I've recently been asked to compile a list of songs for the bar in the pre-show and post-show times in the theatre I work in. The show coming up is based on an old tale of a building over looking Dublin called the "Hellfire Club". In the show the devil comes to visit a group of men on Christmas Eve to play a game of cards. This wasn't paid work for me, just a favour for them.

I was asked to choose some music with "Devil" like themes. I've come up with a few such as "Sympathy for the Devil", "The Man comes Around" (not literally the devil I know), The devil went down to Georgia", and "Red right hand". I was just wondering if any of you would mind throwing a suggestion or two my way. It doesn't need to be literal in the devil aspect, just have a good mood setting. Also anything too "Loud" is out because of the clientele of the theatre I can't really play heavy metal or anything like that. (But "Number of the Beast" would be fun to play in a National Theatre.;) )

If you are talking about "When the Man Comes Around" by Johnny Cash, that is actually supposed to be about the second coming of Jesus and not about the Devil.

Oh, I know it well, just thought it fitted in. Especially with the scratchy opening speech.

Ghost Riders in the Sky - Johnny Cash - another suggestion for the man in black.

Hotel California - Eagles - Famously known for being about hell.

The Devil's Triangle - King Crimson - Instrumental only so no lyrics to hint at the theme, but its some pretty evil sounding music nonetheless.

He's Evil - The Kinks - "Wicked smile, decadent grin, He likes school girls, nuns and virgins." 'nuff said.

The Black Rider - Tom Waits - If you need a song that's both evil, violent and a polka, well here you go.

God's Away on Business, What Keeps Mankind Alive, Altar Boy... i could probably find twenty more by Tom Waits.

Tom Waits is both awesome and sauce. Thanks for all your suggestions so far everyone.

Black Sabbath - N.I.B

Frank Zappa - Titties and Beer

Led Zeppelin - Traveling Riverside Blues

Eric Clapton - Crossroads

Robert Johnson - Hellhound on My Trail

I would recommend Bon Jovi - Homebound Train, but I am not wussy enough to remember the lyrics about how the devil took his hand and he was going down on a homebound train *Ahem*

Red Alert 2 - Hellmarch. Not about the Devil, but very evil music.

Meatloaf - Bat out of Hell :)

More when I think of them.
