Sub-pop is totally my new favorite label for the next five minutes. I picked up the Shins new album on vinyl, and upon opening a little piece of paper with a code on it said I was invited to go to the Sub-pop website and download the entire album for free!

Now I already have a turntable with a USB port, but I'm probably in the 5% of music listeners who have one. Not to mention though, it saves a lot of time and effort putting it on my computer.

So, yeah. Yay Sub-pop.

Damn, i was going to ask for the code, so i could listen to the album, what with you having the ability to get the vinyl into the 'puter. You know you want to hear the warm sound of the needle on vinyl in you Ipod.

You'd be surprised at how well the computer makes the transfer. And the noise reduction software can reduce what little hisses and pops you might hear. That and you can edit the track down, so you don't get that initial pop when the needle finds the groove.

I like the initial pop. It's like waiting to see if it's working, then you're all like, Ooo yes, it's working. Yay!:)

We had a record player growing up and my parents had a few records. I remember listening to Lily Tomlin, George Carlin, an Irish songs lp mix, Kool and the Gang and even that Hey Mickey Your So Fine song.
Now the only lp's I have are 2 prince picture disc that have never been played. They are hanging on my wall, still in their plastic case.

And another one I can't seem to find a picture of.

Well, I like it when I'm listening to the vinyl, but not when I'm listening to the MP3 that I just transferred.

I actually bought one of those things for my Dad for christmas, so he could transfer all his old 45s to his Ipod shuffle (don't ask - he thinks he's so hip). Then spent an infuriating Christmas day trying to teach him how to use it.

I suspect he has an Ipod full of single sides of records.

Yeah, my dad has been talking about running cables from the turntable to the computer for years just to prove he can do it, but he never does it.

It's not like he has want or need of an iPod anyways.
