hello i will be boycoting the up and coming dragon ball z movie , y because of the lack of involvment of the man , the living ledgend, well most people say the greatest person alive akira toriyama he wanted to be involved but the jealous haters wanted him to not be involved because they wanted to ruin a great thing and if the man is not involved it is going to be just another crap hollywood movie that is forgotten about after you leave the cinema , toriyama lack of involvment will mean shitty actors, bull shit green screen the hole time and they will rape the dbz script and make it like they want it to be. the creator of dragonball and dragonball z needs to be heavly involved in the project because of the original martial arts and ki attacts i dont want another hulk or spiderman on my concience , thoes rich money hungry white americans just want to make money and take a shit on a great thing and dont care about the end result and only care if there pockets are fatter, they forced him to sign a contract kicking him out of the project i will be boycotting the movie and if you are a true dbz fan you should post your boycot and join me

Maybe you just need some "hole time".
Is a "ledgend" anything like a cliff? A long drop with a quick stop?

Now that might be entertainment worth watching. Brings a whole new meaning to the name of this site.

I plan to boycott this as well....in that I probably won't watch it.
Spacemeat's first comment is so apt and to the point I don't know if I can improve on it. But, I'm going to try.
Dragonball Z= Utter Shit.
It has got to be one of the shittiest cartoons to ever rape a TV screen. Planet exploding, over the top fighting by mongloid big headed jackasses. Once again it proves that we appeared to have nuked the wrong place in Japan and missed some real genetic garbage. Whoever created DragonballZ deserves to be violated with a chainsaw covered in broken glass and turpentine. Damn it to hell!

For Shame Sir! That's no excuse! I was 10 when the Smurfs came out. I still actively draw them on targets down range. Fuck the Smurfs to hell!
Let's put Dragon Ball Z as one of your "bones in the closet."
I recommend and intensive course of "Bugs Bunny" until you have wiped Dragon Ball Z from memory.

I am coming to the defense of Dragon Ball z. Not the movie, just the animated show. I don't know why there's so much hatred to this show. Perhaps some of you viewed boring episodes or events. There are a few of those but the show is awesome. Try watching Cell saga, Tournament saga, Majin Buu saga. The battles are sweet, the artwork is nice. There is a lot of unnecessary negativity here towards this show.

If I wanted to watch frozen images, I'd read a comic. It sucks. Plain and simple. I gave it a chance and was bored to tears. Nothing ever happened. The "battles" were just a lot of flashing lights, screaming and flying around while characters were locked in a single position. It's lazy animating, boring storytelling, and quite possibly one of the biggest wastes of time EV.ER. The end.

It just means that I do it the most, not that I'm the best at it. ;)
When a single fight, nay- a single punch takes three episodes to finish, there is little defense against the argument that the show just sucked.

The show is long with many episodes. Battles take time. They savor the battles. Which I appreciate. There's lot's of shit talking in between punches. It was very annoying watching only 1 episode then having to wait a whole day for another one but If you have it all there it's a lot cooler. But to each their own.

Best Anime's I've watched are Street Fighter II, Ninja Scroll, Fist of the North Star, Princess Mononoke, Berserk(all episodes...) I think that's it.
Ghost in the Shell, Samurai Champloo, Deathnote > everything mentioned in the previous post.

I watched a few episodes of Bio-booster Armour Guyver (I think that was the title) over Christmas.
Guyver 1, 2, 3, Zoanoids, Hyper Zoanoids, Chronos... I didn't have a clue what was going on.

Apart from the odd film here and there, I generally take the same stance on anime that Marge Simpson takes on music - it's none of my business.

