You know what? I will go so far as to say, after months of site prep and sleepless nights in getting the new place up-and-running, I may have overreacted myself. However, I am not in the mood for a "Let's haze the new guy in charge." Am I Ryall? No, I'm not. Do I respect what he did for multiple years on MPS? I most certainly do, or I would not have thanked him in my opening article on the new site. Am I in charge now? Yes, I am.

I want nothing more than for this to be a fun, lively place - which also means that everyone has to realize that this is not a private club for a dozen regulars. This is a club for anyone who wants to join up and join in on the discussions - the hazing and distrust I've seen of newbies is disturbing and unfortunate.

As far as not wanting you around? Bullshit. The option was on the table to wipe the boards clean and start fresh with the new site, and it was something I was opposed to - and as you can see, it did not happen.

To address the distrubing hazing, I don't think that is accurate. Granted, there is hazing when someone shows up on the board and says something rude, vugar, spams, or is idiotic. When a person posts with something appropriate or just plain funny they are encouraged and welcomed. We were all new once.

This is not a private club and never has been. It may seem like that because there is a group of people that have become dedicated to the site and it's content and contributors. Just like the real world where we meet and invite new friends into the fold, such is the case here. Just like the real world if someone comes into our home and takes a dump on the floor and eats all the shrimp cocktail we will not be so gracious. Well, maybe they could sneak away with the shrimp, but only after we were too drunk to notice.
