I was in the same boat as being forced to watch it because of the person I was dating. I don't have to watch it anymore. I'm surprised that the dude is making the gal watch the show, in your senario. Maybe he's only pretending to like it because he thinks you like it. I have a hard time believing that a guy actually volountarily watches that show.

My theory as to why this show is so popular with you people has already been stated. (http://quickstopentertainment.com/forums/showpost.php?p=130507&postcount=81)
And I had maintained that the saving grace for this show was the soundtrack, but now that they're using the Fray in their promos, Grey's Anatomy can be completely written off.

I only watched one show when a group of friends were watching TV. I didn't choose the show... infact I was in the mood for some movies.

Anyway, I tried watching it and getting a feel for it. But, frankly, what I saw bored me. Maybe it's a show you gotta watch from begining to last though..?

For those who do watch, did you see the premiere? I liked it. They seem to be back on track. They were starting to fall of at the end of last season, but now it seems good again.

I liked the flashbacks. I really liked Christina and the Miranda in this. They both needed some serious humbling.

I like what I've seen of "Grey's Anatomy". My mother is addicted to it, so she's constantly talking about. I guess I'll borrow her DVDs of it when I have nothing else better to watch.

I did hate it when Izzy's fiance died after his heart transplant though. That was rather heartbreaking.

Uh, spoilers in the following post if anyone cares...

My GF got me hooked to the show (that and they followed up the superbowl with 3 females in a shower). The flashbacks were awesome in the season opener. I did catch up with the first 2 seasons this summer (thanks DVR), this is the only series TV that I actually follow (and am slightly embarassed about it, but I digress). They do have a good soundtrack, and I would say around 5 decent characters.

Seeing Addison in the CGBG's shirt during the breakup was awesome, the writers really brought out a new dimension of her character and their relationship in that scene, also kinda pointed more to why Derek is attracted to Meredith. Thank goodness Izzie is back, I thought the end of last season was a way to easily write her off the show (her movie career seemed to be starting) .

I didn't quite follow what was happening with 'The Nazi' I assumed I missed something cause she was acting weird the whole episode...

I do see that there is pressure to choose a new chief, interesting to see how that is going to shake out as I think that Dr. Webber knows about Meredith/Derek but not Preston/Christina, I might be missing something I assume next week Webber will find out (oh and that Preston presumibly cannot operate ever again).

The character that bugs me is Alex, I can't tell if it is bad acting, bad writing or they are trying to show character flaws that I don't understand. I think they could do more with him, but his layers seem to be Dick/NiceGuy/Slimeball - in that order, it was funny to see that he was leaving the first party flashback with that one nurse in his arm.

Comments FanGirl?

I'm trying with every inch of my body to avoid this show at all costs, but the stupid promos over the summer is making me want to watch it. It is currently recorded into my DVR and all I have to do is press play. Why can't I built up the courage to give the show one more go around..........?

Oh, I just watched half an episode of Scrubs, it looks fun, I just can't get hooked into another series (G4 is playing repeats of Arrested Development I missed it the first time, I have like 12 episodes or so to watch on my DVR purely from people raving about it here). I think the difference is that scrubs seems to be more slapsticky, sophmoric wit (not in a bad way) and comedic than Grey's Anatomy. GA is pretty dry humor, ironic and a little dark, so comparisons are pretty hard for me to follow. All it took was one episode for me to be hooked Smurfy, why did you have the temptation to record it? I think you have already made your decision ;)

The summer re-runs of Grey's didn't show all the episodes so I suggest picking up the DVD set.

The Addison flashback was great. The thing that is so great about the show is watching the characters look at Addison from the beggining of Season 2 to this season''s premiere. You want her to go back to NYC and leave Mer/Der alone. Now, you want her to go back to NYC because she doesn't deserve to be this tormented and McSteamy truly loves her and that's what she deserves.

Dr. Webber does know about Preston and Christina. He told him right after they got back together about 4 eps into season 2.I loved Cristina's breakdown when she saw Burke at the end of the ep. Although, her best moment is when she starts crying and can't stop after her surgery.

Alex has daddy issues. His dad beat his mom. He joined wrestling anf got beefed up and then when his dad tried to hit his mom again, he fought for her. His dad left and he never saw him again. I think a lot of his behavior stemms from this additude of not wanted to be liked because he feels he doesn't deserve it. He is a good guy and he fell for Izzy, but can't tell her that. He's a good character with a good arc. However, his best scene is when George kicks the crap out of him.

Sheriff
09-25-2006, 05:36 PM
Alright, I am going to have to catch up ASAP, I think I missed that episode.

I thought one of the best scenes with Alex was when he hugged George after finding out what he did for Joe, that is about the best scene I saw him in. But still, the good guy thing I just don't buy, it wouldn't allow him to be such a slime in other scenes, although I can't think of any right now.

Now that you mention it, I did notice the difference in my attitude toward Addison, I think it was the scene where she was thoughtfully folding and placing Grey's belongings in a plastic bag.

Crap, now I am waiting for the next episode, ugh, I hate TV.