It's not even that, it's just that it's such a huge other world of material, and it's so different in its language (for want of a better term) that I feel lost while watching most of it. It's like I missed the Anime Comprehension 101 class.
The few exceptions are probably painfully obvious to the anime connoisseur: Akira, Ghost In The Shell, Ninja Scroll (which would probably be my favourite), Cowboy Bebop (the movie - never saw the series) and the first Street Fighter II movie (although I'm not sure if that counts). With the exception of Bebop, I own them all. I'm almost envious of folks who have clicked with the material, because I'm sure there is some great stuff I'm missing as a result of my stupid, overly westernised idea of storytelling.
I used to be the same with comics until very recently, but Watchmen changed that. I'm still a total rookie in that regard too though, and I refuse to start reading any open-ended stuff like X-Men or Spider-Man and such. I only read the comics I know have already ended, and are less than a billion issues in length. I don't watch soap operas, so I ain't gonna start reading them! :o

Look, see...if there is going to be a one live action anime that I would watch, it is going to be Rurouni Kenshin. Nuff said...
Sadly I am too lazy to be searching and posting along here a cool picture to prove my point.

I'm the same, if I read batman comics it's the TPB stuff like Year one, long halloween and Dark victory (in fact they can be read as being part of the same continuity.) I'd love to read spiderman from his 1960's inception until his civil war outing but I don't think I'd have the patience.
Anime I'm the same, I love alot of the studio ghibli stuff and some of Satoshi-Kuns films along with all the stuff mentioned. But I Don't think I'd ever watch DBZ, Bleach or One Piece. I [i]acquired[i/] blood+ but I couldn't get into it after 2-3 episodes. I also bought ghost in the series's series that is a different universe from the films but I watched the first series only getting a rough idea of what was going on overall, and I bought the second but again I haven't really known what was happening 4 episodes in.
Current;y I'm watching Naruto which has been compared to dragonball, but thanks to the idiocy of Naruto and sometimes the supporting characters and humour and character developement that is injected into episodes, theres alot more going for it than fights that span 3 episodes. That said I was told to skip anything after episode 131 until the final episode 220 as it's supposedly all filler.

Unfortunately there is no class. Just like there is no class for Downs Syndrome.
(Warning: Rant ahoy!)
I live in Asia and am bombarded by the crap left right and center. Someone on the bus or train is watching it on their cell phone or PSP. You can't flip through TV without it being on every other channel. You can't walk 2 feet in Asia without bumping into something Anime. I've seen Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, etc versions of anime. All countries have their own flavor but, Japan is the Mecca of Anime. And unfortunately it is chock full of gaijin otaku (= ballistically gay for anime). I'm sure Rob101 can attest to this. All this just proves the point that most of the generally population of humanity is worthless. The overall premise of all anime is hiding from adulthood. Not, escaping reality; hiding from adulthood. 99% of all anime dialogue is childish crap. Nooo, it's not because the writers built it for kids. Ghost in the Shell was not written for a 5 year old. They write childish dialogue so people can escape from adulthood. I hate that. You can never, ever, ever go back. Ever. Adults do not wear underoos, they don't ask mommy and daddy to kiss their boo boo, and they don't gooble up childish drivel from big eyed squeek voice freaks that is an insult to hormones that make dicks hard and tits bigger. No. Emphatic Epic Failure No.
The only anime I can remotely fathom watching is the occassional Miyazaki film. It is truly imaginative art. But, even then, some of the dialogue raises bile in my mouth. I leave it in Japanese and turn off the subtitles so that my comprehension levels are lowered to a safe level.
Sadly, too many adults still watch it in spite of this babydoll dialogue; regardless of whether it was designed for adults or kids. I have awoke to the sound of "Avatar the Last Ass Bender" or "Cowboy Bepop".....and barely got dressed enough before scurrying out the door and away.....never to call again except to say: "I have an excuse, I was drunk; you need to seek help."
Finally, unrefutably....aaaand for all the reasons stated here by others plus more, DragonBall Z is the devil's shitburger smothered in rotten balls sauce. I have seen bits and pieces of show for the last 14 years and each time all I see is proof Jesus died in vain and we deserve Apocalypse just for its existence. Anyone over the age of 18 who holds any sort of enamour for DragonBall Z other than 'nostalgia' should be shot. Once puberty hit you should have said, "man I can't believe I use to love that show," and moved on.
FYI (disturbingly, typing "Downs Syndrome" while in google image search mode brings up "Related searches:retard" Ouch! Bad Google! Bad!)
