<font color="red"> </font color> What do u think is the best way WB should handle the Batman series?
(sequel,remake,restart,not at all?)

Judging from the live action Birds of Prey and since Justice Leaugue had all the animated bats you need, not at all.

it wouldn't hurt to get Tim Burton involved in there, at least his batman films were slightly dark and brooding.

The Tim Burton Batmans went downhill. The first one was great, but the next two declined in quality.

I had no idea he even worked on the third one which I very much so hate, lets NOT re-employ him.

He didnt work on the third one
I think it was because they didnt get Keaton back for it
Or was that the other way round?

i think they should remake it over again /forums/images/icons/blush.gif

Burton produced the third Batman, but didnt direct it. Not sure exactly how involved he was, ultimately.

What they need to do is get Akiva Goldman far away from the project. Let's get an actual detective script for the star of Detective Comics. Chris Nolan is a good start, but maybe Mamet or Shyamalan could write something nice and twisty. Then talk directors.

I'm actually looking forward to the Frightening because of the talent attached to it. It seems like WB realizes that they need to up the ante and deliver on this product.
Has anyone read the suppossed script for this?

Being a big Bat-fan, I do hope the franchise resumes someday if for no other reason than to make up for the last two being so over the top. No ridiculous suits with nipples... more believability. How about a Batmobile that doesn't look like a nuclear reactor? I think, all told, I like the idea of a Year One style movie most. Fantasy is fine, but I'd rather not see another caricature of Bat lore.

Oh, I'd kill for a dark, Year One type of story. That'd be a dream come true.

Thank u for responding!!
I think that something like the frightning is the best idea.
I really would rather that they resort to the Bond sequal method rather than giving up and restarting the series cause i don't want them to do everything over again. If they do end up doin an origin film then it should go with the current series and just explain everything that they havn't explained so far like a mix between Year One/Mask of the Phantasim. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

What do you guys think of a Dark Knight Returns movie? I think it would work if they got a talented enough writer attached to it. A bad script and not much could save it.

I don't think any script, regardless of who writes it, will ever do the graphic novel justice.

Colin Farrell could play Batman - preferrably in his Irish brogue...HEY! Tigerland and Phone Booth were good, Tigerland was GREAT!

Nothing could beat the graphic novel, but for source material, it would work wonderfully. Everybody likes a good monolouge.

i think that they should go back to making them look old skool with the "pow" "bang" and all that [censored] that pops up. that was the real shiznit

Although I hate the movies (sans the first), I do like the look of Gotham City in them. So massive, lit with odd colors, highways 20 stories in the air, gothic architechture where you least expect it, its all very surreal. Its also a good way of reminding the viewer that its not supposed to be real.

And while the very old Batman has kitsch charm up the ass, there's no way it would be taken seriously today. The original Batman series were for kids, and I think that sometimes we forget that. We all want a darker, grittier Batman, but that was never the original intention. Batman movies should still be tame enough for kids yet enjoyable for adults. Its hard to face the facts, but the movies we grew up with can't always continue to grow with us.

Otherwise, when we're 80 years old, we'll be bitching that Batman isn't more like the nice boys in our daytime soaps.

I think it's still too soon to do anything with Batman and have people take it seriously.1997 wasn't that long ago and time really hasn't been kind to Batman Forever either.
Actually...none of the films were that great come to think of it.
The original had a few nice moments and i think just seeing Batman on the big screen and not done campy was what made it seem like a better film than it was.
Returns was way too Sizzerhandish and i didn't like the mutant Penguin.
The animated series is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay closer to the spirit of Batman than any of the films.

I think batman would have been a better movie if there was hong kong action dirction and more insite into the fact he is called the dark night detective for a reason and use his brain gathering clues. instead of going look theres the bad guy he's right in front of me let's go cris o'donld. ok crapman i mean gorge cloney i mean batman. holy waste of money warner brothers /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

WB should not do a thing with Batman or Superman....have you see the Matrix trailer???? That's WB's new Superhero franchise!!! Give the old heroes a rest.

I'm going to go on record and say right now that the next Batman flick will be done right. I have complete faith in Nolan and Goyer.

I see an enjoyable sequal comingnot great, but good, maybe slightly lacklustre to peoples expectations and from all the overhype. But overall the matrix just seems like a big marketing gimmick, Just like Christmas. I think it might redeem itself with the Animatrix shorts coming out, but who can tell. ANyway I think superman is a something thats never been really right in any televised/cinematic adaptation batman has a better chance cause the animated series was quite spot on. maybe a few moter featurelength cartoons would be nice. Get mark hamill back in a role I catually care for him as (voice of joker)

Superman's remake shouldn't be touched since I still like Reeve as the Man of Steel. But if and when they make a new Batman, do you think they should touch on the Birds of Prey angle at all? I personally got into the show, not because of the hot looking women, but a good spin on the Batman/Catwoman angle.

Yeah I loved Birds of Prey too and think that it would be a great idea to have the new films as a continuation or something!

i am extreamly angry with how wb has treated my beloved BATMAN. they should let me write the next batman movie. i know my comic book sh***, so i could make it good, and stick to the comics as close as humanly possible. (i.e. why the hell would you make batgirl related to alfred??? or have nipples on the bat suit???)
WB needs to start all over. Get whoever is writing for Birds of Prey (or was writing), they were doing a great job. And i heard a rumor that Nicholas Cage was going to play either Batman or Superman in one of the next movies! Hell no! Nicholas Cage is 1.) way too old to play bruce wayne/Batman, 2.) He is too bland of an actor. He could never pull a role like that off. (michal Keaton is the only Batman). smarten up hollywood! i'm not going to buy into cheesy rip offs!

Sometimes I see a person douse themselves in gasoline, strike a match, then run down the street screaming. I wonder if I should help, just watch, or call somebody to tell them what I just saw. I feel like that right now.

You're kidding right? Farrell would suck as the Dark Knight, why not Ashton Kuchter.... I'm [censored] joking. Christ, what are people thinking, for a new Dark Knight movie they need to make him dark and moody. Kurt Russel as an aging, lonely and very bitter Batman. Who goes and becomes the Batman of old, one who did'nt take [censored] and actually killed people. Ok maybe the "kiddies" would'nt like it but.....[censored] THEM! Can someone PLEASE make a movie for adults.

I'm probably going to be verbally tarred and feathered for this one, but have any of you seen Bat Thumb? I think Steve Oedekerk (Kung Pow: Enter the Fist) would be a great new Batman. He's got all the lines to make the girls melt:

"Tell your mom there's a new Bat in the town...and I've got my name written all over her."

Timeless. Alright, I've said enough.

What ever happens, if Tim Burton doesn't direct it, I probably won't see it. My pick for Batman? Ralph Feinnes.
