I blogged about this here on my myspace blog (http://blog.myspace.com/brittschramm) (ahem) but since no one has said a peep about this on the board, I wanted to keep you all in the loop. For those who didn't read my blog or heard this news, all of Tower Records brick-and-mortar stores (US and possible global) will be no more. Tower was sold at auction after filing bankruptcy to pay debts and the new owners are starting to liquidate the stores' inventory which began this past Saturday. The good deals may not come around until later in the month or next month just in case you want to vulture.

There is a Tower Records about 2 miles from my office. I went in there a few times when I was bored. I will have to wait to vulture and then attack!
They just closed up the Virgin Megastore by my office also.

I read about this earlier in the week, I think a lot of small record labels are concerned that Tower could ship back warehouse stock, pay restocking fees and re-coup some of the losses (or something along those lines). The downside being that all these small record labels will have way to much money tied up in stock and could possibly crumble also.

This kinda sucks. I mean, I had to go all the way to Nashville for the closest Tower, but they have some pretty decent prices and deals for a big chain. I got Rob Zombie's newest CD from their website two days early (and autographed by him) for only $12.99 after shipping. I'm going to have to keep tabs on the Nashville location for a good going out of business sale.

I would have thunk that would have been closed centuries ago. I mean with the complete lack of virgins in the Dallas-Ft Worth area.

Isn't "closed up" supposed to be one of the prerequisites for being a virgin?

My jokiness falls more along Britt's lines than along Ratm's.

As I've gone through today's posts, it is readily apparant that great minds think alike.

And then there are those days when great minds stand alone.

Just an FYI - my brother-in-law told me that this weekend started the 20% off of CDs/DVDs. I'm still gonna hold off for a week or more just to see how low Tower will go.

I tried that when Media Play shut it's doors. I wound up with nothing. They announced the closeout sale and a week later... poof. Gone. That made no sense to me- closing down. The store was always packed with long lines at the checkout everytime I was in there, which was about once a week. Piss poor management I guess. I don't know- really don't care anymore.

It was 30% off at the Towers here. My friend dropped about $100. I just splurged at deepdiscountdvd. Dropped $50 and got 12 DVDs.

They had the Premium XBox 360 for $299. Really tempting, but I may wait until next week to see if it drops any further.

Well, it's nothing I need that badly. Besides, I've been spending my money on cycling stuff as of late and it turns out that's a fairly expensive habit.

The basket with the flowers and the harpo horn shouldn't be breaking the bank there. Or is it the banana seat that's the expensive part?

It's the tassels for the handlebars and the old baseball cards for the spokes that the money starts draining.
