Not entirely sure of the order but here are my picks:
10. Flash Gordon (not sure if this qualifies, but I think it started as a comic strip)
9. Blade
8. Daredevil
7. X-Men
6. Spiderman 2
5. X-Men 2
4. Superman
3. Batman Begins
2. Superman 2
1. Spiderman

Yes, I know, I'm the only person who liked the first Spiderman better than 2.

I pretty much agree with you there, expect the spider-man 1 being #1. and the super-man movies, but Spawn was the worst comic book film. It happens to be my favorite graphic novel, and they ruined it with that terrible movie. Sorry, I had to let that out somewhere.

4. X2

Spawn wasn't that bad. I actually liked it when I first saw it, though I hated that they felt it necessary to make Terry Fitzgerald white (didn't see the point to that) and do away with Chapel. But since I don't even read Spawn anymore, I don't think much about the movie. I will admit that the first HBO cartoon was ten times better (small quibble with having the Clown kill the serial killer instead of Spawn like in the comic).

1. Batman Begins
2. X-Men 2
3. Spiderman 2
4. Unbreakable
5. American Splendor
6. Hellboy
7. Superman
8. V For Vendetta
9. Sin City
10. Constantine

Not that I love all of these movies or agree with the changes, but they are decent adaptations. Constantine would have rocked if they had only cast Jason Stratham.

Honorable Mention:
Josie and the Pussycats - no relation to the comics, but hysterically good movie

2.Sin City
3.Spiderman 2
4.X2

8.Spawn

1. Batman Begins
2. Superman Returns
3. American Splendour.
4. Superman
5. Superman 2
6. V For Vendetta
7. Blade
8. Ghost World
9. X-Men
10. Unbreakable

(I really wanted to put The Incredibles in there, but I guess they don't qualify.)

Least favourite, in no particular order: both Spider-mans (or is that Spider-men??), X-Men 2, Constantine (I actually walked out of it), Blade 3, Superman 3 ('cept for Pryor's scenes) and 4.

10. Unbreakable

hate to be the bitch and as much as I LOVE Unbreakable, its not based on a comic-book
so if you're leaving The Incredibles out you have to throw that one too

"The Egyptians drew pictures on walls about battles, and events. Countries all around
the world still pass on knowledge through pictorial forms. (beat) I believe that comics, just at their core now... have a truth. They are depictingwhat someone, somewhere felt or experienced. Then of course that core got chewed up in the commercial machine and gets jazzed up, made titillating - cartooned for the sale rack.

This city has had its share of disasters. Well publicized ones. It was around the time of that plane crash, when it first entered my head. And there it stayed, as I waited and watched the news over the years... And then one day I see a news report on a train accident and its sole survivor who was miraculously unharmed. And just like that, an idea blossoms into the flower of possible reality."

Because the whole story revolves around a psychopath's love of comics and the belief that superheroes are real.

So by this definition Mallrats is a comicbook movie

FanGirl

Mallrats' plot is not revolving around comics. The characters merely read them. Besides, it's an adaptation of "Two Gentlemen of Verona."

I apologize for doing this, but I am going to have to throw out the "Tard" card. I can't believe that no one has mentioned "The Crow". I am talking about the first one and not the dumbass ones that came after. "The Crow" is theeeee best comic book movie ever made to date.

But then you'll have to hold out for Spiderman 3, Iron Man, Fantastic Four 2, the next Superman movie . . . comic book movies show no signs of slowing down.

Unbreakable shouldn't even count because it was just horrible. I am pleased that no one said The Hulk, which was the movie that put me on suicide watch for 48 hours. Both Spider-Man movies are overrated, but I'm most likely going to end up going to the third one. And I can't believe nobody said Mystery Men, but they did put Hellboy?!?! That's a shame.

The Hulk was bad because you could've gotten the same experience if you rented a hulk video game and played it for two and a half mind numbing hours. It wasn't anything spectacular. It also didn't have any depth in the story (but then again it is The Hulk). I also felt like they were ripping off Resident Evil (disappointment) with the mutant dogs or w/e they were. I give it a C-

...I also felt like they were ripping off Resident Evil (disappointment) with the mutant dogs or w/e they were. I give it a C-

There were no mutant dogs in RE, only animated corpses. Two completely different things. And for a back story, I thought they did a good job with the depth of the story- a lot more enjoyable than blowing stuff up in a video game for two hours. I'm guessing the relatively small amount of screen time the Hulk had was mostly what you're dissappointed about, but the Hulk has always been more about the characters than a green giant going not-stop berzerker.

