I REALLY REALLY want to see it but our dumbass theater doesn't have it. They have Little Man instead. WHY?!?!?!?!?!??!

I don't think I can get over the animation style.

The wife and I tried to watch Waking Life. She made us give up after a couple of minutes.

I watched the 24 minutes of it that IGN has up. I was excited before, but now I can't wait. I can safely say this is going to be in heavy rotation on my DVD playlist when it comes out too.
After a bit, you lose track of the animation. The scramble-suits are awesome- they could only be achieved this way.
After the film, I was a little disorientated- I was so used to seeing the animation that by the end, real life looked weird.
And this movie really is a tribute to Dick's firends that succumbed to the lifestyle.
Really cool film- highly, highly reccomend it.

And this movie really is a tribute to Dick's firends that succumbed to the lifestyle. It looks utterly faithful to the book, and that's what the book was.
The reason I like the animation is:
A. It adds a seamlessness to the special effects, like the scramble-suit, but also lower profile effects like the video screens, the aphids, the guy with the eyeballs all over his head, and I'm sure Arctor's cephelacromaocope will look cool if that's in the movie.
B. It seems like a perfect way to represent the fake life all the characters are living -- Jerry's hallucinations, Freck's habitual lying, Arctor's mental breakdown, Donna's big secret. It's like, as a viewer, the animation acts as our Substance D, and alienates us from the reality of the story.
It looks extremely well done. The only thing I noticed that threw me off was that the cars seem to float a little bit. Everything else was beautiful.

Am I the only one excited to see this because of Rory Cochrane?

He's not the only reason I want to see it but he's a good one. I loved him as Slater in Dazed and Confused.

Not to mention Lucas in Empire Records.

I can't comprehend how some people wouldn't want to see the movie because of the animation style. Isn't that a huge selling point?! How can you not look at it and be amazed? That's almost as bad as my one friend who wouldn't see Sin City with me in theatres because it was black and white. I ended up having to wait to see it on DVD. After I finally saw and enjoyed the hell out of Sin City, I threw the DVD case at his head. As for Scanner, it'll hit my theatre in about a week.

That's the only reason I'm interested in seeing it.
