A lot of people are saying Kevin Smith is a geat director. He writes well and he produces exellent characters but there is no real skill to his direction.

He has a good script and its pretty straight forward from there. His films are amusing and sometimes they have something to say but dont get to thinking he is a great director.

Pulling a more than a minute long unheard of steady cam shot is a sign of great directing. Directing a film from unreadable material is the sign of a great director.

Smith is funny but is he Mel Brooks funny?

At best at this stage of his career he is a talented director who like Tarantino needs to prove himself with work of SUBSTANCE.

So, discuss..............................

Is Peter Jackson a great director? I don't think so. I think Randall would agree.

Peter Jackson is an amazing director. Anyone who can go from Meet the Feebles to Heavenly Creatures to LOTR is just amazing.
