Spiderman outs himself (http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20060614/ennew_afp/afpentertainmentusbookscomicsspiderman)

What the hell?

Or is this something I need to go to another site to post about?

It's amazing how far Marvel will go to one-up DC's Identity Crisis/Infinite Crisis series.

So um...isnt that against like 60 years of spiderman history?
I bet it will turn out like "The Flash" something will happen and he will erase everyones memory or some other BS.
Didnt Spiderman go through great lengths to protect the ones he loves by hiding his idenity. I dont know, it should be a nice shake up, lead to some intresting devolpments, but its doesnt FEEL right. Thank god we still have Ultimate Spiderman.

I thought when I read this that Peter Parker was gay!

Yeah, I'd figure that it would go completely against Parker's character to do that. Say Daredevil, for instance, with his string of broken relationships, and his revealing himself to everyone already, and being a lawyer, Matt Murdoch would be a good case for it. Although, now I'm interested in seeing who is on what side of the issue.

Spidey removes his mask as the world gasps: "I have no idea who this is."

Yep, sure seems like weird move for Peter to make, but maybe it's another clone. Whatever happened to the Red/Gold new Spiderman outfit? is it gone already?

Honestly, between this announcement, the whole JMS Spider avatar storyline and the current Scarlet Spider redux otherwise known as Iron Spidey, regular continuity Web-Head is screwed up beyond belief.

really, if Marvel wanted to fix all the blunders they have made to Spidey and the other characters in the past decade, they should end Civil War with Galactus eating Earth, and all hero's dieing to save it. Then they can drop the mainline books that have been royally screwed and just concentrate on the Ultimate U.

It's sad to say that, but i think that they have screwed the pooch too many times to come back from the edge.

If Marvel did eliminate their regular line, it wouldn't be so bad since there are so many imprints with Marvel (Ultimate, MAX, Icon, Knights) to take up the slack. I'm with Dave - wipe the slate clean!

The only bad thing about that would be that FF would have to stop too, unless Reid managed to excape with his family into the Ultimate U (or some other world)

I thought it was an awesome idea... until Fangirl told me others have done it before. Sadly, I thought they were going to be originaly.

And Dave, what is up with your signature? Who is making out with Conan?
