I bought a PSP after christmas and compared to other consoles.. I think that PSP is pretty wack... The games on it are some good, some bad but I have come to a solution, that the only good thing in PSP is that you can carry it with you. Almost everywhere. Plz, tell me what you think! :(

The PSP games are more complex than the DS games. I find that the DS games are really easy to jump into and out of quickly. The PSP games are more like games you sit down and play for hours. It depends on what you want your system to do. Plus, the PSP can play music and videos.

I think the DS is the better hand held system just because it is more geared towards quick gaming, but can certainly be played for hours.

Yeah, I think you can carry it almost everywhere. As long as you have hands, or talented toes, or a backpack, purse, or pocket.

As for it being the only good thing, well I'm too poor to own one so I don't know. I guess I'll just have to envy the fact that people can carry them everywhere.

I have both a DS and a PSP, although I didn't pay for the latter. So far I've found the PSP has a severe lack of quality games, with only the two GTAs and Syphon Filter being mention-worthy.
As RB said though, you can play videos on it, which is a huge bonus. While I was travlling home on the train for Christmas this year (or rather last year...you know what I mean) I watched Rocky Balboa and Thank You For Smoking on my PSP, which made the journey go a lot faster.

All in all though, the DS is superior. It has dozens of games that are top-notch, it's smaller, and cheaper.
I'm a total Nintendo fanboy though, so I would have said that even if it were untrue.
Shameless, I know. :o

I have to disagree with Mr. Phit. I've played the DS and it didn't do much for me. Once you get a decent memory card for your PSP it can serve as a sub for a video Ipod as well as a portable gaming platform. Aside from GTA I have played the two Dynasty Warriors games on it for a very long time. They are easy games to play but have a lot more depth than you'd think.

The online capability is picking up too. I had so much fun playin GTA with my friends. There's a Dungeons and Dragons turn based gaming coming out in march that I'm excited for too.

Edit -- I also forgot to mention that I can use it to check my email or read the news through wireless networks. Not a laptop by any means but still a pretty nice feature.

I don't really have anything to add to this discussion, I don’t own either, although I have played Mario Cart and Pixar's Cars, both on the DS, and found them both fun.

Yes, even though the Pixar game was/is another shoddy movie-to-game adaptation, some of the sub games were simple, but incredibly addictive.

So for me, I'd have to say go for a DS!

Hey, don't get me wrong, I love my PSP (so much so that I always sing those words to the tune of Sting's bit from Money For Nothing...) and when you put it against video ipods and the like it completely runs away with it, mostly due to the impressive screen size.
I just think for a pure gaming experience the DS wins, because although there are some top quality titles for the PSP, most of them are PS2 knock-offs such as Need For Speed, Madden, Metal Gear Solid et al.
Also, I thought I explained myself clearly with the Nintendo fanboy remark. I'm genetically predisposed to siding with them. :)

I've never been much for handheld consoles. I bought both a GBC and a GBA way-back-when, and ended buying, like, one game for each. Learning from my mistakes, I obviously don't own either. (Though I'm not shy about snagging them at buddies' places and checking shit out there.) Though I'm usually a supporter of Sony and the Playstation shizznack... I'm never able to actually get into any of the games.

DS, however, amuses the fuck out of me. It's the stylus, I swear.

So, in my uneducated opinion, the PSP doesn't thrill me.

i prefer the ds.

psp is just a shrunken playstation. DS is all in all its own system. and the post mentioned before is completely on point..about it being seemingly geared for quickplay, which is excellent. Warning: ALOT OF DS GAMES ARE ADDICTIVE

Yeah because the DS has two screens OMFG REVOLUTIONARY

And I hope you mean a shrunken PS2. It's got more power than Playstation 1. Lots.

Actually I don't care for either of them :/

Fuck the new portables. I love my Game Boy Advance.

yeah ps2.
2 screens are better than 1 :p
but no, its just more fun for a handheld IMHO. if i wanted to play playstation2 then id just play my ps2. I guess the psp is great if you are a travelling sony fanboy and need rehashes of old games (with the exception of a few)

But I thought that the Nintendo fanboys stuck to their DS's and played rehashes of Super Mario World or Super Mario Kart or Donkey Kong or Ice Climber or Duck Hunt :o

Without a doubt, the greatest console I ever owned, and also the most played.

That and Game Boy Color. Oh boy, back in '99, I was a hXc handheld gamer and Game Boy Color was THE system to have.

I remember Super Mario Bros. DX. That game fucking rocked.

Tetris DX too :D

Up until I got New Super Mario Bros. for my DS, all I played on it was a little Super Mario World and a lot of the original Super Mario Bros. In all honesty, I never really played my GBA that much, mainly because of the screen (no backlight = impossible to see 99% of the time). Now it's all Super Mario Bros., and I'm not upset in the least.:D

I really liked this one. Unfortunately, it finally crapped out on me in the late 90s.

I still have this one, and it still works. I loved me some Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Star Wars Episode 1: Racer, and Cruisin' World.

I liked a lot of the games for the X-Box, but my console was a big piece of shit. It finally crapped out on me 2 days after Christmas, but it had a bad history of not recognizing most of the games we bought or rented.

I have the first 2 you pictured and they both still work. Though the NES takes more effort than just pushing a button to get it to work, but they've always been like that.

If we're onto our old consoles now...

I had a Mega Drive, or Genisis.

Anyone remember Chuck Rock? Toe Jam and Earl? Streets of Rage? Desert Strike?

And the last console I purchased was this:

All the Super Stars Wars, Star Fox, Flashback and of course, Super Mario. Classics.

I grew up on the Sega Genesis. Of course I remember those games. I was even one of the 100,000 people subscribed to the Sega Channel before it went ka-put. Even after it got discontinued, I bought more games for it at used game stores. I have 64-ish games for it now.

I play the snes emulator on my xbox, its great because the button layout is the same.

snes was probably the last nintendo console I really liked. I got a cube in november and its mostly failed tograb my attention with the exception of the resident evil games (zero and the remake) and zeldas, I've tried other ninetendo licensed stuff (mario kart, sunshine) and there is just no love present. Plus it doesn't help that games I want to try like Animal Crossing guard cost more than brand new ps2 game. For something I want to 'try' thats too expensive.

I was another one of the Sega Channel subscribers. I still play my Genesis every once and a while, but I usually just end up playing X-Men 2: Clone Wars for a couple hours. Oh, and for the record, Sega Channel was the shit!:D

Well if we're talking old school...
http://www.makingit.com/intellivision/PR/PR_pix/intellivision.jpg

Two years ago I took this sucker out of the attic, opened the case, air blasted the circuit boards, and gently cleaned off rust and corrosion. She runs like brand new... in other words she runs like an atari that uses telephone keypads for controllers.

Intellivision rawks!!!!

Dude, You didn't like the N64? I was a Nintendo fanboy until the Gamecube. Now I am a fanboy without a home, but I am diversifying, and it's not so bad.

Seriously though, the Nintendo 64 was the shit. Not as much so as the SNES, but it was a good system.

And it had what I believe to be the greatest controller ever.

All this past tense talk makes it sound like it no longer exists.
It's still the newest system I have. I play it often. Super Smash Brothers, Zelda, Mario Kart, Pokemon Snap... it's all good.:)
