Funniest film ever? Not so much. Unless some of that whole "emotional core to the characters" stuff just makes you wet yourself.

On a Smith-owned board, you come in, don't poke around, don't realize what with the banner ads, links to blogs, and so on, that we might possibly have heard of this? Wowie. Next time you're in Italy, try the pasta. I don't know if you know, but it's good.

No problem. Any picture you want to use would have to be on the 'net. Pretty much every service provider out there offers some sort of internet storage- FTP your picts there and link away. Or use a hosting service, or myspace, or any of the myriad other choices out there.

And welcome to the 'shoot, I mean... 'stop...

Whatever...

I WANT YOU , to go ahead and spread the word , little missy . The next whining newbie comes in here looking to me for cookie and a hug -- I swear to Aisha-- I am going to hurt them, and YOU , you neurotic little freakshow. Take your blah-blah to the blah-blah-ologists. Because if you are so stupid as to come here regurgitating such useless drivel ( and I imagine that you are ) about some overused quasi-offensive endearment, then you're just gonna have to go ahead replace the captain of your lil brainship , cause he's drunk at the wheel.

Well, there IS a way to host pictures and even webpages off of your comp.. First you need a ftp server of some sort stored on your harddrive, then use no-ip on your computer, like http://www.no-ip.com/. After you set this up, (or a similar configuration) you can use pictures off of your harddrive. BUT your computer has to be on for people to see them.

After watching the flick, I was upset that I didn't get a chance to watch it Friday night. It was fantastic.

I enjoyed seeing all the characters back in action (and I must say, Randall is still the greatest fucking character in cinema, ever). I especially loved the mix they put in with Kevin's (amazing looking) wife. And the *highlight to read the spoiler* cameo of Harley always breaks my heart. He knows exactly when, and where, to place her in his movies. And she looks so grown up! I loved Rosario (yes, I know I will be killed for saying this Fanny). She was a perfect blend for the cast. And I especially fell in love with the Elias character. Reminds me of me when I was that age and how naive I was at 18.

Each film Kevin puts out shows how much more he has matured since the first Clerks, but I still look forward to the dick, fart and sexual jokes. They, as old as they can be, always makes me laugh. Loved it. I am planning on seeing it again tomorrow, and then again Wed. since I promised some friends I would see it with them. And I bet it is going to be as good as the first time.

My list:

Clerks.
Clerks II
Mallrats
Dogma
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
Jersey Girl
Chasing Amy

Saw it last night. I can't believe that for a while I wasn't too hyped on seeing this. Smith knows how to play to his strengths, I'll never doubt him again. Hilarious. Just f'n hilarious. I stayed, but didn't see anything of the Clerks graphic novel. I was just waiting to see what all of Kevin Smiths movies say at the very end. What movie will Jay and Silent Bob be in next. Sadly it just said they dont know, but after seeing them in Clerks II I like them alot agian. Strike back wasn't of my likeing.

I have to admit I was very skeptical about this one. It seemed corny from the previews. I was going to sit and watch only for loyalty sake.... But OH MY GOD! I honestly have never laughed so hard at a movie. I loved every aspect. I will be going to see it again. It is my new favorite Kevin flick.

Anyone know when the soundtrack hits shelves? I've seen the movie 3 times already and plan another 3. I'll need the dialogue tracks to keep me until it hits DVD. Oh, and my new list...

Clerks II/Mallrats
Dogma
Clerks
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
Chasing Amy
Jersey Girl

Saw it Friday night.
I was bartending/waitering when Clerks came out and completely identified with almost every aspect of it (I even remember quoting one busy night "This job would be great if it wasn't for all the F$%KING customers." :D )

After worrying only mildly about how C2 would measure up against the original, I was instantly put at ease as I laughed my ass off along with several hundred other movie goers for the next 2 hours. It got quite the applause at the theatre I was at, and nearly everyone stayed right to the end of the credits.

Everyone knows sequels usually suck. I can honestly say now "Thank you, Kevin Smith. For sequels everywhere, thanks for takin' it back." :D :D :D

I saw Clerks 1 for the first time last weekend. Never even knew it existed. I had to laugh at Jay, he looked like he was about 16 yrs old. Damn, maybe he was. How old is Jay anyway?

But anyway I watched and it was good. When I saw them playing hockey on the roof I freaked!! I have a son who would do something like that and it shot a fear up my back thinking my son might do something stupid like that.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to see Clerks 2.

Has the flood of new people happened because Clerks 2 is out or some other reason?

