View Full Version : South Park episodes that CROSSED THE LINE!

Hi out there,

Not sure if there's a thread like this out there anywhere, but I just want to get everyone's opinion on those South Park episodes that, while [censored] hilarious, just made you question your own morals and whether or not the human race is in fact going to hell in a handbasket.

I know the show has always been controversial, to say the least, and that it prides itself on constantly outdoing itself. For many, the episode where Cartman's mom is revealed to be his dad was crossing the line. For even more, the movie broke new ground/crossed further over the line. I'm asking about episodes since then, when they've gone so far over to the other side, the line has become a dot barely visible on the horizon! /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif On a side note, they seem to be doing this at a much greater rate than any thought possible.

For me, it would be the episode where Mr. Garrison introduced his new friend, Mr. Slave (picture an American Rob Halford), and demonstrated the differences between endothermic and exothermic reactions by shoving Lemmiwinks the Gerbil up his ass in front of the kids. /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif /forums/images/icons/confused.gif

The one where Christopher Reeves would crack a fetus in half and then suck all the blood and tissue out was disturbing to me.

I forgot about that one.

And there was one where Cartman was collecting semen(long story) and he says "Yea, and I got half of it from this guy Rick in an alley. The dumbass didn't even charge me for. I just had to close my eyes and suck it out of a hose."

Or how about the one where Kenny would do anything for money. And then he's supposed to climb inside of Mrs. Crabtree's... And then at the end the dead boy comes out of... And then another one pops out.... Ewww....

Timmay, Tweek, Starvin' Marvin?

All three, funny, funny, FUNNY characters, but most of it is based on the 'it's funny, but should I be laughing at this?' factor.

Always a resounding yes for me, but shock factor is what makes South Park work.

I think South Park is nothing compared to that first episode of Ren and Stimpy Adult Party, "I'm the pitcher!Your the catcher!!"

Another bad one was when Cartman gave Butters a Dirty-Sanchez. It was in the skiing episode where the parents are getting a timeshare condo at the ski resort. In case you were wondering, Cartman rubbed sh!t on Butters' upper lip.

Great, now we're arguing over the correct phraseology of the unspeakable acts committed in South Park episodes! CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Oh wait, no we can't.

Anyway, great stuff from everyone. That's what I'm talkin' about! True, the show thrives on controvery, and yes, the point of this thread was to pick out the episodes that made us laugh long, hard, and very uncomfortably, like we are going to hell/the abyss/whatever atheists substitute for hell.

Along those lines, let's not forget about a recent episode called "Cherokee Hair Tampons", where the town is bled dry by an Indian Gaming Casino. The Indians try to force the South Park residents off their land using blankets infected with SARS. Of course, they infected the blankets by rubbing naked Chinese men all over them. Dude, that's just wrong! /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif

Another good one tonight! The one where the boys become junior detectives and solve crimes around the town. They wind up becoming real police detectives. Violations of "good" taste are too numerous to list, but Cartman making Butters give a semen sample sticks out in my mind (no pun intended). /forums/images/icons/smirk.gif

I don't watch South park much but the way I see it is that it's just some people saying what they think is funny I'm not saying I think it's a good thing to make these kind of cartoons I'm just saying it's your choice wether you wanna watch them or not that's why it's aired at like 12 at night so children don't stumble on it by accident.

I just remembered the one where Cartman had a little J.Lo. on his hand and Ben Affleck fell in love with it. Cartman, Hand J.Lo., and Affleck were riding in Affleck's car and he parked at the top of a cliff. Afflec then started to make out with the Hand J.Lo. and then the Hand J.Lo. started to give Affleck a hand job. Cartman then looks over and goes "Aww! Ben Affleck splooge!"

And then there was the one where Mr. Garrison, fed up with the airlines in the wake of 9-11, created that personal vehicle where you grabbed 2 phallic cylinders to steer and moved them up and down rapidly to propel you forward. You grasped another phallus in your mouth for turn signals, and you were held in place by yet another phallus stuck in your ass. Dude, that's just wrong.

Plus, Kenny died in the episode because he was carrying toe nail clippers onto a plane, and was shot for being a terrorist. True story.

Okay, here's a list of episodes that crossed the line(mostly my favorite episodes)These are not in any order.

