So this thread could fall flat on its face, but hey, it’s a little different.
What if we were here, at the Quick Stop, but, say 5 years from now? What trivial news would we be discussing about our future favourite movies, television, etc?
I for one thought Evil Dead 4 was well worth waiting 13 years for. Easily the best in the series. The scene where Ash lops off his other hand! Classic Raimi horror. Sublime stuff.
Let’s hope Mr Lucas delivers the same panache with his plans to film one last Episode (VI). Great news about Mark Hamill returning, too.
And the opening episode of Lost, Season 8 – there’s two Islands! I never saw that one coming!
(you see what I’m doing here…)

I still can't believe they renamed New York City - Hero City, but what do you expect from President Guiliani?
(not to be a complete Lost geek, but they established in this season that there are two islands)

I had no idea! The third season has only just started over here. Let me amend:

Whoops...sorry. Forgot you people were a season behind. Well, you find out about the second island 2 or 3 episodes into Season 3.

Rick Perry is defeated in the Texas governors race by both Bush twins. Their slogan? Two brains equal one.

The Governor of California, Steve Perry, is disappointed that the Massachussets Governor Matthew Perry and himself are the only two remaining members of the famous trio of Governors nicknamed the "Three Perritos".

I'm so sick of seeing the Tastydactyls EVERYWHERE!! You won your twelve Grammys, replaced Thriller as the best selling album of all time. Enough already! ;)

I thought Razorback and Phit's wedding was beautiful
And the way they cried as they read out their vows to eachother... I'm sorry, I shouldn't get so emotional, but WOW

Sylvester Stallone announced the making of Rocky XVIII, and in this one he's taking on Ozzy Osborne. This should be great, but I hope they have subtitles....cause I can't understand a damn word either of them say.

You know, I always thought it was awkward that when people write about the future, they seem to think these huge changes are going to take place, and usually in a small amount of time. I'm sure in 1968 it felt like everything was possible.....the land of tomorrow was right around the corner. Now, I have to watch 2001: A Space Odyssey and pretend it's still the future...like 2001 hasn't already come and gone. As Lewis Black would say, "No flying cars? No flying cars." Did we really think mass transit through outerspace would only take 30 years to accomplish? And then there's Back to the Future Part II. They predicted auto-adjusting clothing, hovering skateboards, flying cars, Jaws 19, the Cubbies winning the series. All that by 2015? If the SonyCorp Government didn't put nanoresistors in our plasmaflux teleporters, I'd go back to '89 and fry Robert Zemeckis with my Proton Isolator®.