In the meantime, you should checkout the writer's blog at www.greyswriters.com. They give a little insight intot he episodes. It's actually cool little info. One thing I think is kind of neat is that all the episode titles are song lyrics/titles.

Sondra, the creator, is very cool. One of the things I read somewhere is when the writers write the scripts and hit the medical lingo, they just write "medical" and a medical advisor puts the right words in. So a whole page might be each character just saying medical. I think they should change it to "malcovich" just to be funny.

I did pickup on the song lyric/titles thing, I look at the episode name on the digital cable and after a while it clicked. It's kinda cool to be in the target audience (I am pre-emptive giving a 'shut-up' to anyone who was about to call me a girl) so that all the songs I recognise.

The first image I got when you said they type 'Medical' for script writing is pages of a repeated line a la 'The Shining' where it is all repeated with different paragraphs, indentations, quotes and such.

Yeah, me-thinks that Boulder is rubbing off on me.

Spoilers as usual...

They definetly picked up the pace of the mad-drama, I was almost shocked at how much ground they covered. Half of what made the show move last season was wrapped up in that episode. So now I'm thinking that Izzy's character is safe, but they might do away with Addison, or start to include naked dude as a regular. Finally we got to see why Bailey was acting so off balance.

Addison seems like she just had enough of all that crap. She let Shepard find her cheating, and was really level headed about being caught red-handed, payback for finding Grey's underwear? So she had Joe call a cab for her at 10, not because she thought it would be a good time to stop drinking, but because she had to meet someone. Booty call, NY to Seattle, probably around 20 hours notice, man that guy is whipped.

Grey on drugs was funny, that made the episode move well. They are still using up so much episode ammo so quickly. I can't believe the pace they are keeping up, the dating game could have went on for half a season easily. One thing I am sick of is how long they are dragging out Yang's hangup with Preston, ugh, move that thing already. Addison and Bailey keep getting more interesting. They need to make Izzy's plight a little more central, it is just not as engaging as it could be, maybe it's just me. Nice that they did that little tangent with his dad though.

You got to admit for as hard as he was fighting, Alex being sent for coffee was pretty funny.

Meredith on drugs was great. I think my favorite was her looking at Bailey and saying "You're pretty." It's nice seeing Bailey back to her old self.

I really wanted Derek to say to Addison that Mark is doing to her what she did to him. Why isn't anyone saying that to her as she mopes around whining about it.

I thought Izzy needed to hear the message to get some closure. It'll be interesting to see what she does with all that money.

I think they are keeping this breakneck pace to get through the old issues so they can move on to new issues. I also think Addision getting pregnant wouldn be waaaay more interesting than Meredith being pregnant. I have a feeling that's where things might be going. Addison choses Mark, but she's pregnant by Derek. That's my current prediction.

Yeah, I am going to just say now that any post I have in this thread will have spoilers.

JJ - that is exactly what I mean, they are whipping through issue after issue, not that I am complaining. Addison being a total wuss and then recovering the same day, Mark not having the adequate emotional tools to deal with the burn victim followed up by Bailey saving the day after he snubs her and she was stewing, Izzy meets pops and gets a huge amount of money, George breaking it off with what-her-name and then she immediatly sleeps the Mark.

Fanny - Good call on the pregnancy thing but it might be to close to Grey's one for now. I did like how everyone reacted to Grey's false pregnancy, the looks were great, kinda like 'its all fun and games till the dirty slut intern gets pregnant', everyone was guilty or something.

Mark looks to me like a more dangerous (or hairier) version of Leonardo DiCaprio. I would also like to add that the only good part that Mark was in this episode was his interaction with Grey when she called him McSteamy.

Pffft, that's because the only exciting things for a cat was the yarn ball/sweater knitting last season and the fishing expedition on the last episode (and they didn't even catch anything).

Last episode was OK, I thought for sure that when Addison was squatting in the ladies stall she had morning sickness or something. I would be yet another person to bow down to Fanny's intellect. Spoilers, as if you haven't been warned.

Solid episode this week. I like how they are developing Bailey and Webber's stories. I like how they have Burke's personality and maturity centering his character. Exposing more of Shepard's weak side, Bailey's attitude, good stuff.

Seriously, can they stop having people trying to sleep with each other? I mean this episode wasn't bad but last week when Addison and McSlimy (sorry, still haven't changed my mind) were setting groundwork? Ugh. Same with thier hiring practices, com'on just add someone to the show that everyone likes, now that would be a shocker. In the same vein I am betting on a relationship history between Burke and Hahn. Ok, maybe I am getting carried away...

I love the whole scene with the girlfriend and the 'perfect' man (men), I thought it was pretty hilarious.

Anyone remember what happened to the check? Can you expalin it to me? Cause that was a major plot point or potential character development that has been dropped for weeks.

Probably have to wait for a new episode, they didn't show any upcoming teasers for next week.

Nice to see the Nazi back. Wonder why they made the clinic happen so fast. Seems like a storyline that could have stretched out for a few epsiodes while they were building it. Wonder what they have planned?