1. The Rich blacks Episode
2. Changing the "racist flag"
3. Krazy Kenny
4. Let's give our parents herpes
5. Red rocket, red rocket
6. NAMBLA episode
7. The one where the kids cant go with the catholic priest(probably crossed the line the most)
8. Jesus vs. Satan

But South Park is the best [censored] show ever, so i love every episode.

Should "Sexual Harassment Panda" be included?

I mean, thats the ONLY one that i remember airing once.

One thing: I am never offended by anything, south park is [censored] awesome, censors and conservatives can kiss my anti-censorship ass!

There is also the one with the Brown Noise. That musical note that caused anyone who hears it to crap their pants.

In it, Mr Garrison complained to his dad that he never molested him as a child. Later, his dad felt bad and wanted to molest him, but hired Kenny G to do it instead. Towards the end of the episode, Garrison and Kenny G are kissing, and Garrison says, "You kiss like my dad."

I watched an interview on the Baseketball DVD where Matt and Trey raised some really good points about crossing the line. Technically none of the episodes cross a line because they don't have line. If you have a line or group of people that are exempt from satire then that's when they are being racist or sexist or whatever else people call them. It was a whole new way to look at things.

Despite this, I think the "sucked it out of a hose" comment during the "Simpsons did it!" epsisode made me fall off the couch.

There is also the one where Cartman trains the pony to bite off the one boys dick. It is all a trap though, so the boy's parents will get killed. Cartman then makes chili out of their bodies for the chili cook-off. When the boy finds out he ate his paren't, he starts to cry. Cartman walks over to him and starts licking his tears from his face.

Time to resurrect an old thread (mine, incidentally), which of course flies in the face of the status quo here of recreating a thread on the same thing every day.

New South Park tonight. Took time away from the game to watch. A new high, or low, depending on how you look at it. The presidential election lampooned as good as I've ever seen it: broke down the election as a choice between a giant douche and a turd sandwich! Also some nice slams on PETA; a new sig for me is definitely in the works. And P. Diddy telling us all to vote or die, quite literally.

Ingenious. Any one else see it. It's on again in an hour.

towelie99
10-27-2004, 11:30 PM
I guess I should put the last response into context. If you want to watch the episode for yourself, READ NO FURTHER.

Due to repeated attacks by PETA Ecoterrorists, SP Elementary is forced to change their mascot from the cow to something less offensive to PETA. Instead of the choices provided, the boys split up into 2 camps for write-in votes: the Giant Douche and the Turd Sandwich. Each side is determined to show everyone their better, and it becomes as bitter as the presidential election.

Stan refuses to vote, because he doesn't see the point in choosing between a Douche and a Turd, and is ridiculed by all, and threatened by P. Diddy, who then raps obscenely about "Vote or Die." Because he refuses to vote, he is banished from South Park, and has to live with the PETAites at their compound. There, they live freely and love the animals, even to the point of marriage. Stan explains why he was banished, and the head of the compound explains to him that a presidential election will always be between a Douche and a Turd, because no one else cares to make it that far.

There's other stuff, but that's the gist of it.

ratm1966
10-27-2004, 11:54 PM
I watched it. It was hilarious. Especially the exchange between Stan and his dad just before and after they find out all of the PETA people were killed.

towelie99
10-28-2004, 12:26 AM
ratm, how many times now has "douche" figured into the plot of a South Park episode? Is it Freudian somehow?

Also, remember how I was telling you that Sean Penn wrote them an email telling them how stupid they were for telling people not to vote if they don't understand the issues? Can these guys do revenge or what?

ratm1966
10-28-2004, 12:29 AM
Yeah, I just wish they would have had a Sean Penn character in this one.

towelie99
10-28-2004, 12:32 AM
I just pretended he was one of the PETAites.

Incidentally, for those who didn't see it, the PETAites are all assassinated by P. Diddy and his crew when they douse his fur coat with blood. Many of them dive in front of the animals to save them, and the animals repay them by either peeing on them or eating their dead carcasses.

Last spoiler.

TLS
10-28-2004, 12:56 PM
I saw that episode last night. It was great. I like how they always make it more [censored] up in the end. Like after Stan decides to come back and vote. The PETA peoples death made it possible for the school to keep the cow as their mascot, so his vote did not mean anything anyway. Pretty cool.

Dave
10-28-2004, 03:59 PM
I think the point about his vote not meaning anything, was that when he cast it, the count was so lopsided in favor of ( i can't remember - like Stan i can't really tell the diff. between a turd sammich and a giant douche.)

