Seriously though, did anybody have opinions about the flick? I personally quite enjoyed the ending.

Edit: Hated what they did with Norrington.

... the way it ended sucked...

...but the end sucked...

You do know that there is a third movie, slated for release Memorial Day weekend 2007, a third movie that was shot at the same time as the second? The second being... Duhn-duhn-DUHHHN... a cliff hanger?

I guess they could have compressed it all down into a 90-minute crapfest just to satisfy those of you who have the attention span of a gnat and the patience of a five-year old on Christmas Eve. Sometimes in life, the anticipation is what makes the payoff that much sweeter. "The ending sucked..." Boo-freakin' hoo. You should have stayed at home and watched Pokeman.

a) Some people have yet to see the movie, so giving away the ending is a bit stupid/selfish/inconsiderate. Take your pick.

b) Please stop typing like a valley girl.

I didn't think you'd prove my point that easily.

Next time, try being disappointed instead. I hear it is more effective.

Also, pretending like you are winning something is just sad. Saying "you proved my point" is the oldest puss-out in the Internet forum flame war book. I should know, I wrote it.

As an aspiring screenwriter, I can tell you that one of the most important elements in writing is to make your audience say "what now?". If the collective reaction of the theater I saw it in was any indication, Elliot and Rossio managed to do just that.
Anyone who was disappointed with the way it ended should probably stick to sit-coms and The Real World.

I didn't think Pirates 2 was terrible, but i also didn't think it was AMAZING. I'm swinging towards really good. I've seen it three times now. I especially liked the Kraken, that was pretty nifty.

i know your talking

You've never even met me, so how could you know my voice? I'm assuming that's what you meant, what with the excellent use of gramar.

Or did you mean...

I know you're talking, but all I can hear is "BLAH BLAH BLAH"

And there seems to be somewhat of a consensus in my favor- if you didn't like the ending, stick movies you find more... palatable. Something you can digest in one sitting and then mostly forget about once you leave the theater. You probably hated the ending of Empire as well...

I'll give my verdict tonight, currently though I'm playing POTC: the legend of jack sparrow, I'm not liking it's simplicity and even though IMDB has Depp listed as the voice talent for sparrow (and everyone else credited is a soundalike) I'm convined he is not voicing him.

I thought Pirates 2 was great. Great (albeit annoying) cliffhanger. Not quite as good as the first, but pretty nifty nonetheless.

NOn spoiler review.

Okay the story begins, keira pouts a little and Orlando looks lovely, stuff kics off and Jack comes onto the scene, His entrance is Magnifiqué, very memroable just like in the first movie. And then we have a great start set on an island of cannibals with some over the top albiet very entertaining Slapstickery. Leaving the island things start to slow down a little, we're introduced to the baddie and I marvel at the CGI involved because its probably some of the best i've seen. Something doesn't feel right though, like to much plot is riccocheting (sp?) between characters when it probably would have been in the movies best interests to simplify things a little and reduced that run time by I dunno, 15-25 minutes. Things pick up towards the end and theres a few good surprises thrown in.

Overall its a good movie, trouble is that it's a sequal and expectations were riding high. Trouble is that the first movie was too successful in being not only one of the best original movies out in 2003, but the best pirate movie in years. Thankfully the story is good and its a great movie for kids with enough grown up humour in there for adults, I'm in for the ride when the 3rd movie comes out.

Despite what early rumours said, Keith Richards does not make an appearance as Sparrow Senior.

The movie wasn't as good as the first one, but I still liked it.

I don't get why Elizabeth was sitting in the rain on her wedding day though. The shot was beautiful, but she didn't know that Will was being arrested yet...so what was she doing??
