I am no hater. I LOVE K.Smiths films. I love his sense of humor and characters, etc. I was even touched by his "Darth and Me" piece in Rolling Stone since I too as a child was taken to my nearest Toys r Us to see Vader and company.
Last night I saw a screening of Clerks II.
Being a StarWars child of the 70's close in age with the characters of Dante and Randell for the most enjoyed this flick-BUT...The scene with a dance number to the Jackson 5's ABC contains a segment that should have been cut out from the film. It really was one of those scenes when I found myself feeling disappointed and saying to myself, "oh no, why did he do that?"
It starts out nice with Dante learning how to dance from Rosario Dawson's character, then we see shots of jay and silent bob dancing and then various people in the fast food restaurant start singing and dancing, then out in front of the fast food joint, from out of nowhere a bunch of trendy clad dancers come out and start to do this huge routine dance that looked straight out of a fucking Winterfresh gum commercial-it was that bad!
I am afraid that that scene will go down in cinematic history as Kev's "Jar-Jar" moment.
Otherwise the film was very, ver funny, could have tone down the sillyness of jay and silent bob (trying too hard to be funny) and could have used one or two more star wars jokes.
Randell is still piss funny as hell-after watching this film, Kev Smith fans will be flying flags saying "Porch Monkey forever"
Over all i will probably go see this flick again and most likely buy the dvd.

You know what -- even if you told me the ending I'd still go to see the movie.
When people tell me what happens in a movie it doesn't make me mad.
Most movies are really predictable anyways, you know what's going to happen.
You go the theatre to see what's in between.
If somebody told you how a painting looked, I don't think it would really ruin the experience.
You just go and see for yourself.

I am sorry if I spoiled anything about the flick, but I really did'nt give up any real spoilers from the movie here, i was just bitching about one part that just didnt fit in the movie.
Believe me there is much, much more to the film that I could spoil, this "ABC" is the only one bad scene to a overall quite good film.

Some people don't want to know anything about the film. They even avoid the commericals. Please be more sensitive to that especially since this is a Kevin Smith website.

Dude the dance scene rocked! I thought it was extremely funny and well done, sort of an homage to Mel Brooks almost. You are sadly mistaken, that scene totally pwned.

Jar Jar Rules, his slapstickery was never too grating unlike Threepio in Clones. I don't really get why people said he talked too much either, was it that they couldn't understand him?

To steal a sentiment from Zens, Rosario Dawson is now elligible to be a future ex-Mrs. Hood strictly because of that scene.

Hahahaha. You can't mention her name in Fan Girl's presence ever. You don't want to see what happens when you do.
I know I'll never be the same. :(

apparently there is a scene in the new star wars tv series where Jar Jar is captured by the empire and Tortured. The scene will see Jar Jar whipped to death and scream for his life as his body is slashed to pieces.. ooooh im getting hard just thinking about it.