I was looking around and finally saw a a response to this memo. (http://www.drudgereport.com/penn.htm)

Question: Sean Penn isn't a huge fan of you guys, how... why is that? Apparently there is some memo?

Trey Parker: Yeah he did an open memo to... because we were so baffled by it because on the one hand the memo appears to be really pissed off but on the other hand there isn't anything he could have done to help us more. Like if he helped the movie be so much, like he released this letter and it gets picked up all over and now you look at the report there is a picture of Team America...

Matt Stone: Before we were on CNN crawl...

Trey Parker: Yeah there is like team America now is in that many more places and it is on the one hand he is totally mad and on the other hand he did us a gigantic favour...

Question: What is it about exactly?

Matt Stone: It is hard... he says in the letter if you read the letter it is on the brochure but I forgot to bring it. He says he is not mad at all about us using his likeness which is mainly satire and silliness. The way he says if you read the letter, read the letter online... and he is obviously fuckin' mad about that. He says he is mad, he said that was ok, I don't care, leave me out, I don't worry about myself, what I worry about is some comments that you have made of voting. What we said according to Rolling Stone we have said a thing about voting where we bait each other where we thought to encourage uninformed voters to go vote isn't going to help the country that much. If you don't really know what you want to do and not really sure then just don't vote. And this whole idea of you have to vote no matter what, just get out...

Trey Parker: We always said the campaign was about getting informed. I think that just vote or die I just think is ridiculous. That is just our personal opinion just talked about if you don't know anything and if you are just going to vote for George Bush because he is already in office or if you are going to vote for John Kerry because he is on the cover of Rolling Stone, don't vote. And there is no shame in that. The only shame is not really knowing anything, being uninformed and going voting. Because then you are just not helping us all out. It is not funny to rant on and that is what we did. And he took that and ran with it and this ridiculous, retarded logic of somehow by saying those things we meant that we wanted people to be disemboweled and mutilated overseas. If you read the logic of it, it makes no sense, it is insane.

Question: The other actors you lampoon in the film don't care as much...

Trey Parker: I think they are smart enough, it is obviously satire.

Question: Clooney is one of your...

Trey Parker: Exactly. Right. And he's... he will like it, most of them will think it is funny and Sean Penn just really is humourless.

BAMSS04
02-14-2006, 04:32 PM
Here is another one:

UGO: Any feedback from any of the actors besides Sean Penn?

MATT: Nobody except for Sean Penn. I know that most of the actors that we use in the Film Actors Guild are going to think it's funny, because ultimately, it is. If you guys have seen the movie, it's just absurd.

TREY: It's so stupid.

MATT: It's just fun, except for Sean Penn, who just showed himself to be so humorless that he couldn't even have fun with that.

TREY: It was funny because he seemed angry in the letter, and there was not one thing that he could have done to help us any more. One week before we come out, he sends a letter to the papers and gets us on the front page of anything.

MATT: It was on the Drudge Report for two full days.

TREY: Easily made us an extra 10 or 12 million dollars. At first, we were going to write him a letter back and get into it, but we were just like, "Hey, he really did us a gigantic favor!"

MATT: We should send him flowers, really.

UGO: So you haven't responded to it?

MATT: No, well, just in interviews. By the way, that letter wasn't to us. It was an open letter. We got it a day before it was "leaked," but he sent it to the LA Times.

TREY: It was funny because all he did was take something that Matt said in Rolling Stone and take it out of context and then claim, "This is what I'm mad about." When, in fact, we had heard from people who know him that he was pissed off as soon as he saw that he was in the movie.

MATT: Because he was in the teaser.

TREY: He was honestly like, "How dare someone make fun of me!" What was so funny is that in the movie, what we have him do is, "I went to Iraq! I went to Iraq!" when all of us are like, "We don't give a rat's ass if you went to Iraq, dude. I went to the Grand Canyon once, but that doesn't make me an expert." It's funny that we then get this letter and it's like, "P.S.: And I went to Iraq! I went to Iraq!"

MATT: It's almost exactly what he says in the movie.

UGO: People probably think it was a joke.

TREY: People thought we wrote it!

MATT: Our lawyer and people from Paramount called us and said, "Did you guys plant that letter? Because if you did, you just can't do that," and we were like "No, we didn't. He really wrote that."
