It approaches. They haven't posted the official schedule up yet which is driving me insane. I've heard about a few panels that sound cool, but I want my schedule dammit.
I noticed they changed the hours this year. Preview night is an hour later and the floor is open until 7p now. That will be interesting how it effects the after show parties and fun. If the Eisners start at 8p, that's not a lot of time to change and grab dinner.
Anyone needs any tips and tricks I have quite a few including how not to pay the insane parking fees in that area and best places to eat where you don't have to wait.
I'll bring back pictures and stories. Considering 90% of the alcohol I drink all year is consumed at comicon. I hope to be there the entire time (most of it spent harassing Ryall), but if I get stuck on jury duty it will only be the weekend and I will up very, very unhappy.
So who's going?

I wanted to go, but finances just don't allow this year. However, I believe I sicked my comic book teacher on Ryall and that may be good for a laugh. It seems that his job at IDW belonged to a good friend of hers before he took it.
I do find it kinda funny that Ryall wouldn't know me from a hole in the ground and probably will wonder what the fuck this woman is talking about when she says one of her students told her to look him up. after all he is an Eisner nominated FILF, is he not?

I'm more surprised he's a FILF than and Eisner nominee.

Like Mariah "Hari" Carey sang...I'll be there...3rd year in a row.
Last year was a complete blur as I was jostling interviews with trying to get my swerve on down on the floor.
This year, though, it's all about nixing any panel interviews and making sure that if it isn't an exclusive then I'm just there as a fan. I'm lining up people to share here on the site as we speak; it'll be nice to see whether there'll be some good talent to talk to this time out.

Dude , I don't really understand your beef with PJ fans, though am one, I made some disparaging remarks about their latest effort here (http://moviepoopshoot.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5957) and was disagreed with, but quite politely.
Perhaps more importantly, if one or two members here bash you , that doesn't mean we all hate you.

We need more information on the movies that the studios are going to pimp, yo!
Since I've applied for my Media Pass I've gotten the line already on one studio's offerings and it is downright dreadful, awful. I know some geeks would disagree but I am trying like a mo-fo to find out what the plan is going to be for SPIDER-MAN 3. Should be, in the words of Trump's hair weave, "Huge."

Comicon Tip#12:
Consider picking up a few items at the grocery story to keep in your hotel room. You will be getting up early and staying out late. It’s nice to have snacks like breakfast muffins, chips, extra water, etc. in your room. If you are planning on drinking and staying out late, make sure you have some Gatorade, water and headache medicine.
I'm writing up several tips for my co-workers who are attending for the first time. I thought I'd share that one as it has saved me for the last several conventions.

No, but those of us, namely me, who are going to grab some time with A thru D listers for 1:1 time will be roaming the floor all weekend.
On that note, is there a tenative plan for any of us to collectively come together in a Nerd Herd and drink? Namely, over at the Hyatt where all the big hitters go to unwind after the Con? I'd like to see the readership in person...and beat some of you with a grammar stick.

In all seriousness, I haven't seen a response from the man in charge regarding an actual booth.
It would definitely be a shame if we did not have one or if we couldn't sponge a bit off the ViewAskew space.

Preview Night was the busiest it has ever been. It was like a regular day. Got a "Hot Fuzz" shirt and met up with a few people. Tried stalking Ryall, but he is mobile this year. Hope to catch up with others and check out some panels. Anything cool happens, I will report.

Great news...depending on what you think is great news...
I've managed to secure a camera and, from what I hear, the convention center is hooked up for Wi-Fi so I hope to beam lots of pictures into this thread in the coming days (M.C. - Reach out to a brotha and hit my cell if you're around 480-628-4699 so I can do something constructive with my time while I'm there). I've had the door slammed in my face by pretty much every studio for 1:1 time but since I'm being allowed behind the curtain for some other things I'm going to try and snap a few things here and there as I am going to be lugging my laptop around with me all 4 days.
Who knows, this may not work, or I'll completely lose interest in doing it, or I may just be too self-involved to man-up or I might not shoot a damn thing. I hope I do, though, as I know I'm in a really bad mood going there (the whole shut-out thing with the studios) and want to turn this frown upside down; the Ativan should help, though, as I am terrified to fly and this wonder drug is like Calgon for the mind.

