...and sometimes they were in the streets before he could get back.

Anyone looking forward to I Am Legend?

Just seen the second trailer (http://www.worstpreviews.com/trailer.php?id=568&item=1). Looks fun. Those vamps look CGI which I'm not too keen about.

I love the book and although its inevitable they're going to change half the story to fulfill blockbuster status, I just hope they have the balls to keep the books brilliant ending.

The first trailer was certainly interesting, although I wondered how long they could tip-toe around the vampire premise. This second trailer certainly looks pretty slick, I'll be keeping this one on my radar.

I agree. Looks pretty well put together. I like most of the films Will Smith has been in (yes, even I Robot) as of late. He's really come a long way since Nightmare on My Street. I can look past the CGI vamps as long as the story holds together.
Has anyone read the book? I might try to get my hands on it, but I sometimes have a hard time reading older works. Sometimes I take myself out of the story a bit when it's set in the past.

I Am Looking Forward To This.

From what I've heard, it's based more on the Charleton Heston Omega Man screenplay rather than the book.

Didn't know it had vampires in it until now. Anyway, I've been looking forward to it since I saw the first teaser.

I don't think the era plays that bigger part in the novel. Its basically about a man, hiding in his house, with them outside trying to get in. Its a short and sweet read. Recommended.

Ditto. I saw the trailer during Transformers, and thought at first it was something silly like Independence Day 2. By the time it was over, it had my attention. Never read the book, but I'm interested to see what it's all about.

Not since I was 12, all alone at night in my Granny's house. Scared me to death then, but I remember next to nothing.

PS. I realise I stalled to hell on Red Dawn. I'm finding it hard to find a block of time to watch it.

And how far would you say the Omega Man differs from the book? Never seen it, but I'm sure running up to the release of this new version, some channel will broadcast it.

I can't remember. I read the book once looonnng ago and it's been at least ten years since I've watched the movie. It's on the list of movies I need to acquire once I get done with more pressing projects...

O' the joys of home ownership

Just read the Omega synopsis on a few DVD reviews. Sounds good, but with only a few similarities to the book. Only £4.95 on Amazon though, may be worth a look...

I'm having similar thoughts. I'm very tempted to run into town to buy the book and Omega Man before the shops close...

:Cough:

I'm going to withhold answering this question until exactly 24 hours from now, as I don't want to implicate myself in any way that might make others think that I have not seen this 'classic'. I'm sure I just killed the brain cells that held the memory of Omega Man over the weekend during a drinking binge...

...although strangely enough I still have the memories of all those people who told me I need to see it.

But, Anthony Zerbe has played some of the baddest bad guys of all time. He's got that crazy-ass look like Willem Defoe.

I just finished the book (I now work at a book store, and have nothing better to do) I think the movie will be interesting.

I've been looking forward to this flick since it was first announced, I just hope they do the book justice as it really is superb.

The film is well worth getting, although it really only has the theme about Neville being the last man alive in common with the book.

It is pretty fantastic though, and Heston is awesome in it.

"There is no phone ringing!"

There is a Vincent Price adaptation of I Am Legend as well, called The Last Man On Earth. Again, it is pretty solid and well worth checking out.

At the moment I'm thinking of waiting for this new version to hit DVD, and then try to purchase all three adaptations at once for a fun evening.

Just finished the book! Was a bit boring to start, but after the first twenty pages it started to give in to some action. Hopefully the movie will follow the plot, but definitely add extra fighting scenes and shit like that (there is way too much emotion directed to the reader in the book, it starts to bore you).

I think the ending of the book is very meaningful...but it’s the way you interpret it. ;)

All in all, 7/10 book, and am praying for a measly 7/10 movie.;)

(Don’t know if anything is misspelt here or not, I was in a rush. Sorry)

Man, they are jacking up the promo of this one. It looks great. Opening day here is Dec. 14th. That's the day you Irish are supposed to arrive. And, we could check it out at the IMAX in Dallas. That should put ya'll over the top on showing up. ;)

Well...it's official...I Am Legend has fallen victim to the dreaded PG-13 curse. Hope it perseveres though, I have been anticipating this film...

Damn it, Damn it, DAMN IT!

I guess that's another movie I'll be waiting for the 'unrated' DVD...

Son of a Bitch.

It's in-fucking-furiating how our society has become so kid-centric that adults can't even go see a decent damn movie.

I did notice, however, the studio is pimping the Hell out of the fact that AVPRequiem is rated 'R'... Maybe there is hope for movie goers somewhere.

No suprise there. Will Smith is practically synonomous with PG-13.

The picture quality reminds me of my youth. Ah, watching partially scrambled HBO psuedo porn as well as legit movies (mentioned in order of importance of course) when the cable filter started to go bad...those were the days...

Well, a twelve pack and some odd hours later, I've now arrived back from seeing I Am Legend. Don't want to ruin any aspect of this movie whatsoever for anyone, so I'll just say Bat Candy before the movie begins.

Yes and No... some things stay the same, and other things are different. Hard to go farther without spoiling the ending, though.

I liked the movie. It was entertaining....and most of all Will Smith gave a hell of a show. The man really pulled out the acting chops on this one.

I just got back from seeing it. I liked it, but I don't know if it is one I will be rushing back to see. One scene does stick out, great acting by Will to capture that tide of emotions.

That easter egg was pretty cool, from what I gather there were a few more but not as interesting or as noticable to me.

Spoiler (highlight to read or if you want the movie ruined):

I defintely thought that if he was bent on vengence or revenge he would have been a bit better prepared to take out the maximum amount of night walkers (what, he ran over 12 with his car?). His home and daily preperations would make it seem that he would be able to come up with a better plan than that. OK, so maybe he was just trying to end his life quickly but still, lead them to your house and take out a thousand or two.

I saw it today.
Terrible CGI, a lame ending, and some shoddy product placement don't change the fact that it was Will Smith's best film to date. It captured the spirit of the book for the most part, and the majority of its changes were forgivable.

Definitely worth a watch.

karmattack

Definitely worth a watch. Agreed. The movie was a lot more serious and meditative than I thought it was going to be. This is Will Smith's "Cast Away," but with more action and momentum.