Yes, which is why it's named after Denny. I felt Izzie giving the money to Bailey for the Free Clinic was a mistake. I mean, wasn't Bailey the one trying to get Izzie not to get "too involved?" And, with the free clinic, that makes Izzie overly involved with this project. It upset me to the max. Host a car wash or sell stuff on ebay to get your funds, Bailey. Izzy's speech was way lame and went on forever. Her thing about George and Callie was completely out of line. She has done nothing to get to know Callie for her to make such a harsh judgement like that.

That is exactly what my hubby said was that they would have to change the name, but isnt the book that you use to take medical anatomy classes called Grey's Anatomy or is it spelled differently. Oh and the thing about Callie is that I think Izzy doesnt like it because she is a strong woman.

The book is Gray's Anatomy. I thought naming her Meredith Grey was quite clever on their part. I really like Shondra. She rules.

I really liked the imagery at the end of the show, (bomb squad guy on one side wearing all black and Danny on the other with white tee). She was sitting exactly in the middle, looking like she had a choice to make.

I just read the writer's blog (i posted the link earlier) and Shondra was saying how much she hates Izzy for what she said and how she nearly hugged the actor who plays Denny to death when he showed up on set. Also, how it was very cool of Friday Night Lights to let Kyle do the cameo.

Didn't she donate it to the "Free Clinic"?
You mean I managed to miss an episode? THANK GOD! :D

I will confess that I really enjoyed this weeks episode. The writing was excellent and I really didn't feel like my time was wasted. Good stuff.

Plus Kyle bomb guy is smoking hot. SMOKING hot.

I met him when he was on Early Edition back in Chicago. He is as sweet as he is hot. I had to resist telling him how much I loved him in Homefront which was my favorite show in high school.

Hey all, I don't watch this show, nor read this thread, but I read this earlier, and although it's probably common knowledge in the US, I thought I'd post this on the off-chance someone might find it interesting, concerning the Grey's Anatomy spin-off series.

Not sure if it contains SPOILERS...

Taye Diggs will star opposite Kate Walsh in ABC's potential spin-off from hit medical drama Grey's Anatomy.

The show will test the waters as a backdoor pilot, an expanded two-hour episode of Grey's slated to air in May. It will center on neonatal surgeon Addison Shepherd (Walsh), a character who has enjoyed a strong following from fans since she was introduced at the end of the hot surgical drama's first season.

It is understood that the backdoor pilot episode will feature Shepherd on the verge of leaving Seattle Grace, a scenario that will be triggered if ABC goes with the spin-off for next season. There were no details on the character Diggs will play.

Grey's creator/executive producer Shonda Rhimes is writing the episode and is expected to shepherd the potential series. Meanwhile, Rhimes' other ABC pilot, about female journalists, has been pushed to a summer production start.

You just broke my heart. I LOVE him now. It's official.

I miss watching Early Edition. It was shot so beautifully. Sniff. In our hometown. Sniff.

'Early Edition' was fantastic. My mom's favorite show, which is why she is on the bandwagon to keep 'Friday Night Lights' on the air.

Also, I thought Thursday's 'Grey's' was kind of weak. Didn't like the end.

Y'all can discuss now...

Dude. Seriously? Seriously?

Izzy and George. George and Izzy. WTF? What is wrong with George? Why does he feel compelled to make the wrong choice everytime? How fast do you think the entire hospital will know? Oh and does that make George the biggest slut? He's slept with 4 of the women he works with. Dude, Mark Sloan only has racked up 2.

And Alex. Alex is pulling an Izzy, but at least he realizes it.

I thought it was funny that Meredith is told to take it easy because her mom died and not because she was dead for almost 2 episodes.

And Robin Concord as Christina's ex? Awkward. She needs to find a way to open up to Burke.

This is a good show because I'm totally drawn in and want to know where they go from here.

Izzy and George. George and Izzy. WTF?

Exactly what I was thinking, especially since his WIFE told him that Izzy was attracted to him, so then what? He goes and splits a bottle of burbon with her. Yeah, that should work things out, wonder if they signed a pre-nup.

How can Christina sleep with Grey if she snores so loud? I was fully expecting Derek in the bed, I just don't know how they can get anymore relationships out of the current characters without starting down that road (I hope you can tell I am kidding).

Kinda funny how Izzy was all up in arms because Alex walks in on her in the bathroom but it was exactly the same thing with her and George.

I don't like it what-so-ever. I hate it, hate it, hate it.

Of course, in the superficial world of television, the guy always goes for the 'hot' girl. I hate it, hate it, hate it!

Did i mention I hated it!?

Uggh!

Let me just say for the record that if Mark Sloan was my boss, I'd work overtime.

On that note, I thought tonight's episode was a great follow-up to last week's. I'm a little better about the whole Izzie/George thing, but I just have a feeling he's going to fuck his marriage up.

Good episode, *insert Golf Claps here.*

Poor Callie. I feel bad. She thinks she has the great husband and he's off drunk and frolicing with his best friend.

I've counted and George has now had the most hookup among characters we know. And yet Sloan is the manwhore. Pff..

Sloan must be part cat. Dude always lands on his feet.

All-in-all a must better episode and they handled the Izzy/George thing well.

My opinions change day by day. ;)

No, in all seriousness, I love Callie. I think I was just pissed off with the whole "hookup" thing. I'm all better.
