So the new teaser is out for the Transformers movie.
I don't know about anyone else, but I think it look kinda shit. I don't like it at all, and it's kinda put a dampner on my excitement for the film (as if Michael Bay directing wasn't bad enough).

It looks like some fan-boy whipped it up on photoshop in about 10 minutes:

It is pretty minimalistic. I'm glad to see it though. Apparently they were having a tough time deciding what type of eye for the Transformers to have, and I like the choice. I like the little design choices they've made.

I say keep in mind that it's just a teaser poster. It's just to say "Hey, this is out there somewhere being made." Hopefully we'll start seeing some really cool stuff soon.

I saw a special effects test, just a simple transformer unfolding, and I must say it looked very good and very Bay. It's a street-level handheld wraparound shot. This movie is going to be big because of the dual market. Guys like me with nostalgia and our kids who are getting sick of Spongebob.

Was it the shot that includes an actor (male, dark hair, mid to late 20's) reacting to the transformation? If so, that shot is supposedly fake, or at least unofficial. It's a sweet test though, and gives a little hope as to how this could turn out......in the right hands.

"Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies?" - Team America: World Police

Well, there's a reason for this, which is that crappy action movies really do make tons of money and he's good at making things blow up really pretty. Sadly, the audience for Transformers isn't the crappy action movie crowd, it's the comic book movie crowd, and the people who love comic book movies hate bad comic book movies that are more concerned with blowing things up than telling a good story. Conversely, the crowds that go to see explosion movies are going to be much less likely to see a movie like this, which many will perceive as "geeky". IMO, this movie is going to be a tremendous flop with this director.

Actually, I saw the teaser trailer when I saw 'Pirates' and I was super excited to see it up on the big screen. I was a huge fan of Transformers as a kid. I mean, that and GI Joes were the top of my list. So, I'm excited.

And, I think Samuel L. Jackson is doing a voice for one, so you know that has to earn it some points. :)

As a transformers child i used to steal the toys from the local supermarket because my family couldnt afford them, i think Michael "pearl harbor" Bay may fuck this up. I think we will see another Thunderbirds, the money machine will take over and they will aim for the kids market instead of honest fans.

I think, on the whole, that this movie will suck much, much ass. If someone other that Michael Bay was directing it would have had a chance, but with Bay, it's just going to be a roller coaster of pain and misery all the way up until July 4th.

Oh and I am also sick and tired of hearing the, "Oh, it's screwing over the fans," argument about why it's gonna blow. I hate to break it to you, but "The Fans" aren't the only people out there who watch movies. A film should try to be accesible and fun to as many people as possible or there's just no point.

No, this flick's gonna suck based purely on the fact that Bay couldn't direct his ass out of a wet paper bag.

True, but Michael Bay's toxicity far outweighs anything mere cherubs could throw at us.

It's a little known fact that Michael Bay was on the set of the original Robocop movie. One of the days during lunch he sneezed on Paul McCrane, the effects of which are familiar to all:

Honestly, getting ticked off about THIS choice of a director shows that you all have NO taste.

Bay has done some GREAT work. Pearl harbor might not have been the GREATEST FILM OF ALL TIME, but he directed Armageddon, bad boys I and II, the ROCK. All of those were damn good flicks. Just cuz someone likes to work with matt damon doesnt make him a bad director. (another example of this would be kevin smith...) I, for one, think he'll do a great job on this project

That lesson right there saves a lot of stress and heartache.

I however will still be seeing this movie on opening day with my father. I know it's a movie he won't want to see, and I know it's a movie I don't want to see, but he took me to the first Transformers movie. The bond between my father and I is a lot stronger than Michael Bay's shitty directing and a few missing dollars.

This thread is pointless. We all know how awful this movie is going to be. I think this thread only serves to see how creatively someone can blame Michael Bay for destroying their inner child.

Well, I gave up an opportunity to see "The Transformers" this past Saturday....for free!! How is that possible you ask?

Well, part of the movie was filmed here in the Holloman AFB, NM area, actually about the first 15-25 minutes of the movie as it was released was filmed here. Anyways, Michael Bay and Dreamworks decided to have a special showing at the base theater here; a total of either 6 or 8 showings over Saturday and Sunday. All of the tickets were free, but were limited in numbers, so not everyone on the base could go. Anyways, a guy I work with had two tickets, but wasn't going to go, so he had a contest to give them away; I won both tickets. I thought my daughter was going to be working, so I gave them to a guy that works for me since his son had been wanting to watch the movie ever since he heard it was coming out. Besides, my daughter is older and would probably rather watch it with her friends than me anyways.

I got the scoop on the movie this morning, but won't give any of it away, but I will say that I was told it was almost non-stop action throughout the entire movie. Oh and it isn't a war movie turned into a love story (Pearl Harbor).

Anyways, Dreamworks did a great job this past weekend in putting on the screenings. I am not sure how many of you have seen a movie in a theater on a military base, but they are never really very good quality; okay, real crappy. Anyways, Dreamworks brought out their own projectors and sound systems and it was apparently amazing. A better picture than you can even get on an HD TV and the sound was so good that the entire theater shook. Michael Bay even showed up for the DV Screening.

I now kind of wish I was stingy and kept the tickets, as my desire to see the movie has gone from "hell no" to "yes", but I guess I will be content to watch it at the shitty theater in town and know that I made a little boy happy.

Saw the 8pm showing here in Syracuse, and even though I would have preferred body styles closer their original cartoon versions I'll live. I thought the movie was pretty good.

