I have a chance to go see Rob Zombie in concert the day before my birthday as a present, but I'm wondering if it would be worth it. The man is a musical genius but tickets are $45 each (One for my dad and I) so the whole thing would easily end up being over $100 (gas money, tickets, merch). This would most likely be it for my birthday, and I didn't know if anyone here has seen him in concert or heard what his concert's like. Please post with your input if possible, but be quick because the concert is less than a week away. If nothing else, thanks for taking the time to read this.

Great on the CDs, but great in concert?

I saw him a few years ago and he was great. Put on an amazing show! Ill go see him again when/if I get the chance.

I saw him back when it was still White Zombie... absolutely worth it.

Saw him on one, or two, of the Ozzfest bills. Damn good show.

Like jk I saw him when it was White Zombie - back when his music was good. Now that his music isn't good, I recommend you skip it.

I saw him on an Ozzfest bill too and although I'm not particularly fond of him, I thought he gave a good show.
If you think he's a musical genius why *wouldn't* you go? I mean, you only get so many chances to see an artist live and if it's someone you like...

Well, I decided to skip the concert (I'm just fine with listening to the CDs). I got a guitar instead, which seems like a pretty good trade. Unfortunately, as of now I can only play the opening line to Sabbath's Iron Man, which is just using one string. Anyway, thanks for the input.

Seriously? His music hasn't been good since White Zombie? All right. . .I'm going to have to ask you to quantify this one a bit more. Otherwise, you might get accused of stating an opinion without backing it up properly. . . :p

Exactly. I haven't seen a decrease in the quality of his music at all. Sure Educated Horses isn't the best CD around, but it's sure a hell of a listen. I must say, Past Present and Future (his greatest hits) is one of my favorite CDs of all time, right up there with Kiss Destroyer, Guns N' Roses Appetite For Destruction, and AC/DC Back in Black.

While the CD isn't great, Supersexy Swingin' Sounds, showed the groove that was somewhat apparent in White Zombie's music. There'd be no way to make such an album with Rob's solo stuff. So I tend to find the solo stuff boring...and rather uninspiring.

First, JJ is a physicist and not a concert or music reviewer trying to pass off his unsupported opinion as a "review." ;)

Second, some guys are here to work on your craw:

Answer: a "craw" is a pouchlike enlargement of a person's emotional "gullet" in which experiences are partially digested or stored for regurgitation to nestlings. (Dictionary.com)

What? Oh my God. I have that CD. I got it brand new at a garage sale for $3. I just saw Ted Nugent and bought it. Why'd you post it?

So, if I understand you and By-tor correctly. . .I have the Damn Yankees stuck in my emotional "gullet" and you are sending over some guys with jack hammers to work on helping me regurgitate to my nestlings?

Umm. . .thanks? :D
