View Full Version : What's the Best Drop in your Cabinet/Fridge right now.

What do you have "right now" in the fridge or Liquor Cabinet that you regard as your favorite drink in the house? Doesn't have to be alcohol for that matter (although I'm guessing most here will put booze). Nothing is wrong and I'd recommend not flaming selections (unless they are unequivically retarded like Knickerbocker beer and Mad Dog 20/20).

I don't drink soda unless mixed with booze. I only drink milk or fruit juice when I think necessary and don't enjoy it (like required nutrients). So, if I'm not drinking a cold glass of water, I'm savoring a moment with one of these (and that's one....ok maybe two...but not the whole damn bottle....unless I get unemployed and cancer in the same day):

http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee242/dtcb1/oakbar.jpg
Tanduay's 18-year-old rhum in an oak cask. Yes, good rum can be drank straight.

Balvenie Doublewood 12 year old

Dalwinnie 15 year old

Labbot and Graham Woodford Reserve

oh, and I'm out of beer, so I will not list it.

I think I've got some lemonade in the fridge, and half a bottle of ginger wine in a cabinet.

Yeah, I'm a right party animal...

A half a bottle of wine. The missus has a bottle of Smirnoff Ice and Brian left 3 cans of some weird beer called Karpackie.

I found a place in Austin (Cedar Park really) where I live that sells the Cider I like. So now I have a ton of it

When I went to the liqour store I meant to ask "Do you have Cider?" but it came out "Do you have Beer?" and then clerk looked at me like I just fucked a pig in front of him

Okay... Jen went shopping :D

(almost) Full bottle of Patrón,
(almost) Full bottle of Jack Daniel's,
Fresh bottle of Dewar's,
& some amaretto.

I'd get up to get the brand of amaretto but as you will notice I said ALMOST full bottle of Jakc.

Woodchuck is great. There's a bar in Nashville that I used to frequent that has it on tap. Even better.

The best thing in my cabinet is green tea. I don't have any thing I drink in the fridge. My favorite thing to drink is ice cold water.

Had no idea strongbow made this? I don't have much faith in Strongbow (their cider is crap) but, this Jacques looks alright. Definitely looks like their upmarket product. Will have to look around the shelves to see if its sold here.

Jaqcues is also a cider, just like a mixed fruit cider.
I must concur though, Strongbow's regular cider is fucking horrible.

Understood it would be a cider mixer but, am praying they are using a different distiller from their regular cider. A lot of distributers/brands will just pick a product from a small producer and expand on their distribution via their own (while putting their group branding). 50 bucks says "Jacques" in not from a UK brewer like regular Strongbow (which by the way is Bulmer's massed produced crap and in no way as good as Original Bulmers). Nobody in the UK is going to call their cider "Jacques." it has got to be from somewhere else.

Magners and Kopparberg for the win!

I done the unthinkable and managed to get drunk on Koppaeberg one evening at the local 'spoons. 8 bottles it took.

I wound up chasing a London-style double decker bus at 2am along a street in my town and never got to sleep until half 7 in the morning.

And if strongbow is bitter what does that make Blackthorn?

How dare you use that fake name 'round these parts! It's Bulmers dammit!!!!!

Oh, and Kopparberg tastes like Ribena, so if you're regularly drinking it obviously Strongbow will taste bitter.

Kopparberg is fantastic. I still can't see the appeal of strongbow, it's fucking awful.

Yeah, it seems there's a british cider called Bulmers that has nothing to do with the proper stuff. As a result, the real Bulmers had to change its name in the uk to Magners. Lame!

I've had them both (Magners and Bulmers, not Miguel and Phitzy) and find Scrumpy's (http://organicscrumpy.com/)just a tad better and B.F. Clyde's (www.bfclydescidermill.com/) a lot better. Yeah, yeah, they'll never be massed distributed. Agreed. Hell, I'm in Hong Kong so I'm just happy when I see Magners and Bulmers (just about every Irish and British Pub has them bottled). I can survive them both. Strongbow and Woodpecker makes me cringe and are far too prevalent.

4 years of university having this (http://www.ciderday.org/) a 10 minute bus ride away made me cider crazy. 'Cider' keg parties are something to behold. Before prohibition US was predominantly hard cider and new england is still chock full of cider mills. Toss in a few Germans who like to make Apfel korn and you are slammed.

Man, I had an awesome holiday in Corfu fuelled by that stuff. Bottles of it were so ridiculously cheap that myself and my friend went through about 15-20 of them a day, before heading out on the town each night for the real drinking to start. ;)

That was the holiday where my karting accident occurred. Obvious why really.
