Okay so i get this letter at my new address in Boston.
Its from "national action financial services"
It says I owe 340 dollars to Citzens Bank.

I am not a member of Citzens Bank. All my Credit Cards and Debit Cards are on my Texas address. My work only has my OLD Boston Address

the letter also says to send the money to them. That seems alittle odd. I emailed my brother-in-law/lawyer to handle this. Just alittle worried.
Also I had gotten my credit checked awhile ago and it doesnt list Citzens bank on there at all. So yeah.....

The fact that you ask if this is a scam worries me...

Tell them that you are willing to pay them all of it and then some but they need to wire you some money first.

Maybe you should very nicely go fuck yourself. I came here looking for help. I was alittle freaked out. I have been here along time, and I dont need some snarky posting by some newbie asswipe. Is this harsh? yes. Do I give a shit? no. How about you see yourself off this thread go elsewhere before it becomes less than "pretty" 'round here.

So, I am going to call the bank that says I owe them money and make sure I infact do not have an account there. If I do, that means someone has stolen my I.D. and then I will cry.

So after some more research. It looks like they might be trying to get me to pay some balance on my credit card. Which isnt a big deal, its just I still have an open line of credit with the card, and my line of credit it like3 times the amount owed.
WOuld they turn me in for owing 10% off the total balance?

Mark, sorry if my last post on this subject was somewhat flippant. I thought that this thread was more of a funny/haha tone.

Concerning your card, the difference between your total LOC and the amount owed is not the determining factor in whether they close your account. What does matter is the lateness of the payment and how much you are in arrears. If the balance is being outsourced to a collection agency, you might want to take care of that matter as soon as possible prior to the derrog debt being reported to the Credit Bureau (although, it may already be in the reporting pipeline).

Hope this post is more helpful.

Yea, Mark. It sure seemed like a scam to me too. I didn't take your post as genuine concern. Everyone posted something snarky no reason to just go after one person.

I recently found out that my identity, along with the majority of my former co-workers at an old job, was stolen. It's been VERY frustrating trying to start to clear it up. It's always a good idea to be paranoid, I have learned.

I believe what he's trying to convey is, with pics of that woman on nearly every thread, everyone should be too busy jerkin' the gherkin to get in any kind of tussle. I'm leaning that way. But, good luck with all that stuff, anyway, Mark.

I was angry before the Pammy Goodness.

Anyway, I feel better about everything now. But like Zens Said be Paranoid. I dont want me and my wifes credit ruined a year before we are about to trya nd get a new house and car. It would kinda ruin my life...so you know, no big deal.

I know we are all snarky, but sometimes, you can snark too much

It's really making it hard to peruse the threads while in work though, the girls here are giving me funny looks...

But, in this case, no one "snarked too much". You simply wildly overreacted. You still owe that guy an apology.

Again Mark, most people thought that you were joking around or something... If anyone thought it was a serious question, I doubt they would have reacted snarky, or whatever.

Bottom line, if you owe someone money they could have sent it to a collection agency, if they did then that might be what this is. Without the letter in front of any of us, it would be difficult to say. If you are sure that you don't owe anyone money, then yes this is a scam....

If you owe someone money, call them and see if they sent it to a collections agency.

I did over react. I am sorry. it took the Jason Brown to turn this frown upside down.

Turns out.....They have the wrong Mark Lewis. The SS# dont add up and they are working on it. I still have to go to the Bank and do some paperwork. But yeah, so happy

My credit score has fallen from a low 700 to the high 500's thanks to this situation. I am extremely upset about it and it takes a LOT of work to start to repair the damage. I got turned down at work for a new corporate card through AMEX because I had a fake Bank of America credit card that someone took out in my name and then racked up. Everytime you find one thing and get them to start fixing it another one pops up. It's like Wackamole.

I was in the market to buy a new condo in Dallas but that is out the window right now until I can get this straightened out. :-(

Its really sad how the credit industry has so much power. They have your name, your address and your future in their hands. You would think if they have 2 diffrent Mark Lewis's with 2 diffrent SS# that would take minutes? to fix? But I gotta go through the Banks Credit Deparment, and she has to talk to her boss. I still have to go to the bank with my lawyer (read: my visting Father in Law) fill out some forms, and THEN I still might have to call the debt collector who after some research turn out to be real assholes.
But the good news IS... The Account was opened when I wasnt even in this State, so that helps. It isnt under my SS#. It doesnt show up on my Credit Score or Credit Rating, Really I could walk away from this shit right now and it wouldnt effect me in anyway, I just dont want to keep getting letters or possible phone calls. My other Lawyer (read: My Brother in law) says if worst comes to worst we can sue them. Which is fun.

Speaking of suing my Aparment complex that flooded, Brother In law filed a suit months ago, hasnt touched it, they call him up saying they will settle. Should get the money sometime this year.

Now I have to look out because too many good things are happening to me right now, something bad is bound to happen.

My mom and this other woman have had their credit scores intertwined over the years. Their social security numbers are the same except for the last two digits which are inverse. Something like 12 and hers is 21. So, when careless people enter their numbers in and flip those numbers - fun ensues. They were born on the same day and same hospital. Funny thing is she lived only a few blocks from us too.

I think this other woman is your real mom. It all adds up.