Weirdness on the floor. Preview night was busier than yesterday. Everyone is baffled. Curious to see how today goes.
Ryall's panel was great. Huge turn out. Someone asked if there were going to do anything with the girl Transformers. He said not at this time. So I came up after the panel and asked "So every place you work you get harassed about not enough girls, is this why you had a daughter?"
Gotherella's kids were a big hit with an Owly costume that they took turns wearing. Tons of pictures were taken. Including by my own camera, so I'll post them when I get home. They also are filling up their sketch books. I'm kind of jealous.
Ran into ChristopherStipp despite his flying fears mentioned above, he got hear safe and sound. Ran off to a panel and haven't caught back up with him yet.
I checked out the CFQ/Geek magazine movie preview panel. I must say DOA looks wonderfully bad. Like Barbed Wire good/bad. There is a HUGE Snakes on a plane display up. Not too many costumes wondering about. I did see a night elf, a few storm troopers, a few ghostbusters, several young girls dressed as Supergirl and a demon looking guy who had Barbies dressed as fairies impailed on the spikes of his costume - very adorable.
So that's all from yesterday. More to report tomorrow!

Today is the last day of comicon. I'm about to start packing up and hitting the floor and a few panels one last time. Had a lot of fun. Got nice and drunk last night. I love Newcastle. Took tons of pictures which I'll post soon enough. I probably took too many of Edgar Wright, but he's soooo dreamy. I forgot he was directing Ant Man. I'm seeing him on another panel today to promote "Hot Fuzz."
I haven't been reading the rest of the threads so I'll catch up later!

Well, the Ativan helped greatly....(Side note: if you're ever prescribed it for anxiety over flying NEVER chug a beer before a flight. You will become one of those amusing human jelly cliches you always see in movies when someone takes a "muscle relaxant" and where comedy is supposed to ensue. Oh boy will it ensue...)
Met up again with FanGirl! Always a pleasure to be eye-to-eye with someone off the Internets. It makes me feel that the world is a little less expansive so it was groovy to see that woman gorge herself on patches which, I am assuming, have found their way onto a piece of denim. You need to find one that speaks to you, FG. Give it time.
Hooked up breifly, as well, with our one time columnist who wrote about comics geared to the little ones; made me miss my two girls at home as well.
Sadly, I didn't get to see either of them again as I seriously was a slave to publicists and movie roundtables. It was vicious and the whole thing got out of control when publicity for Spider-Man 3 (Kirsten Dunst...hawt in person, yo...) turned ugly and was denied panel access due to some "unforseen error" that I really can't get into but will be making mention of in my column this week or next.
Highlight of the Con? It was not seeing Sam Jackson, it was not throwing back beers with MC Bell (where's the love for this man, people?) but it came in the form of getting into a screening of BORAT.
This movie is one of the most racially offensive movies ever put to celluloid, it defied logic when one scene included a close up of Borat getting tea-bagged by a corpulent man and it was surreal to hear how some Americans feel about dealing with the situation in the Middle East.
I HAVEN'T LAUGHED THIS HARD IN AGES. The whole audience was INTO this movie and there wasn't one thing that needed to be changed.
I'll speak more of this soon but I had to check in and apologize for not being able to deliver on the pictures as, yes, there was wi-fi in the convention center but, no, there wasn't enough juice to even surf a few pages without it being a pain in the ass. It was teh suck.
More later...

Yeah, I even had his book with me when I went to San Diego. Passed right by the man as I walked through the hall. I would've had him sign it but I honestly, seriously, had to leave it back in the car with other things as I was already weighted down like a pack mule. Had to pick and choose...
If anyone wonders, and I would, he was really affable, nice and everything you wouldn't have expected from the man's musings.
