Is anyone else excited for Halo 3? I haven't read much on the boards about it (then again, I'm hardly ever on anymore), so I thought I'd make a thread. I'm obviously extremely excited for it, and even more so since I finally got an internet connection in my room (hello, wonderful world of Xbox Live). I can't say I'm most excited for the mutiplayer, but it looks like it'll be pretty damn fun. I honestly can't wait to sit down in front of the screen on Tuesday, crack open a Game Fuel, and take down some Covenant. Who's with me?

I kinda liked the first, but got bored halfway through so I didn't play the second, I dont have a next gen either so the short none drawn out to be an asshole answer would have been 'no'

I have yet to take the next generation plunge. I was going to get either a 360 or Wii when I got a new job, but I'm quickly turning into a freelancer, so I'm not sure when I'm going to buy one. Probably when I have time that isn't spent looking for the next job.

Oh yeah, I can't wait! I'm just waiting for 25th to roll around, then I'm jumping straight on xbox live. I'm gonna complete the campaign on Friday of that week though, so I can stay up all night not having to worry about waking up early the next day to go to class. :P

I won a 360 when it was first released, then sold it in a pinch. I'm going to pick up a new one in the next few weeks though, just so I can play the shit out of this:

(I couldn't find the 360 version, but the box art is the same)
It's a shame that that douche Cronaldo™ is on the cover though.

Funny little story, my friend bought a PS3 only to be sorely dissapointed with the quality of the sports games, since they're all designed as 360 games first and then ported to the PS3. So he goes to trade in his PS3 for a 360, and 3 Best Buy guys come out to try to convince him otherwise. They tried to make him look at demos of Lair and Warhawk and kept going on about how the 360 is inferior and will be obsolete after this coming Christmas. After they finally surrendered to my friend's wishes, I asked one of the employees what the hell that was all about. Besides a big PR push by Sony (a lot of Best Buys have a specialized PS3 demo section with a salesman/representative), apparently a lot of people are trading in their PS3's for 360's, so much so that stores are losing money over the matter (not sure if this is a national matter, but apparently enough to affect the store I was at). Then the employee admitted that all of the people who were instructed to badmouth the 360 in such situations, in fact, own 360's. In the words of Stan Lee, 'nuff said.

One extra thought, I've played a good deal of Metroid Prime 3 for Wii, and the hype is true, its the next best way to control first person shooters. Within half an hour of playing, I didn't even have to think about the controls. Its actually easy to hop off a ledge and peg 3 enemies before hitting the ground (comes in handy when you enter the juiced up hyper mode). And ripping away an enemies shield by whipping the controller back is amazingly satisfying. If Halo 3 could be controlled with Wii's controller, it would be gaming perfection.

Now that sounds Nifty.
Think of Playing Hitman and twisting the remote to break some guys neck , that would be great.

I just got an internet connection in my room this weekend, so I'll be playing a shitload of multiplayer after I play at least a little campaign. I can't believe I'm so excited for this game, especially after how much Halo 2 disappointed me.

Yeah, everybody's played Super Mario Bros. Anyway, Halo seems pretty good so far. I'm not really impressed with the campaign, but I LOVED what I played of online (12 people + plenty of vehicles + no lag = the cure for depression).

The campaign was awesome, especially if you watch the ending then after the credits the more! :O I jsut read earlier than if you beat it on legendary there another video too...I might have to do that later this weekend or something.
Yeah online is great, I've been playing Team Slayer mostly today. Most of the matches are the Shotty/Sniper ones. I get nearly all my kills from either melee or shotgun lol.
*btw, sorry I didn't accept the game invite yesterday Bizarro. I wanted to get through the campaign solo. :)

I'm beating it on campaign with a friend on Legendary (first time beating, plus there's only two of us, so it's taking a while). He's going to be busy with work today and tomorrow, so I'll be playing multiplayer for a little while. We should beat it this Saturday. Also, no problem about the game invite. I'll shoot you a party invite some time if I see you on when I'm playing.

Just finished the game, and I have to say I was really impresed. I think people will either love or hate the last level (I LOVED it), and I was a little upset by the ending, but overall it was extremely enjoyable. Now I'm going to try out some meta game, find some more skulls, and then kick some ass online.

It pains me that I have moved into a house sans-internet just when this gets released.
And I'm working to many hours to play it also.
But once I sort out all of these problems, I'm sticky bombing your ass Justin!

