View Full Version : What Good Movies had Keanu Reeves?

Keanu Reeves has the bad habit of being in horrible movies and the slow-hollow-sounds like he's on drugs-voice hasn't helped him in most films. However, we must not look at the negative, but focus on the awesome. What Movies were good and had Keanu Reeves in it? I tell you what!
1.)Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
2.)Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey
3.)Speed
(They made a sequel to "Speed" which was "Speed 2:Cruise Control". Sandra Bullock reprised her role but Keanu didn't, this tells us he has brains in his head.)
I would also like to add that the "Matrix" Series are awesome too!
So look and remember these films as Keanu's golden films.
And ignore his other crap which is killing his acting career. (For example, "Hardball" and "Sweet November", why don't you do us all a favor Keanu and kill yourself after the third Matrix Movie.) /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Reeves is actually a really bad actor who always seams to fall into good movies. Did you see the Devil's Advocate? He sucked as hard as he could and that movie still rocked in spite of him. Pacino doesn't hurt.

I was at Best Buy the other day and I saw a box set of Speed 1 & 2. The only thing on the cover was Keanu. That doesn't make sense.

It sounds to me like Keanu Reeves was raised by a life guard...

he seems samey in 90% of his roles but I can think of actors who are same in 100% roles and are still loved for it. Anyway in spite of it I think point break was pretty good for a first effort into action.

THE RIVER'S EDGE, which I think was his first movie, rules. He and Crispin Glover are both great in it.
He was less good in DRACULA...

Parenthood. Not a Keanu movie, but a good movie with Keanu.

Dude I totally forgot he was in Dracula. Gary Oldman is the shizzonani. He totally saved that flick from being a total loss. Keanu was only the beginning of the problems with it.

Gotta go with:
The Matrix
Speed
Parenthood
Bill and Ted (both) (you just don't expect much there, and you're not disappointed)
Some Made-for-TV movie with Andy Griffith about alcholism; good stuff!

What Good movies were good despite Keanu Reeves?
Speed
Both Bill and Teds
The Replacements
Dangerous Liaisons (Was remade into Cruel Intentions)
I know I will get dogged out for this one at work, but I will have to mention The Matrix, even though I didn't really care too much for the movie.

Much Ado About Nothing.
...and if you think Keanu's characters seem too "Reevesy", listen for the line: "I thank you. I am not a man of many words but, I thank you." I swear I was half expecting him to say "dude" at the end of it!

His best performance was in Permanent Record. There are very few movies that rip out my heart, but this one did just that. Even a cold hearted bastard like me cries like a baby during this movie (a bit corny in spots, but then what do you expect from an 80's made-for-TV movie?).
It is something that should be avoided if you have ever experienced the suicide of someone you love... nothing comes closer to reality. An incredible movie that is hard to watch twice.

Out of all the films I've seen, the Devil's Advocate is Reeves' best film. He and Pacino did a wonderful job together.

Permanemt record! That's the movie I was talking about in a post, so many posts ago. Lou Reed has a cameo in it, right? When Keanu and his friend visit the studio, he's playing there.

I'll go for "Much ado about nothing too". I like the fact he chose, for one,to play the bad guy.

You didn't? The scene where Keanu Reeves character gave that eulogy in the church. that brought a tear to my eye.
Actually it didn't, but I want to come of as the nice, sensitive guy type.
Neo? Is that you lurking in this thread?

Dracula, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure/Bogus Journey, Constantine.
I am defiantely not a fan of Keanu Reeves. IMO one of the most overrated actors. He is so monotone and boring on screen.

Permament Record & River's Edge
I have Constantine (received as a present) and haven't watched it yet. But if I hear a Keanu-styled "Whoa", I will yank the whole DVD player out and shot it to pieces with my 9mm.

I said the same thing. I actually had all intentions on hating the movie, just cause I dislike KR that much.

I liked Constantine and I don't remember a single "Whoa", but if there was one there, it was swallowed by the mood of the film. Don't forget it is also Rachel Weitz and she is an amazing actress.

Have to disagree with you there. While arguably a hottie, Rachel Weisz does more to hurt any movie she's in than help it. I give you Enemy at the Gates, Envy and The Mummy Returns as examples. Constantine, while good, would have been better without her. The Constant Gardener wasn't too bad either.

I loved Constantine.
For a new perspective on Rachel Weisz see The Shape of Things. It is the femine of In the Company of Men from Neil LaBute.

For me, Point BReak was only okay. BUT, only okay becasue of KR. If they would have cast someone else it would have been a better movie.

The Matrix
Point Break
My Own Private Idaho

I saw Devil's Advocate the other day. That's one movie with Keanu Reeves where he was actually still his usual idiotic self but he was also a lwayer. The mindfuck alone that Keanu Reeves played a lawyer is enough to make it a great movie.

The Matrix series was awesome, but as an actor, he didn't do much dialogue wise. Most of his lines were very short and to the point.
