying to say is that picking any Chelsea player is too much of a risk 'cause no-one knows how/who Scolari'll play.

I'm banking it all on having a strong midfield. Anyone else differing from 4-4-2?

Don't dismiss the defenders.
If they do nothing other than the team keeping a clean sheet they get 6 points.
If a midfielder does nothing but keep a clean sheet you get 3 points.

Defenders are great when you're convinced they're going to have a stalemate that week.

When you log in, and click the Transfer button on the left hand side - after the transfer page has loaded, on the right there should be a list with 'leaders' and 'score total' already selected. These players are the ones who earned the highest points last season. Try removing some players and trying to fit as many of these into your team. Granted, they may not do as well this season, but it sounds like a better choice than to have the computer mix and match your team.

Would anybody pick Ronaldo when he's obviously pissed at United? He's not going to play his best this season, he wants to give Sir Alex a reason to ship him away.

Jeremie Aliadiere played quite a few times last season (26) but only managed 5 goals. Kinda pitiful. I wouldn't really pick him though, methinks Alves is set to be Mids' striker to watch this season.

Yeah, I looked up Cole, couldn't get into the first team towards the end of last season.

3-4-3 is a good formation if you're gonna play 3 good strikers. I mean, look at Derby last year, no-one would have wanted a Derby striker last year. The team couldn't score for love nor money.

I was the same last season with all Arsenal players. I just wouldn't pick them - out of rivalry and sheer dislike. But in the end, for the sack of points, I picked three players. (And have done so this year too)

If the rules are the same as last season:

You can make one free transfer per game week. Any other transfers you make in one game week will cost you 3(?) points deducted from your overall score.
You also have one wildcard during the season which allows you to make as many free changes as you like during one game week.

I can't figure out why some of my players (Benayoun and Gamst Pedersen) didn't play last week. Is there somewhere I can go to find out beforehand if someone is going to sit out for some reason or another? I know that if a player is suspended or injured their little icon goes to red or yellow, but I still don't know why those other guys sat the week out.

I think that's just down to whichever manager changing around his team selection. Benayoun doesn't play every game for Liverpool. He's more of a sub. I'm surprised by Pederson, he usually plays. He may have picked up a knock in training.

If ever I'm unsure if a player may/may not play. I go to the teams official site and quickly checkout the team news. Usually the manager is quoted as saying, 'so and so' will be playing next.

Antonio's right, Benayoun is more of a fringe player at liverpool.

If you're willing to take a suggestion, I would say you should swap Benayoun (6.8) for Denilson (6.5). Denilson's already done well this season and Wenger has a history of sticking by his young players. Just look at Cesc Fabregas.

My first quickstop post! And sadly, it is only to gloat. I'm the elusive lurker who jumped into the league late on and snuck my way to the top, otherwise known as the eponymous AFC Guff. (Not my favourite team name over the years; that dubious honour probably goes to just reaching the character limit with "urmumsaterroristho"... well it was topical at the time!)

Yet seeing as I don't really know anyone properly in the league I now fear for my place after Aarian Poopatrick (see what I did there? :rolleyes: ) talked of booting Randeep if he didn't make himself known.

So here I am, currently enjoying being top of all 3 leagues I'm in for the first time in the 4years I've been playing this maddening and addictive game. Thanks largely to dear old Shrek himself. Thanks "Wazza", I know you were doing it all for me really.

Maybe I'll stick around this quickstop malarky if it brings fame, fortune and the heady accolade of being the best at a largely luck-based fantasy sport :D

The Champions League features teams from the Premier League, yes. It's a completely different tournament. Usually the teams who finish in the top three/fours positions in their leagues, qualify for the C. League in the following year. Teams from every where are involved; England, Spain, France, Germany, etc.

The Opera browser makes Bit torrents sooooo easy. Do tell what I should be downloading.

You should both download a show called Match Of The Day, which is broadcast on Saturday nights on BBC 1, and another called, rather originally, Match Of The Day 2 which is shown on Sundays on BBC 2. Since the vast majority of Premier League games are played at the weekend, these two highlight shows will give you pretty much everything you need re: highlights and punditry. Between the two shows you're talking about 2 to 2 & 1/2 hours of watching a week. Depending on how much you like football that will either seem like a lot or a little time to dedicate to it.

I just did a search (http://www.mininova.org/search/?search=match+of+the+day) and there's a number of previous weeks' episodes if you're interested, otherwise just check every Sunday and Monday morning for them to pop up online. This Sunday should be particularly good, as Manchester United are playing Manchester City, and Arsenal play Chelsea - two HUGE games.

If I was going to visit the newly elected bear-pope and, theoretically, there are an infinite number of points in space between me and the bear-pope, and each point in space takes a finite period of time to traverse, so that in theory, it should take an infinite amount of time for me to reach the bear-pope, will I ever actually reach the bear-pope or am I doomed to an endless bear-popeless journey?
