We've probably done this before, but anyone want to share their favourite song lyrics? I was reading this article (http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/story/0,23663,20787747-10388,00.html) and wondered what everyone thought. Here's the article for those who can't be buggered clicking on the link:

THEY were the words used to farewell Australian rock icon Michael Hutchence at his funeral.
Timeless INXS classic Never Tear Us Apart has taken top spot as Australia's all-time favourite lyric.

The hit, released in 1988, was voted Nation's Favourite Lyric by viewers of pay TV music channel VH1.

Edging out Jeff Buckley's sorrowful ballad Last Goodbye by a mere ten votes, Never Tear Us Apart had proved a sentimental favourite, said Nation's Favourite Lyric host Billy Thorpe.

"That song is particularly dear to most Australians so it's no surprise it has come out on top," Thorpe said.

"It was a wonderful song before Michael's death but those lyrics became particularly sad and poignant after his death since it was the song they played at his funeral.

"It added a whole new meaning to the song after Michael's death and I think Australians remember him when they hear that song."

You're Beautiful by James Blunt rated third amongst viewers, thousands of votes ahead of Wonderwall by Oasis in fourth, and Coldplay's Yellow in fifth.

Kasey Chambers and AC/DC continued the Australian showing in the top ten, with 35 Aussies taking spots in the top 100.

Bob Dylan's The Times They Are A-Changin' was the oldest entry, from 1964, and Pete Murray's recent hit Opportunity was the most recent.

Midnight Oil, U2 and silverchair were the most nominated bands, each getting three nods.

I love Never Tear Us Apart, so I'm happy with the win.

If I don't meet you no more in this world then
I'll meet you on the next one
And don't be late

-Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Child: Slight Return

Pretty much the whole song just kicks ass...

Well, I stand up next to a mountain
And I chop it down with the edge of my hand

Yeah

Well, I stand up next to a mountain
Chop it down with the edge of my hand
Well, I pick up all the pieces and make an island
Might even raise a little sand

Yeah

'Cause I'm a voodoo child
Lord knows I'm a voodoo child baby

I want to say one last thing...

I didn't mean to take up all your sweet time
I'll give it right back to ya
One of these days

Hahaha

I said I didn't mean to take up all your sweet time
I'll give it right back one of these days

Oh yeah

If I don't meet you no more in this world then uh
I'll meet ya on the next one
And don't be late
Don't be late

'Cause I'm a voodoo child voodoo child
Lord knows I'm a voodoo child

Hey hey hey

I'm a Voodoo Child baby

I don't take no more questions

Questions no

The whole song just screams black magic macho testosterone.

James Blunt?... beating Wonderwall?... do these people have no taste? (rhetorical)

And while I love Yellow as a song, the lyrics suck
What the fuck does "and you were all yellow" mean anyway?
Jaundice?

I think I would have to go with the following....

Theres no time for us
Theres no place for us
What is this thing that builds our dreams yet slips away
From us

Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever....?

Theres no chance for us
Its all decided for us
This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us

Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever?

Who dares to love forever?
When love must die

But touch my tears with your lips
Touch my world with your fingertips
And we can have forever
And we can love forever
Forever is our today
Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever?
Forever is our today

Who waits forever anyway?

....I am not going to list who this is by....if you don't already know, you are a tard.

Touch my world

I always thought he was saying "Touch my Whoa whoaaaaa, with your fingertips" Meaning his, uh, you know, his unit. :)

Anyway, I like this lyric: "Attack the day like birds of prey or scavengers under cover."

If you like Ludacris, try and find his CD Pre-Release Therapy (only available for download, try bear share) and find a song called He Man. The lyrics to that song kick ass.

For me it would have to be David Gray, from Let The Truth Sting:

"I'm thinking bout the bullet and the TV screen, the dollar, and the clenched fist,
and if we're searching for peace how come we still believe in hatred as the catalyst."

Not that these lyrics really pertain to my life at the moment, I find them to be powerful in describing his pain. Anyone who has ever loved and lost can relate The Cure:

"If only i had thought of the right words i could
Have hold on to your heart if only i'd thought of
The right words i wouldn't be breaking apart all
My pictures of you"

Though I do appreciate the lyrics to Pictures of You, I think my favorite lyrics are that of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

"So crucify the ego before it's far too late to leave behind this place, so negative, blind, and cynical.
And you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable.
Just let the light touch you and let the words spill through, just let them pass right through, bringin' out our hope and reason...

Before we pine away "
