View Full Version : "F*ck You, I'm from Texas"
Looks like I'll probably be rolling through my home state May 4th through May 18th. In the next few days, I should have some sort of itinerary up on my blog if any of my fellow Texans are interested.
\m/:cool:
Now all I need to do is put the bike back together. :p

The sky in Texas is a shade of blue that cant be put into words and has a way of overwhelming you if you try and look at it all at once.

You got that right.
But then, too, some of the bluest skies are the ones I remember, not the ones I see.

Well hell fire and damnation if this isn't good news! If you are swinging through this way I would like to extend you the offer of a Whataburger of your choice purchased by the Zenster.
Absolutely! I'll be going through DFW on the *checking calendar* 18th of May. Tenatively. I still need to put in for the vacation time.
And put the engine back in the bike...

It helps to have an engine. As far as I know at least.
I am going to be back in Chicago the weekend of the 24th. Other than that I will be around and ready to eat some killer burgers with you.
Hells yeah! Looking forward to it!

BTW, Jen and I are heading up to Chi-town sometime later this year. I recently got back in touch with an old Navy buddy who lives in Waterford, WI now. We're gonna spend a few days in Chicago and then head up there for a day or two.
This is going to be the Year of the Road Trip...

It is that year for us also. We are road tripping back to Chicago for a Cubs game (hence the May trip). We are also doing one to Carolina to see my friend in Charlotte. I LOVE a good road trip.

Or maybe you really like cows. I mean, really like 'em...
Some trivia you all might not know: a steer is a bull that has been castrated and fattened up for sale to a processing plant. So why would anyone want to be a steer over being gay?
Being from Texas and having worked with cattle, that statement never made sense...

Yo Thinman!
I hope you won't take this the wrong way but I'm pretty sure you will, if you bother reading through it at all. All I'm trying to do is clarify some things that others have been trying to tell you. And it goes a little something like this:
Like a bad jedi-mind-trick, your act only works on weak-minded people. That means the only people who buy your kind of 'cool' are you and maybe a few of the dumbest high-school girls.
At some point, hopefully sooner than later, you will come to realize two things. First, it's not enough to just quote and reference whatever legendary icon's biopic you saw recently. It's one thing to be a fan of Dylan or Hunter S. Thompson or whatever but it's another to coopt their identity into to your own.
Second, there is something kind of punk-cool about having controversial opinions and holding onto them regardless of the criticism they attract. But there's a significant difference between having controversial ideals and just being an antagonistic dick.
People like Dylan and Thompson endured their share of criticism and they held up through it, which is cool. Eventually they earned respect and fans. But look at why they did it. Dylan didn't switch to electric in the middle of a show because he wanted to piss off his fans or because he wanted to prove that he didn't need fans. He didn't do it to be cool or to act eccentric. He did it because he wanted to make the kind of music he believed in and he wanted to share that music with others. What's your music Thinman? What's your higher purpose that justifies inviting antagonism? When you find that, you might have a chance at being something more than a poser.

Are you people seriously so pious that you forget what this website stems from? Ok, well, that explains things. Has anybody here even seen Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back? This was originally movie poop shoot and the purpose of it was to shit on bad movies, not commend them. Lord of the Rings was awesome... if you are on enough speed to kill an elephant to keep you awake. Those movies were so amazingly boring and you guys have acted like they are as awesome as the Star Wars original trilogy. You also act as if shows which are quite obviously soap operas (LOST, anyone?) are the most well thought out and well written things ever. Maybe I'm not as perfect as you, but i'm happy i'm not perfect in your eyes. Because i see more flaws in you people for holding what other people on the internet think of you. Sure, you may think i'm an asshole, but i don't care. You guys actually give a shit and that is fucking sad. I may not be a fucking genious to you people, but at least i'm not bent out of shape about it. I go online, i post some shit and then i go watch tv or eat something thinking nothing more of it. In conclusion, for people who think that everyone should be allowed to give their own opinion you sure enjoy bashing mine. :p

Where is this coming from? And in case you haven't noticed, this site has moved on from it's origins. It's grown. Like the chip on your shoulder. Or your sphincter.
Ok, well, that explains things.