I haven't seen it yet, and I can't frickin' wait for it, but David Poland's review headline made me giggle: Merde Than Meets The Eye (http://www.thehotbutton.com/today/hot.button/2007_thb/070629_fri.html).

Just got back from it, and honestly enjoyed the hell out of myself. It's a great action flick, and keeps a decent pace throughout. I'll probably end up going to see it again along with Live Free or Die Hard. It also really made me want to buy a Transformer figure, but Wal-Mart was completely wiped out of the ones I wanted (either Bumblebee or Barricade).

This movie won't please everybody, but I had a great time. The third reel got melted right before the energon hit the matrix, so that was kind of a downer. I'm going to see it again soon because it's definitely one to see in the theater.

It's huge, loud, respectful to the source, funny in some good ways, funny in some bad ways, it has some cheese, but it's exactly what the 8-year-old version of me wanted to see.

Wow. Just got back from a showing, I gotta say that was laughably bad. I can't say it was a bad time, I got a few laughs, and a couple of the SFX shots were amazing, but man, even for robots that was some clunky dialogue. Then there was the damn near constant winking at the camera with lame jokes and product placement that rivals that of MIB II. And the cinematography was plain awful, every single angle chosen in this movie looks like a missed opportunity, the blooming light shots came across as gimmicky, and the digital grain in the night shots is just ugly looking. Would it be so wrong to let us see one robot punch the other without being extremely close up and then cutting to something else right away?

Spielburg should wash his hands of this and make sure his name is never associated with this project again. That said, I'm sure this movie is going to make a killing at the box office.

The fighting scenes were incredible. The movie did have it's corny moments, but all in all it was a lot of fun to watch. Seeing the fight scenes alot was worth the price of admission.

Watched it like 3 days ago...was Friggen AWSOME!!! In opinion it was just great. The way they created the robots and made them transform was excellent!!! Not only that, but the cars were hot!!! The action scenes were heaps good, like Optimus Prime and his sword.

What I didn’t get though is why he didn’t use the sword on Megatron?

Oh well, other than that, I thought the movie was sheer Brilliance!!! Even tried out the game on PS2 cause I thought it was that good (don’t usually check out the movie games, there usually pretty corny), and that was awesome, but the game was pretty short, unfortunately.:)

You should check out the non movie game that came out in about 2005, its a first/3rd person shooter (can choose) I think its based more on the comics/cartoon but having watched or read neither I can not say for certain, but is also a very hard game and some of the bosses are pure behemoths , and for course you can drive around the landscape too for faster transport.

Thanks!!! Il check it out. You should try the new game. If you haven’t yet, please do so. It has missions, but it is also a free roaming game, and you can play as either the Autobots or the Decepticons. Choose good or bad; I think that’s just pure awsomeness!!!

I saw and I watched, Shia was great in this movie, I reminded myself how he must've been working with green screen alot and the CGI itself was great, but that's about all I can say for the moment, theres alot of stuff I didn't like about the movie, especially the late night scene at Sam's house. The slapstick stuff really took me out of the movie and I felt it didn't pick up again until the end with the all the carnage going on, decepticons for the most part were stupid and reminded me of drones out of the matrix.

But I still feel I need to re-watch it again before I pass full judgement, and so I shall when it comes out on dvd. My friend liked it though.

Somebody was lurking in here (I'm assuming it was Charpaux ;)) and I'm amazed at all of the positive things said about this heap of shite. This movie was so bad it nearly made my cry. It was akin to watching someone violently rape my preteen years on top of a pinball machine. :(

I'm always signed in so I wasn't me. But I agree, considering the bashing the film got, there's quite a lot of positive comments in this thread. Considering the 3rd installment just started/about to go into production, maybe it's time to roll this thread out once more.

Okay, a quick scan of the TFWiki (Yes, I've got it bookmarked.) and some personal knowledge from other sites gives some indication of what we can expect to see.

Returning actors include the usual suspects plus Ramon Rodriguez, Kevin Dunn and Julie White (Much to my disappointment) and Tony Todd wants to come back in some capacity, but some new additions to the cast could prove interesting.
James Avery (He of Uncle Phil fame) confirmed he will be playing a new Autobot named Silverbolt. While Michael Bay announced that Frances McDormand (National Intelligence Director), John Malkovich (Sam's first employer), and Ken Jeong (Not confirmed) have joined the cast, as well as the Ferrari 458 Italia would becoming the "newest Autobot."

Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman will not be returning to write the film. All writing duties were given to Ehren Kruger. Bay is directing again (EXPLOSION!)

Story-wise, not much. Indications were given on the RoTF dvd about fleshing out the Transformers history (including shots of Unicron the world-devouring planet transformer) but this could be all lies on Bay's part. Optimus and Bumblebee will be getting a redesign to show how they've changed over the course of the films (See: To sell toys)

That's all I got so far but I'll add more if and when I get it and if I remember that this thread exists hehe

If I had a time machine I would asassinate myself for these words, fact!
Though TF is another film I watched in a fanedit form recently and enjoyed just because there was about 50 mins spliced and I really couldn't what was missing, or could tell but in no way did it make the film any less coherant. that nightime scene was still there but they removed the dog peeing at least.

Yeah but he was voiced by Robert Stack, that was awesome.

Drama? In '86, It traumatised kids. In 2008, no one gave a crap. Kids these days don't care about their heroes.
