So, has anyone seen the new pirates, yet?

Do let me know if it is worth fighting the crowds tonight, if you have .

Saw it today. Fuckin' loved it. Want the DVD, right freakin' NOW. Want part 3 tomorrow. Depp is just, well, Depp. He cracked me up with a facial expression quicker than any of his one-liners. BUGGER! The effects were pretty damn good, too. Great action. The swordplay on the waterwheel is destined to be a classic swashbucklin' scene. That shouldn't be a spoiler(I fuggin' hope). Anyway, I'll stop before I get myself in trouble. Just go see it.
And there's eye candy for both sexes.

And no, I won't be needing fries with that.

Edit: Damn red crosses!!

Going to see it this afternoon. Couple of people at work saw it yesterday and were just going nuts about it... I'll be postin' me thoughts on 't later.

I enjoyed it a lot. Is it better than the first one? No. Is it worth seeing? Absolutely. It's fun for all the same reasons the first one is fun.

As for the ride and the new changes, they kicked ass. They added music from the movies, Barbosa is on the ship bombing the fort, Jack is in three different places, the added more references to Davy Jones, they made everything look shiner, and they added a cool looking projection of Davy Jones. All in all very good changes. They are supposed to be adding Will and Elizabeth next year or year after.

I get to see the ride, hopefully, on Wed. So excited! I haven't been to Disneyland in ages.

As for the movie, I thought it was really good. I saw it when I was dead tired and I still was interested the whole time.

I would talk more, but I must say Orlando Bloom has a sexy, sexy, sexy back! Oh yeah!

You could put Jack Sparrow in a movie about watching paint dry at a paper clip factory and it would still be entertaining. Seriously though, without him I don't think I would have liked this movie very much at all.

Anytime there was a scene without him, I caught myself thinking: Get back to Jack, get back to Jack!!!

Johnny Depp sort of lost his 'Captain Jack'-esque accent a bit, but he was still amazing.

Loved it.

Saw it on the day it opened. Drove from Tampa to Atlanta so my daughter and I could see it. When it was over, she turns to me and asks "we're getting this on DVD when it comes out, right?" followed closely by "When is the next movie coming out?"
Oh yeah...it's that good.
Our local critic bagged it, but then he gave the same grade to it that he gave to Poseidon. Reading his review makes it clear that he just didn't even attempt to understand.

I'm finally breaking down and watching the first one tonight. That means I should be able to add to this thread in 2008.

Did anybody think what they did with Norrington was wrong? Is he driven by something other than what we are shown? Am I the only one who actually thought this character was interesting in the first movie?

Just saw it today. Pretty good, but felt like half a movie. A 150 minute half of a friggin awesome movie. I loved the first one when I saw it in theaters, then saw it about 50 times on DVD (in school, at friends, with my folks, everywhere) and lost my love for the film, but Dead Man's Chest makes me want to rewatch it, which really impresses me. Overall, definitely worth watching.

I thought he looked sexy.

I saw this today.

I had grown tired of the original, so I wasn't expecting much. I did enjoy it though, a perfectly acceptable way to spend the afternoon.
Sparrowmania is lost on me though, I love Johnny (Ed Wood is my fav performance of his), but he doesn't tickle my funny bone in either of the two films.

No. I found his character to be very interesting in the first film. So often, a character like his would have been portrayed as a bumbling fool of high social standing who had no business doing what he was doing. Instead, he was a brave, skilled commander.
As for this film, I think it's important to remember that it is merely a bridge to the third film. It stands fine on its own, but much of what we saw here is to set up what we will see in the final installment. From what I've read, Former Commedore Norrington becomes Admiral Norrington. Obviously, his theft of Davy Jones' heart is well rewarded. I see him being pivotal in the final film because of his feelings for Elizabeth. I see him betraying her and then rescuing her. Just a thought.

So I finally got to see it last night...

It was good. I think the only reason that I wasn't blown a away , was because of all the hype. I mean everyone that I talked to that loved the movie, was in LOVE with the movie. So, I had really high expectations and hopes.

All in all it was a lot of fun.

I'm finally breaking down and watching the first one tonight. That means I should be able to add to this thread in 2008. As promised, I did, in fact, see the first one on Monday night. The only part that I didn't like was Norrington giving Elizabeth up so easily at the end of the movie.

We may actually see the new one this weekend, allowing me to be current, or mostly current anyway, on two movies at the same time (planning on seeing Clerks II on opening night).
