Sorry, but today's simpsons are just not nearly as good as the old ones. The old ones were a hell of a lot funnier.

No, Brad Bird isn't working on them any longer. That is the main massive difference between the old Simpsons and the new. Brad is a God. His gospels are "Iron Giant" and "The Incredibles."

What are you talking about?! The Simpsons is not a kid's show, and I still love the old episodes. The quality has dropped dramatically in the last 6-7 years. Fangirl has a point, Brad Bird is sorely missed, but I think it's also that general malaise has sunk in with the existing writers. 17 years is too long a run for a show of it's kind. The movie is going to be terrible.

The Simpsons still has the jokes, but its run out of character development and heartfelt moments (Bird's trademark, as Fan pointed out), which sadly puts it in the same category as Family Guy.

But anyone who doubts the old episodes should go and buy the DVD's. Seasons 5-8 are damn near perfect, and episodes I've seen dozens of times still have me laughing out loud.

I thought Fox didn't start its new season until after the World Series? TiVo best have done its job.