Blasphemy. I think your dislike for LoTR has more to do with your attention span than anything else.
Those movies were so amazingly boring and you guys have acted like they are as awesome as the Star Wars original trilogy.
Because they are as awesome as the OT. They were amazing cinematic acheivements. Considering the source material and the other attempts at bringing the books to the screen, LoTR is amazing.
You also act as if shows which are quite obviously soap operas (LOST, anyone?) are the most well thought out and well written things ever.
Never watched Lost, so somebody else will have to take this one...
Maybe I'm not as perfect as you,
Nobody here has claimed perfection. Stop projecting your feelings of inadequacy.
but i'm happy i'm not perfect in your eyes.
Yeah, right. Then why do you keep coming back for validation if we're such holier-than-thou perfectionists who seem to delight in sticking it to poor pitiful you?
Because i see more flaws in you people for holding what other people on the internet think of you.
That sentence doesn't make much sense... Holding what others say like... how you try to hold your dick?
Sure, you may think i'm an asshole, but i don't care.
Obviously you do. Hence the ranting rambling effort to make yourself appear more pious than the rest of us.
You guys actually give a shit and that is fucking sad.
It's a hobby. Not much more.

You must have thought something about it, because... here you are!

I call bullshit right there. For example, you act like a supreme asshole because other people don't really care for Bob Dylan. And they started disagreeing in an amiable way but not you. You jump in everyone's shit with both feet and start calling anyone and everyone who disagreed with you names. And you keep acting like a jackass about it for DAYS.
You should really try practicing what you're preaching there, slappy.

Hey JK,
I checked out your blog 'cause I thought you had finished the paint job and was wondering about why you were changing. One thing I could comment on - they have wireless speedometers for bicycles that can be pretty small. They are line of sight so you would have to mount it on the front wheel but it would get rid of some of the wires on the bike and maybe help you stay away from tickets during your trip.
Thanks for reading the blog! You're one of about four ;)
A lot of bikers I've talked to really like the Sigma 800 for their bikes, with a rare earth magnet epoxyed on the front disc brake rotor. It's one of the few out there that read above 50-60mph and it's accurate to 1/100th of a mile. I'd really like to use a wireless, but a lot of the reviews I'd read weren't too positive- interference seemed to be the major issue, along with battery life (and cost!) I need to take the time and do some more research. Either way, it's something I definitely plan on doing.

Oh Christ man... I would have taken your word for it.
Although, the way the bike is scaled in the foreground against the background, it makes you look like a midget. Unless you are a midget... Are you a midget? :D
Are you a midget? :D
Only when viewed in the passenger side view mirror...

So in raising money for the bike, you still managed not to sell 'em all? ;)

The guns? Nope, I kept a few. The money I did raise I spent on a lot of booze and a fast woman.
Vacation was approved! May 4th-19th. This is the first time since I was in the Navy that I get to take more than a week off at one time.
And I somehow managed to plan it out so I'll be at me mom's on Mother's Day. I didn't realize that until just two days ago... (but I won't tell her that.) I just wish I could be at my grandmother's on the 20th... she'll be 88. She's cool... she was an Army nurse in WWII, Battle of the Ardennes, less than 2 miles from the front... Like that episode of Band of Brothers...
I can't wait for this trip...

Yeah! Looking forward to seeing you two. If you need a place to crash on your way our door is always open.
Actually our living room has a kiddie pool blown up in it right now, but we promise to pick that up before you come over. :D

I hate to start this thread back up, but I thought i'd ad another comment instead of starting a new thread.
Is anyone in the El Paso area? I'll be their all of March and almost all of April. I'm trying to meet up with some people, all my friends in that area have moved.
