First of all, they keep remaking them a thousand times over with new tweaks. The last thing in the world we need is even the idea of redoing them entirely.
Second, the whole reason the movie worked is because they used unknowns. They became the characters. You use name actors and then it's harder to suspend disbelief.
Third, what phit demon said.

If they remade Star Wars, it would take away the authenticity that the original had. (And that happens with a lot of remakes). If I were to go into a theater and expect them to remake the film, I would still want the original players to be each character. Plus, you can never go wrong with Harrison Ford in tight pants holding a pistol.
Now, let's change the subject a bit. Who would your dream cast for a big screen version of the A-Team?

Nathan Fillion could totally play Face.

Ohh! That's a good one. I had Aaron Eckhart as face.
A few friends from work and I got together to make the list. So far, we've all agreed that George Clooney should play Hannibal, Vince Vaugh as Murdoch, Michael Clarke Duncan as B.A., and Sean Bean as the main bad guy.
For the chick that Face always hooks up with, we picked Scarlett Johannsen (sp?). I don't know how to spell her name, but she's an awesome actress. And so pretty.

Yes Iam well aware that will never and should never remake the triology. but what i was asking despite anyones opinion on wheter they should make it is if they did who would you have as the main cast from todays actors...
the question was put to me by a friend and i cant think of anyone to fit the roles im just wondering if anyone else can
Star Wars is sacred to a lot of people. A religion to others. It has shaped a lot of lives and influenced so many others. Nobody wants to play your game because it is, quite frankly, dumb.

Mini Me as an Ewok for sure.
The robot from the Short Circuit movies as C-3PO
Topher Grace as Luke
Colin Farrell as Han Solo
Samuel L Jackson as Lando
Tenacious D as the Mos Eisley Cantina band
The Big Show as Chewbacca
Halle Berry as Princess Leia (Anakin thought it was Obi Wan tappin his ho, when in actuality it was Mace Windu)
To get slightly off topic,
Will Ferrell as Dark Helmet in Spaceballs 2: The Search For More Money

Has anyone seen the Re-Re-Re-release of Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back? I hear that they digitally remastered it to replace all the little lightsabers with walkie-talkies and digitally replaced the entire cast with ewoks!

Why is it dumb?
An unreal fantasy shaping your life or becoming a religion, yeh, like that film shaped the world and gave life. No, the suggestion isnt dumb, its a fair question and childish for someone to negate that.
Maybe the portly policeman needs a life or a kick in the head?

Policeman? Dude, if you knew what he did for a living.... Jealousy wouldn't begin to cover it.
The reason it's dumb is that it's utter pointless. If you want to play the casting game then do it on something like Watchemen or a JLA movie or (god forbid) a 3 Amigo remake? Something possible.

That would make all the movies great.

If they were to re-make the original star wars trilogy there would be a massive suicide amongst star wars geeks. And George Lucas would have to hire a police force to protect him from outraged fans.

What are they going to do, attack him with their sticky, virgin sheets?

There's absolutely no reason to remake the one and only trilogy. Yeah screw LOTRs! George Pucas should continue the Star Wars series though. How about bringing back Darth Vader?
Starwars Episode 7: Return of Vader
Except Vader will be another character who wants to follow in his footsteps.
Oh right the question...
If they remade it, I think they should do it totally in CGI and use the same old voices.

A Watchmen movie would be awesome. Or The Dark Knight Returns.
Starring Jay and Silent Bob.

I don’t see why seriously answering the SW casting query such a problem. OK, sure it may be considered a major influence to so many and perhaps a religion to others, but c’mon! Think of it in Marvel terms as a “What if…” situation. Don’t get me wrong I‘m not advocating a remake. There’s no harm (or sacrilege to you worshipers) in answering some poor individual’s question. Think of the question like this: If you were to travel back in time to aid Mr. Lucas with the casting of Star Wars, which of today’s actors would accompany you to the audition? In reality George Lucas assembled an amazing cast and in my mind I cannot see anyone else portraying the title roles. So with my choices I randomly picked names to kick things off.
Princess Leia: Scartlett Johansson (I think she’s a good actress. Plus she looks like a princess)
Luke: Topher Grace (seen his name posted before, not a bad choice)
Han Solo: Ben Affleck, Matt Damon (I’m sure to receive death threats on this one)

I think an anime remake of the whole thing would be better. Use the same voices with some sweet animation-you know, remain in the spirit of it.
Hmmm...

Now that’s an idea!
In fact there are Star Wars Manga comic books already out there! Although I’m not a hardcore fan of anime I do appreciate it.

I don't know about still being a genious, but he definitely had something AMAZING with the original star wars trilogy. He just needs to stop re-doing movies and fucking them up.

Let's not forget American Graffiti, THX 1138, and the Indiana Jones trilogy. And while I'm at it, let me state for the record that I love Howard the Duck.

If they were going to remake the original they would ruin it. Just because something old dosn't mean it's no good. But they wouldn't remake it. But i've heard there's 9 edisodes in the series and that edisodes 7 , 8 and 9 is all about Hans and Leia's children.