If you mean that you've had a lot of members join recently that is probably the reason. My husband introduced my to Jay & Silent Bob a couple years ago and I loved them but I never heard anything about them on tv or anywhere. When Clerks2 came out I got really curious about both of them. I'm impressed by Kevin and how much he's accomplished and yet still has that "one of the guys" attitude. And Jay, well, as they say, we all have a Jay in our lives or were one at some point. I know I was in my days of ol"........

Saw it last night. While I was in it, I thought is was just good. But then I came home and watched the VH1 Clerks II special and it reminded me of all the jokes that I forgot about because of the fiery end to Jay and Silent Bob at the end of the movie. I didn't get to see the end credits.

[FONT=Comic Sans MS][COLOR=DeepSkyBlue]I went and saw Clerks 2 the day it came out. I had waited 11 years for this. I have been a fan since the first one came out. I have the full Kevin Smith collection, I loved the movie beyond description. The thing I had a problem with is these little 19 year old shits that think that Clerks is in the same boat as American Pie. The whole experiance was almost runned by idiots that can't get the jokes and don't even recognize the music in the back ground. One joker actually thought that all the music must so new he just hadn't heard before the movie release. Blah!!! Stupid kids. But the funny thing was the guy that brought his date to the movie. He laughed at the ass to mouth gag and his girlfriend didn't agree with his oppinion. LOL He so got punched.

07-30-2006, 02:20 PM
Clerks 2 - Wow. I can't beleive what i have just seen. I am not talking in a "good way".

First of all, from reading through many of these posts I see that I am in an extreme minority here. But here goes- I could not have been more dissapointed by this film.

I'll never forget the first time I saw Clerks. Which is amazing considering the dozens of times i have watched and enjoyed it. Here was a movie that seemed to bring the sense of humor of my generation to screen. Irreverent, crude, fearless, down- to - earth insight and observation. Most importantly it was funny and very familiar. Like i was watching "Jersey" incarnations of people from my life. And it was funny. Memorable, quotable, laugh out loud funny. Mallrats, Chasing Amy, etc carried on the concept. Loved them all probably especially Chasing Amy. I was very dissapointed when Kevin said the Veiw Askewaverse was over in films and he was moving on to new things. Now I wish he had not changed his mind.

There was maybe one scene in Clerks 2 which raised a chuckle out of me and that was Jay's "Silence of the Lambs" recreation. Unfortunately that was it. The rest was just a sad, sad, jumble of crude, boorish, 9th grade level jokes that were not funny outside of the ninth grade.

I'm not a prude. I'm not easily offended. But I also don't laugh at something that is not funny. I don't giggle at jokes simply because they are as gross as they can be. The "humor" here is all "pushing the boundries of the acceptable" with none of the insight, truth or belly laughs. I was actually bored through most of the film. Bored. Waiting for... something to engage me, ignite an unstoppable belly laugh the likes of which Smith's previous films had no problem accomplishing. But this whole film felt contrived, poorly written and executed, and utterly without any heart.

"37 dicks" from the original was funny. It was quotable. It was FUNNY. It was real life. It said so much about our foibles and jealousies regarding our relationships. This films' great line is... "ass to mouth"??? Wow. Crude. Unfunny. Maybe my freinds and girlsfreinds are just way to fundamentalist but it just doesn't really strike me as something real people discuss in any way similar to what was portrayed on film. So crude and unfunny. So boring and forgetable.

There are many more thing I could critisize or comment on bit I won't. I kinda just want to forget Clerks had a sequel. Anyone out there feel the same but afraid to say so on these mighty boards?

Sorry, didn't have time for a real reply earlier. Guess that kinda did sum it up though. Anyway, I kinda agree on the ass-to-mouth thing (although Elias's reaction was hilarious). I liked the movie and can't think of a reason that someone would hate it as much as you do, but whatever. I guess it's true that...

Anyway, sorry about the short reply earlier, but I was pissed because Clerks II is so awesome I couldn't see anyone who liked the original disliking this one so much that I had to write something.

Anyway, sorry about the short reply earlier, but I was pissed because Clerks II is so awesome I couldn't see anyone who liked the original disliking this one so much that I had to write something.

Fair enough.

I was surprised myself. I really expected that i would love it but it just didn't connect with me at all. I'm not happy about that, beleive me. Rather than picking up the Clerks 2 DVD I think I'll finally buy the 10th anniversary edition of the original that I have been too cheap to buy.