1. I never knew Banner was born already suffering the side effects of the gamma radiation. Oh wait, he wasn't! It happened to him in an experiment gone wrong. THEY CHANGED THE STORY LINE!!!!!!

2. The Hulk character looked like a cartoon character. If you are gonna go with CGI, you might as well go all the way. If I wanted to watch a movie that combined live-action characters with cartoon characters, I would have watched "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" again.

3. THEY CHANGED THE F'ING STORY LINE!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, ditto on this
I'm all fine with the idea of changing some details to fit a 3 act mould but to completely change his whole reason for being... it just doesnt work
Plus I'm sick to death of changing stories to fit in a "daddy" issue, my whole basis for hating the Willy Wonka remake
But that's another day's rant...

Okay, I rented V for Vendetta this weekend. Excellent friggin' movie. Here is my revised list.

10. X-Men
9. Batman
8. Spiderman
7. Spawn
6. Judge Dredd (Screw you too)
5. Blade
4. Hellboy
3. Sin City
2. V for Vendetta
1. The Crow

Aaron: Even though I do hate just about all remakes that have been coming out over the past few years, I do not consider the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory a remake. It is actually how the movie should have been made in the first place, as it follows the book a lot closer than the original movie. Yes, they did add info as a background to the story, but I don't think that is as bad as completely changing the basis for the whole movie.

Oh, and I will always like both versions of the movie.

I just didn't like it. Too long, not enough cool action scenes, ending fight was pretty crappy, and the story was basically destroyed by Hollywood (but I must admit I really did kind of like the comic book transitions). Plus I never really liked the Hulk. Although, now there are talks about David Duchovny playing Banner in the sequel, which would totally rock.

And why hasn't anyone (including myself) mentioned the ultimate comic book movie...

Seriously, it's really funny and completely underappreciated. I mean, who wouldn't want to rent a movie starring Mark Hamill, Billy West, and Jess Harnell?

As a Roald Dahl fanatic for as long as I can remember I just don't see how it was THAT much closer to the book
To be honest i feel they both had an equal amount of "new" material each

Despite the adding of this terrible "daddy" thing they also completed neglected the whoe reason Charlie wins the factory in the first place... SLUGWORTH!
I mean c'mon people, Charlie ended up winning by default, he didnt have to make the selfless gesture of giving the candy back
There is no moral to this movie

Besides, with all their CGI boasting the inside of the factory looked bare and not half as impressive to a child like the original would have been

I know I said I wouldnt start ranting about this but I just dont except peoples view that because it might have two lines of dialogue closer to the book than the original movie that it is a better film

Let's judge the movie by the movie

The fight with Dad at the end was really the only part that didn't work for me. Otherwise, I liked it quite a bit.

The comics are not about the effects of a gamma bomb. The comics are about the innate, primal instincts and emotions of man, as well as the frustration and anger all of us bottle up inside. The Hulk character is merely the personification of letting all those things out at once. The Hulk comics are about how no matter how much intelligence, culture, social mores, and society and general pervasiveness of these influences in human life, deep down inside we are all still beasts with true purity.

I like movies and discussing them...it just took me a while to find a site I feel is enjoyable to post on. I like to bring more than "movie X sucks" or film snob shit to the table. I just want discussion, not people trying to show how cool they are. I'm into punk, underground rap, and indie films but just because not everybody knows about it(film, song, etc) doesn't mean it's good.

Damn, I forgot about that one. I used to love everything about the Turtles back in the day. To this day, TMNT 2 is still one of my favorite movies, and I found myself accurately quoting it last time I watched it. I know it's not (anywhere near) the best movie ever made, but I just love that movie. And before anyone else brings it up, yes I remember the Vanilla Ice dance sequence.

My friend and I constantly say random Clerks II quotes during Spanish class, but no one seems to notice. Mainly "Are you looking for a good Transformers site?" and the King Diamond lyrics. Oh, and I constantly say "Thanks picklefucker", although it's really never appropriate. Before Clerks II all we said was "That kid is on the escalator again!". It's extremely entertaining because no one (when they notice) knows what we're talking about. In fact, I'm gonna bring back the Ninja Rap......or not. Yeah, probably not.