I'm looking forward to it. I wondered why you weren't online for so long. Also, my friend and I spent the afternoon finding not only all 13 skulls, but also all 7 terminals, therefore upping not only our gamerscores and armor options, but also our curiosity if Bungie hates us (seriously, the skulls and terminals are a bitch to go through and find, even with help). Now it looks like I'll be playing multiplayer and meta game from now on, since I've done about everything else in campaign.

Wow. I disagree quite a bit with you (which is just fine, because everyone has their own opinion). I really enjoyed the campaign (after the first two acts, which I think sucked). I beat it for the first time on Legendary with a friend from school, and we both enjoyed the campaign immensely after the rocky beginning. Granted the campaign's nowhere near the awesomeness of Gears of War, but it's a HUGE improvement over Halo 2.

 I thought that the GoW campaign was soooooooo boring. I couldn't wait for it to be over lol. It was like Halo 2 for me, the only thing that game has is the multiplayer.
But yeah, Halo 1 campaign=awesome, Halo 2 campaign=teh suck, Halo 3 campaign=Awesomesauce. :D
"Awesomesauce" <<< My Halo 3 mini review :p

See, i think the multiplayer aspect of HALO 3 is good, but the campaign is more weak sauce than awesomesauce. The first two stages suck, the very LAST two stages REALLY suck (that damn "inside of a vagina" stage really needs to go, and the warthog race was ridiculous), it's short as hell, there's no boss battles AT ALL (Guilty Spark is the only thing that comes close, and that was lame at best)...and what about the Arbiter's story? I mean, i know folks and fans were pissed when in 2 you're not Master Chief but some alien with Kieth David's voice, but they just relegated him to sidekick here, nothing about his quest, his religion, his hopes for redemption. LAME. Just a tiny tag at the end with his Shipmaster.
And as good as the multiplayer aspect of 3 is (the matchmaking is great for pairing up like-skilled opponents) it doesn't offer much variety, tactics or strategy. Maybe I like more realistic shooters than I though, but COD4 is AMAZING compaired to HALO 3's multi.
I stand by my review. Every one has their own opinion, which is why the ratings always say such (ONE gamer's opinion...not all). I'm glad you guys like it (though, not as glad as Bungie and Microsoft), but it's just not for me.

Just so you know, I'm not picking apart your post and being an asshole, I'm just stating what I think. I usually agree with you quite a bit on your reviews, but I just don't understand some parts of this one. So for the first bolded part, I almost totally agree. The only exceptions are that I actually really liked the warthog race (but I'm aware I'm probably the only one), and I didn't really want any boss battles in the game. For the second bolded part, I got the COD 4 beta and didn't really enjoy it. It just seems too fast and frantic to involve much strategy, unlike my favorite Xbox Live game (next to Halo 3 now) Rainbow Six Vegas. It doesn't seem very realistic to me, besides the fact that the guns in the game are also made in the real world. Also, not to be mean, but on bungie.net it says you only played 11 matchmade games and finished the campaign on normal. Do you also play on some other account, or is that enough for a review? Once again, I'm not trying to be an asshole, just pointing out some of my own opinions and questions.

Not being mean at all. Sometimes, in order to get a review done in a timely manner (which, as of late, due to RealLife(TM) I have not been able to do) I review it on a lower difficulty or without quite finishing it. However, this time around, I played the game on a friend's account much more than on my own, and managed to beat the game both alone (on my account) and co-op (on my friends), as well as getting a few more games in online with his tag as well.
Regardless, as far as my comments about HALO 3 vs COD4 re: realism, i sort of mean more of the things you can do, such as in HALO all you really have is Melee strikes, shooting and grenades. In COD4 you have those in addition to airstrikes, UAV radar, choppers, the kick ass perks and more....in a MODERN DAY setting (while not realistic per se, but more real than spacey stuff). I prefer the more tactical modern shooters (with "enhanced realism") such as RAINBOW SIX. They just seem to have more to them for my enjoyment. Again, just an opinion, and not a exact contradiction to what I said but (hopefully) more of clarification.

I've only defeated him in 2 player mode, on Insane mode.
In single player, do you have another AI player helping you out? In 2 player, I would move towards him and duck behind one of those 4 crates in the centre to distract him, while the second player takes him down from afar.
BizarroPunisher
10-15-2007, 07:24 PM
I beat him alone on Hardcore, but I had a friend help me on Insane. When I first beat him, I did it just by shooting him a lot. The second time around, I noticed a glitch. If you run up to him at a certain area on the train, he'll get stuck behind a small wall for a while. That's where you can most easily kill him. I know it's a vague description, but I haven't played it in forever and don't really remember where exactly it is. If nothing else, check out YouTube for some strategy videos.