If you don't mind my asking, how old are you? A lot of people that did connect with it were angst-ridden 20 somethings back when the original came out and are now facing some of the same things Dante and Randall are in the sequal. Maybe you haven't reached a point in your life where those themes are relative yet. Hell, I don't know- you've only posted three times.

I'm only 17 and I really connected with Clerks II. All 4 times I've seen it. And I plan to see it at least one more time this week (although I'll probably see it 2 or 3 more times).

WTF?

Funny you ask. I'm 33, right in line with the characters of Dante and Randall. Clerks (I) was a definer of my pop culture. This sequel (to me) just feels alien. Forced and crude. Just not funny at all.

I guess I'm just an old bastage, but I've never had a problem with "connecting" with a flick age-wise. If it's funny, it's funny. If it's sad, it's sad. If it's scary, it's scary. If it's this...

I know that this might be just me, but I thought it was better than the 1st Clerks. Trust me, I got all the jokes in the 1st clerks. I got all the references, and I worked at both a gas station and a video store. So, it was not that I didn't relate to it. I did and I loved the movie. That being said, I still enjoy Clerk 2 more. I thought that Jay and Silent bob were hilarious in it. Randel was even funnier this time around. His reactions were hilarious. His Porch Monkey scene was absolute gold. The lord of the rings bit was amazingly funny. I mean not to be an ass, and I am not trying to, but what were you expecting? What more did you want? Kevin delivered all of the goods, plus a donkey. So, I am just a little confused as to what you were expecting.

I agree. I like Clerks 2 better. In fact, this may be my favorite Kevin Smith movie, which says a lot. In my opinion, the movie's absolutely perfect.

All you motherfuckers are gonna pay. You are the ones who are the ball-lickers. We're gonna fuck your mothers while you watch and cry like little bitches. Once we get to Hollywood and find those Miramax fucks who are making that movie, we're gonna make 'em eat our shit, then shit out our shit, then eat their shit which is made up of our shit that we made 'em eat. Then you're all you motherfucks are next.

Love,

I saw this movie, it was definetly one of kevin smith's finest. The humor and approach were the same, but its humor was more mature then, the last one. Overall a must see film!

If you've never seen it before, yes. The joke in Clerks II will make more sense and you'll laugh even harder.

I finally saw it last night. I thought it was good. I thought Jeff Anderson was great. Of the Kevin movies, it ranks pretty low. I thought Jay and Silent Bob was funnier.

Side note: As I was leaving the theater, guess who was in front of me validating his parking? Bryan Lynch. I didn't say anything since he seemed distracted and I've only met the guy once in person. I didn't want to be all "I'm Fangirl."

I should preface my thoughts with the fact that I didn't like the original Clerks movie when I first saw it. Yep that's right. After I watched and loved Mallrats I decided to give it another try and liked it more. With each subsequent viewing I've grown to love it.

On Saturday, after watching United 93, I decided I needed to watch another flick to lighten my mood. I decided on Clerks 2. So maybe I wasn't in the best "place" to be watching a Kevin Smith film. I guess all in all, I was underwhelmed. I expected to be laughing out loud a lot more than I did. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, it was funny, I just expected more.

I'll give it 7 transformer jokes out of 10.

I was pissed when they put 6 god-damned episodes of the clerks cartoon on, and just discontinued it. I loved those cartoons. I guess it was just because I watched the first Clerks movie about 10 times within the first 5 days of it coming out on video. I partially agree with those who say that the Clerks 2 movie is better than the first movie, but I highly doubt that this one is going to gain as much of a cult following that Clerks got.

ok i saw both clerks the 2nd movie was better than the 1st even though the only reason i watch those movies are becuz of the terrible duo of Jay and Silent Bob without them in a kevin smith movie i wont watch it yet it was a dissapointment that Jay and Silent Bob went to rehab and no longer do drugs cuz that was a bonus to there funny-ness even though now that they talk about god and the look at the bible for answer is interesting and funny to watch them do it im not sayin its funny they look torward the bible for answer its just funny to watch at them doing it. also the funniest part in the movie was the donkey show becuz it was a big turn around from having a girl blow and donkey to a big "sexy stud" blow a donkey known as kinky kelly even though it was a guy

Oh no, its true. Then Kevin Smith made Mallrats, Chasing Amy, and Dogma in one year, which gave him plenty of time to finish Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back by 2001. A special kudos goes out to the makeup team for making O'Halloran look 10 years older in Clerks 2.

Moron.
